Liverpool vs. Manchester United

De Gea is in. Played brilliantly vs. Liverpool earlier in season
Berbatov. Hattrick hero last year deserves inclusion
Hernandez in last 20 mins to stretch defense with his pace
Back 3 of Evans, Smalling, Evra in good form, merits place.
Rafael is only Rightback; though I prefer Fabio. He plays with more thought and has better positioning.
 
I reckon Lindegaard will play, and De Gea will play the next 4-5 matches.
 
Stoke aren't exactly known for giving the opposing keeper an easy game. I think De Gea will play and he'll be our cup keeper (FA and Europa).
 
As much as I like to see De Gea as our no1, I don't think it's right to play him before Lindegaard makes a mistake/performance indicating a need for a change. He will then be given a fair opportunity to recapture the no 1 spot, instead of feeling that he is playing at the mercy of SAF. A much better starting point imo.

nice to see Aldridge taking the sensible approach - "win the tie for Suarez" :wenger: wasn't he found guilty of being an utter cnut and a racist? How about winding your feckin neck in and try to bring some sanity to your club and the fixture. Clearly, far too much to ask from a retard who fits the moustachio'd image of the scouse moron.

After everything they have been trying to do to get the supporters to support their team & leave the other issues to one side for this match, what a prize prick this Aldridge twat is...
 
Even if Rio is fit, I think he has to go with Evans and Smalling.... they were (largely) excellent against Arsenal, and I think they deserve a chance to build up some consistancy an understanding between each other.
 
If Rio is fit he will start as Smalling will probably then play at right back.

I'd give him a 50% of making it through the game if he starts.

Nailed on to be red-carded, or hauled off just before (or of course, injured).

Would feel a lot more comfortable with someone with a bit more of a cool head in what's going to be an absolute cauldron of hostility. Smalling RB for me. If other injuries allow it.

I would like to see Ferdinand start the home game against Stoke City. I want to see the Smalling-Evans combo again. They did well, so might as well give them another go. Rafael is faster than Smalling and we might need that extra pace if Bellamy or Downing start on the left.
 
Game raising aside, Liverpool have City midweek in what is a tight tie - our week's rest could be the difference in a game like this.

I'm never confident going away to Liverpool under normal circumstances, but I am this time.

Not sure about that. Smalling is very quick, and Rafael looked a bit sluggish on Sunday a few times. I agree with starting Rafael, think he and Valencia have the potential to own that side. Valencia will prefer a good overlapping fullback as Enrique's a tricky enough customer to get the better of. Downing would be their most likely wideman and he's in brutal form.

There's a school of thought that Valencia can be a great attacking option from right full back because it means he's away from the attentions of the opposing full back. In theory, he's free to gallop on against the opposing winger - could be hugely fruitful if Downing is anywhere near as flaky as Arshavin when it comes to tracking.

Would mean getting Nani onto the right flank and Park out on the left; not the worst idea in a 'big game'.

I think its alright doing that against the weaker sides at home in the league but not when you go away to one of the top sides (or in this case game raising cnuts hehe). Valencia has shown he can play at fullback but for me he's just simply not a good one. He doesn't know where to position himself, he ball watches and he's weak in the air. Understandable really as its just not his game.

We destroyed his confidence a few months ago by hanging him out to dry at fullback. Recently he's regained his confidence getting a run of games on the wing. We have to keep him there.

In any case, Nani may be a doubt for Liverpool after liming off against Arsenal.
 
I'd like to see Liverpool have an energy sapping extra time and penalties second leg against City tomoroow.
 
so, both Jones and Rio possibilities? I'd still rather stick with "my" eleven but they'd be handy on the bench

We cannot protect him forever. He needs to learn and there's nothing like gametime to do it. He's not going to become the keeper we all hope he does by sitting on the bench and cheering our goals.

Am not saying we should play him or not, just that carroll playing shouldnt be the reason why we dont.

it would be nice to win the Cup...we have not done it in a while.

My main hope is we get through without any more injuries....and the match is 'trouble free'...unlikely for the second hope me thinks :(

Ah ha, you see I always disagree with this train of thought. You may as well take Rafael out of your squad for 5 years if that's how you feel about him. And you could argue against Johnny Evans too and go round in circles. Play Rafael, he'll show you that he's maturing all the time.

Yep. He's picked up a shitload of bookings here and only been sent off twice i believe (Bayern and Spurs), and both times the ref was basically conned. The spurs one in particular was an absolute joke.

On sunday i think he was booked for his one and only foul but after that he stayed on his feet for Oxlade Chamberlain. Its not Rafael i'm worried about, its the reaction of the opposing fans and players (Adam, Gerrard etc) when they're tackled and a joke of a homer referee who will be only happy to oblige them with yellow/red cards.

If it's like any other performance we put in at Anfield lately it wont be a game to remember. A scrappy win at best.
 
Even though it would possibly muck up a crucial point in our season, I wouldn't mind a draw. Anything but a loss would and I will be happy.

2 games against Liverpool at Old Trafford in 4 days :drool:
