Barcelona - a lot of moaning about them and some praise

For the record, I doubt many outside of Man utd fans who, for some reason love Ronaldo and Real, despite them constantly unsettling your player, Real Madrid and Portuguese fans believe that Messi matches Ronaldo in his diving, let alone does it a lot more.

I don't think even those believe it either. They are just taking the piss because Messi has been ahead of Ronaldo in the past three years to be honest with you..

bump

I thought Barcelona as a whole were embarrassing today. Pepe was horrible for Madrid with his blatant diving. Casillas was fantastic with his leadership - poor from the referee to book him for trying to quiet things down.

I was shocked when this thread was not bumped last week

I always say the same thing, if you are so disgusted by Barcelona and can not enjoy what was a fantastic game....dont watch it

I don't think anyone's denying that Madrid are a cynical bunch of cnuts in these games either.

Spot on. Though, I must admit, I'd rather a team foul than dive a lot.

It really irritated me that Casillas got booked today for being the good guy. Completely unfair on a model professional. Even at the end when Madrid players were rushing towards the referee he kept them away.

i don't know what game you watched, but for me was the best football game i saw in a while

i know, (puts grave voice and coughs politely) "we are premier league lovers, we are above all the teatricks, antics, simulations and card wavings", but the game was fantastic

Agreed. One of those games where I wish there was near no limit in substitutions so we could see the two managers try and out maneuver each other again and again. I really thought that Madrid where going to do it, and had say I could see Barcelona failing to will all of the big 3.

If the first game lacked a back drop, this one certainly didn't which made it all the more exciting.

So in your eyes gaining an advantage through potentially injuring an opponent is better than gaining an advantage through simulation?

OTT much, that's a little on the drama queen side isn't it?

There was probably much chance of the Barca players hurting themselves as they flung themselves to floor.

We have far too many posters on the outraged at Barcelona bandwagon to ever admit to enjoying the game

Annoyingly they only ever watch the Classico's which to be fair does bring out the worse in the 2 sides even though the antics are very entertaining.

feck off.

Calm down. Obviously I wouldn't want a team to injure anyone.

However many teams get "stuck in" to maintain a foothold in the game. Even we are guilty of it sometimes, particularly during the Roy Keane era. I'd much rather see a player get stuck in and commit several fouls than see him dive every time he is touched.

I agree. I don't like injuring players on purpose but those "hard guys" are in the minority of those types. Like Karl Henry and what not. That's why I don't think Ramos belongs in this cnut group with Pepe and Dani Alves. Pique is that way too. I didn't mind that bit from him when Granero got booked. I understand that from him. They both usually just stand up and get on with it. But Granero came at him with studs first. Had Pique followed through his clearance and hit him he'd gotten himself a swollen leg or perhaps worse.

We should make a list of the cnuts instead of calling out the whole team. I'm sick of this generalization of these two teams. They aren't the worst teams out there. They're just higher profiled and better than us at the moment.

In these games, yes they really are.

Aside from the Classico's they're ok.

And I'm not sure Madrid are better than us, there is nothing to show me that this is the case.

Eh, it was better than there previous matches but in the end, not as enjoyable because of all the nonsense. That's just the way it is. Some of us can't stand it. I only watched because I'm home sick. I'll admit it was more entertaining that most El Clasico's but it really just helped to cement my opinion that they are awful cnut and I'll never give them credit as long as they spend so much time rolling around holding their faces.

Nothing? How they batter every team besides Barcelona. They crushed the CL last season until they met Barcelona. Season before that they crushed the groups but somehow their finishing let them down against Lyon over two games where they could easily have scored 8-10 goals.

In the season they broke the point record. Sadly for them, so did Barca and a little bit better than that as well.

Have you seen the squad of Real Madrid? Best squad in the world. Who would cope better. Real losing Xabi, Ronaldo and Benzema or Barcelona losing Messi and Xavi? Real would. Barcelona have the best first team in the world with Pedro, Thiago, Mascherano and Fabregas to spare. Real have a bit more in every position (except goalie).

I'm not saying there's a whole lot between us but they are a lot more consistent as a team than we have showed this season and the last.

Casillas is alleged to have had his moment with ref after the match on the way back to the dressing room:

"So, Teixera (the ref) Now, are you going off to a party with Barca?"

He's not too chuffed about the yellow he picked up either.

I only follow English and Norwegian football closely, but RM and Barca are very obviously in an entirely differently league than anything from those leagues (and anything else I ever watch). Both are bizarre collections of scumbags. To even question that is a sign of insanity.

absolutely

both teams are in a different league to the other big teams in the world right now, this team of Real would have been compared to the great teams from the past if Barca weren't so good

I enjoyed this Classico more than most in recent memory, mainly because there was a degree of parity between the sides. I thought Real have really turned the corner in their inferiority to Barca and are on the cusp of completely unlocking them very soon. It should have happened last night, but didn't. One just gets the feeling it will happen very soon, which adds a lot of excitement to the fixture. The diving and theatrics just add more to the entertainment value that we've come to expect.

That was such a a pathetic decision. He tried to get the players away from the ref and the ref booked him.

Minues the theatrics which are always there in the classico, yesterday was the best one in a while. IT had been quite a while since Real actually matched Barca and they deserved to win yesterday. I hope Mourinho continues to play this way in the future.

2 very good teams these.

I've not been watching the classicos of late but its good to know that the gap is reducing. Give the disproportionate nature of the league, what it needs is a close and even title race.

But I disagree about the theatrics. It just leaves a very sour taste for me. To watch grown men act like misbehaved evil children really ruins the spectacle for me.

I think Real and Barcelona are quite clearly the two best teams on the planet at the moment.

It's 'El Clásico'. Not 'El Classico'. :)

Same with Atlético Madrid - I constantly see people referring to them as 'Athletico Madrid'.

This is a Barca thread so obviously I can only adhere to the idea of them being truly disgusting and rotten.Like they have this divine right to win matches at all costs.Madrid aren't better nor worse.

Out of the two, I don't think Barcelona are any better or worse than Real Madrid. The two are as bad as each other.

By the way, how is this thread different from the City fans claiming to be the "moral winners"?

I think from a neutral point of view, this thread has bitterness written all over it..

Definitely but you'll have people telling you United are better than Real because it was us in the CL final last year.

There are other Spanish teams and then there are Italian teams. I personally find the Portuguese teams to be worse in general. Porto and Benfica in Europe. Watched Maritimo play FH (Icelandic team) in an EL match. Most often than not the faces of the FH players looked like the were solving a hard math problem, with not prior knowledge of math, every time Maritimo got a free kick.

Then you also have S-American teams where players sometimes hit themselves with the opposition and go down.

Real and Barca are definitely not the worst. They're not the same when not playing each other.

Yes, having an sort of criticism about a team that constantly dives is bitterness.

Everything can be twisted, turned and justified but in the end, diving and cheating is diving and cheating - an embarrassing sight. And Barca is one of the most embarrassing teams I've ever seen. And probably the best team that I've seen.

So I guess - cheating and diving is the way to go.
