Evra accuses Suarez of racist remarks | Suarez guilty of racial abuse

The subsequent Evra 'story' from over five years ago has real potential to open up a can of worms.

I can't wait to hear the football fans guide to using certain terminology, who is allowed to use it and who is not, who is a hypocrite blah blah blah.

I bet RAWK is having a field day and celebrating all round.

Liverpool fans are just willfully not getting it. You can't hide behind ignorance when it has constantly been explained to you, but hey........

posting up vids of Evra saying the N word totally justifies their personal stance on this issue.

Among morons.

Anyone even discussing it is as if it is the same issue will be outing themselves as a tool. There is nothing more hilarious than indignant white people wondering why a black man can say nigger and a white man cannot.

just been reading the rawk thread on this and even now its actually really saddening. that people can be so intransigent in defence of someone who has racially abused another professional, for no other reason than club loyalty is really quite sickening. if rooney had done this I would want him sold/fired and at the very least heavily suspended by the club and made to apologise and I've no doubt most on here would too. club loyalty does not come into it. At this point I just cant understand why they are so idiotic about all this, short of them just being idiots that is

perhaps amongst those who want to debate the issue of whether its ok for black people to use the n word. which is a different issue to a white man racially abusing a black man

"I cannot believe that a club of Liverpool's stature, and with how it has previously led on matters of social injustice and inequality, can allow its integrity and credibility to be debased by such crass and ill-considered responses."

Ouch...

Journalism is shite. I first saw the video about 3 years ago, and saw it again a few weeks ago during this saga. Yet only now it's being picked up on with all it's glorious irrelevance.

Bingo!

It'd be like debating whether the cast of Jersey Shore are right to refer to each other by terms which if by used by non Italians would be considered racist.

Just to be clear I'm agreeing with you, wasn't sure if you were opposing me or not, but I agree, it's just creating a forum whereby people can debate such irrelevant things and somehow tie them into Evra/Suarez.

no mate. not opposing. presumed that was your point.

Honestly, I'm sick and tired of other blacks calling each other niggers. We've reclaimed the word, big woop. Stop fecking using it now, in either a friendly or derogatory manner.

Evra looks like an absolute idiot there. And why is he calling Lampard a nigger?

Suarez's apology is shit. An apology that isn't directed at the person you've wronged is not an apology.

I'm also black and I cringe each time I hear our teenagers call themselves "nigga".Black people are extremely hypocritical when it comes to that matter, yes we have suffered for more 3 centuries but we should lead by example and stop using the n-word among us.

Evra's messing about with friends, swearing in a foreign language, using words he probably only knows from gangsta rap CDs. The equivalent of kids on a French exchange shouting "merde" and giggling. Mental that this is perceived to be even vaguely relevant.

Surely it doesn't even matter if Evra is the Imperial Wizard of the KKK. Suarez racially abused him. Whatever Evra has said or done in the past won't change that fact.

What's all this talk of Liverpool wanting talks with United? cnuts

His first game back would be against us, at Old Trafford. They won't want him to get a whole stadium abusing him for 90 minutes.

feck it, though. If the club tells us to leave Suarez alone, i hope that all 70k + United fans ignore him and give the diving racist whiney bastard 90 minutes of solid abuse.

Ian Irving : Sir Alex on #LFC saying they want talks after Suarez row; "it's nice to do it through the press, you'd have thought they'd come to #MUFC"

That Evra video has been around for ages. Can't believe anyone's stupid enough to try to make a big deal out of it. Saying something a bit stupid when joking around in a hotel room is not in any way, shape or form comparable to racially abusing someone to try to wind him up on a football pitch.

"Peace talks"? All the hostility has come from Liverpool, I don't see why "peace talks" would ever be necessary if they can keep their bile in their gobs.

Fergie is the master of press conferences.

Obviously you would hope so given all his experience, but still, im proud of the way the club has gone around this. I would be embarrassed had we done anything remotely like what Liverpool have done.

Yeah, LFC should take out an advert in a newspaper to apologise in public to MUFC for acting so shamefully and then shut up and keep their racist t-shirts in the closet next to all the other skeletons.

I wonder if Liverpool would be so keen on peace talks if we were due to play at their ground soon? I think not.

So they've constantly gobbed off to the media, refused to directly apologise and questioned the credibility of practically everyone bar themselves and Suarez during this affair. And now they say they want to hold discussions with us?

Well done Fergie, tell them to feck off.

Worth noting that Gordon Taylor broached this idea at the very beginning, and it was Liverpool who declined, because they were thinking of suing Evra. Upon realising they had no grounds to, they just slandered him obliquely in their official press release, and now it's all backfired they want to weasel their way back into the idea.

Do one you shameless twats.

There was one comment in RAWK which says 'Sir Matt Busby will be turning in his grave' to that comment from Fergie regarding the press conference.

This from an idiot mod who went to great lengths to convince posters that Liverpool fc had acted graciously in this whole episode. All I want for new year is shoot this bastard.

Loved the way SAF handled the topic in the press conference! Makes them look that lttle bit more idiotic.

I've noticed that . I thought Redprat would have been around to tell us what a sweet cuddly little bear Sewerez was really

I think he was banned when this kicked off.

"It was nothing to do with race" according to that idiot.

As the Suárez uproar finally recedes (until the Manchester United game on Feb 11), the light settles on the astounding tide of vilification and anger stemming from some Liverpool fans, who have used Twitter, blogs and other social media sites to express volcanic indignation at outsiders who dare to be critical of the player or Liverpool’s myopic handling of the case.

Monitor the thoughts on or around the Kop and you will find many Liverpool fans who were embarrassed by the unwillingness to at least acknowledge that an offence was indeed committed by Suárez in his choice of language.

But this more balanced thinking was shouted down by the tribalists who regard all challenging comment as illegitimate and malicious and therefore to be met with abuse.

Liverpool fans' raging at anyone daring to criticise Luis Suarez or the club is typical of angry times we live in - Telegraph
