Paul Pogba 'set for AC Milan and Inter talks over Manchester United exit'
AC Milan and Inter Milan are set to go head-to-head for Manchester United starlet Paul Pogba, with the French teenager now able to discuss terms with European sides, after failing to agree a new contract.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is continuing his desperate efforts to tie the 18-year-old down to a new deal at Old Trafford, having battled hard and caused controversy to bring him to Manchester from Le Havre in 2009.
However, after three years of quality footballing education under Ferguson, Pogba feels he is no closer to the first-team, and has changed agents in a bid to secure the best possible contract from Europe's elite clubs.
The French Under-19 international is in the last year of his deal with United, and is now free to discuss terms with clubs outside of England, who are attracted by the knowledge they'd only have to pay a training allowance of around £200,000 for his services.
AC Milan expressed an interest in Pogba last season, but have since been joined in the race by City rivals Inter, who believe Claudio Ranieri's powers of persuasion may be enough to help sway the balance.
French sides Lyon and Marseille have also shown a keen desire in recruiting Pogba, while rumours of a move across the Premier League to Arsenal continue.
United are expected to hold further talks with the players representatives later this month, in a bid to thrash out an agreement to keep him from the clutches of the interested Serie A giants.
