Evra accuses Suarez of racist remarks | Suarez guilty of racial abuse

Shit, thought I was giving actual news there. Stupid Sky News Break twitter feed.

That is an absolute joke. You can't kick up that sort of fuss and then accept the ban surely? They must apologise. They're accepting the ban, they're accepting that they were in the wrong. Am I missing something? Is it that they still think they're right, but they think they'd lose the appeal?

Cannot wait for him to come to OT.

No sorry, no acceptance that the club or he has done anything wrong. Accepting the ban, but not the charge or verdict. No responsibility at all.

Both statements read as if they have to accept the ban because of pressure from the owners, the press, public opinion, whatever. And for all the crap written on RAWK, cases at CAS, the High Court, the ECHR were always ludicrous ideas, as was the idea of appealing the ban via the FA.

But what both statements show is not accepting that anything the club or he has done is wrong at all.

Basically, they've accepted the decision because they know they've not got any grounds for appeal... yet at the same time are still crying victim.

Stay classy fellows.

Surely the FA will have to issue a response the that statement, Liverpool are basically accusing them of holding a kangaroo court.

The fans doing that is one thing, the club, doing it officially is something else... surely you either appeal it or accept it.

Here's a quote from Luis Suarez before we get on with tonight's action: "I will carry out the suspension with the resignation of someone who hasn't done anything wrong and who feels extremely upset by the events. I do feel sorry for the fans and for my team mates whom I will not be able to help during the next month. It will be a very difficult time for me."

that statement is a disgrace. he has been proven guilty. Evra deserves an apology instead of this poor victim Luis bullshit. they are a disgusting shower of fecking smalltime toerags

My word. One thought they couldn't top the retardedness of their first statement. Seems they can.

Liverpool FCs PR team is run by a bunch of brainless mugs. That can be the only conclusion.

And it's a joke someone whose committed an offence as serious as his will only miss 4 league games. It's shameful from the FA, and shameful from Liverpool.

I'm 100% sure now...it's Ken Dodd isn't it? Ken Dodd's clearly running that club.

I actually wouldn't be surprised to see them just crumble tonight, they really have shown themselves to be totally pathetic today, nothing would surprise me.

Obviously they're our rivals but I've always respected them as a club but they really just look like a joke in all this.

In my country, 'negro' is a word we use commonly, a word which doesn't show any lack of respect and is even less so a form of racist abuse. Based on this, everything which has been said so far is totally false.

We're back to the 'in my country' defence again.

He shouldn't be allowed to get away with the bolded part.

I'm guessing that both LFC and Suarez are saying what they like because the punishment has been accepted.

Like many of you I was born into a very humble family, in a working class neighbourhood, in a small country. But I was born and raised learning what respect, manners and sacrifice mean. Thanks to my family, from my first club where I started playing, to my transfer to Holland in Europe, I learned the values which made me the person I am now.

respect and manners. those lessons must have just slipped his mind then when he cheated Ghana out of the worldcup with his handball, and when he bit someone during a game in holland, not to mention racially abusing a fellow professional in England. good rearing does not spring to mind

I am honestly baffled and after having read hundreds of posts and tweets by LFC fans I have to ask: Is violence, facist mass hysteria, death threats and racism an inherent component of LFC culture?

It's interesting that so many citizens from Uruguay also feels so strongly about this verdict, some of them take's it personal and defend Suarez actions with a strange logic that he's a victim and not a offender despite convincing evidence.

It's also interesting to witness that so many, I will say up to 98-99% of all Liverpool supporters, can't look at this objective and without any tribal conspiracy thoughts. It's like you say some sort of mass hysteria when 20 years of frustration all boil down to one incident, either you are with them otherwise you are against them. Some of my Pool friends can't even discuss this issue without showing hate and anger against anyone who don't agree and support Suarez. It's amazing what support for a football club can do to otherwise rational people.

I thought time will heal and that some of them would accept the commission's verdict as fair after some day's but so far they are in a small minority. I don't think that Liverpool supporters are any different to a United supporter but maybe that lack of success and that it's United involved can explain why they can't handle this in a rational way.

Anyone worth quoting?

Daniel Taylor #LFC statement is strong stuff but deeply flawed. Once again, they have not acknowledged Suarez ADMITS using calling Evra 'negro'

Matt Lawton Another astonishing statement from Liverpool re Suarez. They just don't get it despite deciding not to appeal. Very poor.

If the FA don't take action against that disgrace of a club for their statements/rambles then, as well as things being back to normal, I won't be pleased.

Another remarkable #lfc statement on Suarez.

Paul Hayward @_PaulHayward
Suarez sticking to his defence that "negro" not an offensive term in Uruguay despite experts pointing out it was used aggressively v Evra.

Matt Lawton @Matt_Lawton_DM
And the Suarez statement...to borrow a word from the commission, 'incredible'

...

I'm guessing that both LFC and Suarez are saying what they like because the punishment has been accepted.

IMO the club should be charged with misconduct / bringing the game into disrepute or whatever would be appropriate.

If you're appealing fine, state your grounds for appeal. You cant not appeal while at the same time questioning the objectivity of the entire enquiry and everyone involved apart from Suarez, while claiming to be champions of the greater good.

You can't have your cake and eat it. If you want to criticise the inquiry, fine but put your money where your mouth is an appeal officially.

How about saying sorry to the bloke you said you wouldn't talk to because he was black? You despicable fecking cnut.

So in the trial, Suarez's own defence accepted that it wasn't just one man's word against another's, but Liverpool say that in their statement. Ok.

Itr's unreal. Makes a mockery of the process and further insults Evra.

question: "why did you kick me"
answer: "because you're a negrito"

What part of that answer is not racist?

Glad we're not the only ones left speechless. I think it's time the FA got a bit heavy with them. He's admitted to using the word...as did Kuyt, Daglish and Comolli...yet they keeping forgetting this fact. What is wrong with them?

For that they've to lose to Oldham in FA Cup.

No they dont. The fixtures he'll miss;

City
Oldham
City
Stoke
Bolton
City
Wolves
Tottenham

I'm not sure when the 4th round of the FA Cup is but whether they win or lose to Oldham he'll be back for the United game
