Paul Pogba

I know it's depressing when two talented youngsters leave you, but they're apparently idiots...

Wouldn't read too much into it, he wasn't involved in the reserves earlier in the week which means he was definitely in consideration for today but clearly SAF wants as much experience around to avoid another collapse like we had against Basle. If Pogba was definitely off there's no way SAF would have said that 'it's possible' he will stay and again it's difficult to put that comment in context without hearing SAF saying it (being coy or not sounding confident), also Pogba wouldn't in my mind be around the First Team squad if he was off. It would be terrible to lose him and Morrison in such a short space of time.

Well the Juventus story did gain a bit more pace this morning, so you never know. Ferguson could've been only told late last night or this morning of Pogba's apparent intentions.

If you told me in August that we'd sell Ravel and that there's a chance Pogba would leave and that Paul Scholes would come out of retirement I would have laughed at you for a very long time.

So Pogba just caught a flight to Turin after training yesterday?

Indeed, lets look at the bigger picture, two big youth prospects at United, one ends up at West 'Am, the other a dying Juventus team, don't sound like Manchester United players to me.

He's Off

18 year old doesn't get named in the squad of the only European Competition we are in, and taking seriously, and everyone jumps to the conclusion that he's now going to leave the club

I suspect this has a lot more to do with what Fergie said about key players in our squad needing game time then it does with any of this contract talk.

I suspect it has a lot more to do with the fact it's a young an inexperienced side as it is and our subs may need to settle the ship.

Juve are top of Serie A and unbeaten in the League I believe.

We don't know anything yet, but like Morrison, is he really worth gettinh upset over? He's unproven for feck sake, he could flop for all we know. Also, like Morrison, his agent seems a cancer.

I think it is. Well not genuinely "upset" but it's extremely an disappointing thing to happen. The biggest club in the world shouldn't have its best young players all moving away at a young age. Especially given we're a club that has youth development as part of its very foundation.

I'm shocked that he isn't part of the squad to be honest. We've got a healthy lead that we're very unlikely to lose. This is as good a chance as any game from now on in for him to get some game time.

And? Pogba has to sign the contract.

All I'm going with is what I'm lead to believe, I don't know the case, like I've said earlier, just speculating on the story is all. Ferguson spoke in his recent press conference about Pogba getting minutes in tonights game. Then last night stories of Juventus took a bit more pace, and now he's not even in the squad for tonight. He could be injured for all I know, but I don't.

You don't think he could sign his name in Italian?

No, no I don't. I just struggle to understand how you train next to Scholes and Giggs and not be rushing to David Gill for a new contract, I really hope Pogba sees sense.

They only took more pace because SAF had referred to the situation in the presser, how can it go from possible to impossible just like that?

What's also annoying is Evra who as a fellow Frenchman should hold some influence with Pogba speaks wonderfully about the club and should be able to convince Pogba easily that this is the right place for him. fecking agents and stupid footballers.

So he's off then?

Fergie will get asked and he'll probably say he's injured but till people see him on the floor in pain the media won't buy it.

Well I don't think it ever went from possible to impossible to be honest.

Eh? SAF said 'it's possible' he would sign a new contract, if he's agreed to go to Juve and told SAF and SAF's dropped him then it's impossible (more or less) for Pogba to sign a contract here, that's also a pretty drastic turn of events in 24 hours.

Ferguson will say he's prepared a team of players in need of minutes. I just don't understand Pogba's exclusion, something, for me, has have to irked Ferguson.

Well, it's not as black and white as that mate.

Yesterday Fergie indicated it's likely he'll be involed.

This morning there's a story linking him to Juve.

He's not even in the squad this evening.

You need to remember that First Team players will still need minutes to keep sharp for the weekend.

More importantly, why the feck do all our best young players have so many wandering thoughts? I know Fergie puts in a lot of work into making sure the players he signs are of the right mentality. And it's quite surprising that our best two young talents as of the start of the season were more itching to get a pay rise than to play for Manchester United.

Ah I get you now, of course he's going to say that isn't he? If anything, 'possible' is the worst answer he could've given us in terms of Pogba staying.

There's been stories linking to Juve for a while.

Err no, the worse possible answer would be something along the lines of, "It's difficult now because the boy's had his head turned blah blah....we'll have to wait and see."

Has he annoyed fergie because of his refusal to sign a new deal?

I think he be gone in the summer sadly.

I'm aware of it, but as I said in this post below I think it's more about game time.

I'd guess we are looking at something like this:

De Gea
Rafael, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra

Nani, Tom Cleverley, Phil Jones, Park

........Ashley Young
Javier Hernandez
That's literally every player that needs "some game time" according to Ferguson while on the bench I expect to see:

Amos, Fabio, Smalling, Scholes, Giggs, Berbatov, Welbeck

Or something like that. Lots of players who need 90, 60 or 30 minutes for whatever reason. Cleverley and Jones need 90 minutes for match fitness while players like Scholes and Giggs need 30 minutes or so to be sharp for the weekend after 10+ days without a game. Then there is Berbatov who needs minutes ect ect.

You can see why Ferguson feels he can't find space for Pogba as it's a key point of our season coming up and players need to be kept in the right condition for it.

The squad is the same (bar Ferdinand) as I said above, only a few changes in the team and what I said still applies, we have players who need minutes in order to be in full fitness at an important time.

Maybe if we differentiate between talented players in the 1st team while giving out contracts, we should do the same for youth players as well. More talented players will always demand more money and you can't expect all of them to play for Manchester United as much as the local lads. Especially now a days when other clubs are willing to pay mad money.

We know feck all

If he stays he stays - if he goes he goes

Nothing we can do about it

The Morrison thread and this one have become very annoying and frustrating

Why torture ourselves

Lets not bury our heads in the sand. He's off and deep down we all know it.

Sure seems that way now. Annoying as hell.

Has he annoyed fergie because of his refusal to sign a new deal?

SAF said yesterday 'it's possible' he will sign a new contract and we also don't know if that one-year option is enforceable, there is still hope.

Yes but Pogba isn't just not on the bench, he didn't even travel with the squad.

That's the bigger issue here.

EDIT: Also, Carrick is on the bench. He doesn't need any game time and with Giggs and Scholes on the bench isn't exactly needed either.

So take advantage of the local lads who would play for peanuts?

It is insane to think we're a club with a history of developing and promoting players from within. Thanks be to Jaysus for the Da Silva's, Cleverley, Welbeck and Evans.
