Tottenham Hotspur vs. Manchester United

A draw would not be a bad result, but having blown a 2 goal lead in their local derby will hopefully leave them a little shaky when they face us - and Parker being out is no bad thing for us either. I've thought for a while we'd win this game , don't ask me for any reasoning behind that statement, just a feeling, that's all.....

it would actually

city aren't goin to drop many points so we need to Win every match we play.
We need to be going into the city match at least only 2 points behind. Their goal difference is worth a point to them so we need to be able to overtake them by beating them at wastelands.

Well we have to play a lot better than against Norwich away if we're going to win at White Hart Lane. The perfect moment to show what the team's really made of!

0-2 win!

If Valencia comes back, I am not sure he will start. Good option to come of the bench though so he can trouble Ekoto at the end of the game.

Will be the team imo and wouldnt mind seeing that either.

Three points please, don't feck about. We're on great form in the league, results wise, need to keep it up. Hard game, our record against Tottenham fills me with confidence though.

Tottenham predicted lineup:

GK: Friedel

RB: Walker
CB: Kaboul
CB: King
LB: Assou-Ekotto

RM: Lennon
CM: Sandro
CM: Modric
CM: Van der Vaart
LM: Bale

CF: Adebayor

I don't think Harry is ballsy enough to play two strikers against us with Parker out. I reckon he'll start Lennon ahead of Kranjcar due to Lennon usually doing quite well against us, though I haven't seen how Kranjcar has done lately.

Bolded are weak spots for us to exploit. Think we can concentrate on exposing those, we should be OK. Adebayor will be a massive threat though and up for it. Evans will have to be on top of his game as I dont think Rio has the speed to do a man for man job on him.

What happened to Huddlestone? I haven't seen him in forever. How long has he been injured?

I wonder if Cleverley is back next week after getting injured and missing a pointless international friendly and a, what should have been, easy game vs norwich.

At this stage of the season, talented and future potential he may be, but I don't want Cleverley to be given game time in the PL to help him get his form back. Let England and the Europa Cup do that.

I'd love him to get back into the 1st XI and be a regular, but only when he is fully match fit and flying in form. The PL is so tight this year, we just cant carry any passengers.

He has a huge future for us and will be a mainstay in our midfield hopefully for many years to come, and I hope he makes a massive contribution in the run in, but I'd rather we stick with Carrick, Giggs, Scholes, Jones and Park in midfield rather than play Cleverly to get him back up to speed.

Just my opinion.

I liked how we were lined up at the end of the game, Giggs was great as a wide playmaker. Nani plays so high up he's almost a 3rd striker, I like to think it looks something like this if we line up the same way.

De Gea
Rafael....Evans....Rio....Evra
Scholes Carrick.........
......................Giggs
..Nani...Rooney..........

Oldschool 4-3-3!

I wish Modric had picked up a 2nd yellow as opposed to Scott Parker... I wouldn't have minded Parker playing in this game at all, especially when you consider he is invariably pretty shit against us...

Why are so many putting Valencia in their predicted line-ups? Pretty sure Fergie said he'd be out for four weeks when he picked up his injury in the Ajax away game.

I actually rate Sandro far higher so not sure Parker's suspension is a good thing at all.

From a few days ago:

Valencia injury boost

Antonio Valencia could be fit in time to face Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Sunday 4 March.

The classy winger suffered a hamstring strain after coming on as a substitute in the first leg victory against Ajax in the Europa League and was expected to be out for around a month.

However, Sir Alex is hopeful that the right-sided midfielder will be back in contention for a starting spot against third-placed Spurs.

"The availability of Ashley Young and Nani as natural wide players considerably strengthens our attacking options," the boss wrote in his column for United Review, the official matchday programme. "And I am sure our strikers are pleased to see them.

"They will be sorry to see Antonio Valencia injured again because he too provides great service from out on his wing, but it's not a particularly serious injury and he should be back in a week or so."

Valencia will miss Sunday's trip to East Anglia to face Norwich City as the champions look to keep the pressure on Manchester City at the top of the table.

Tough one this. We're ever going to get the same Spurs that went to Arsenal or one that will be bouncing back from that. I'd go with the following -

DDG

Jones
Rio
Evans
Evra
Valencia (Hopefully Fit)
Giggs
Carrick
Nani

Rooney
Welbeck

Subs
Amos
Fabio
Rafael
Smalling
Berbatov
Young
Scholes

de Gea
Jones Ferdinand Evans Evra
Carrick Scholes
Valencia Giggs Nani
Rooney
--
Amos; Rafael, Smalling; Park, Young; Hernandez, Welbeck

I do think this is a game for 433 so have a feeling Giggs and Scholes will start again. But I can also see Welbeck leading the line with Rooney in Giggs' position. Valencia is likely to start, he can probably deal with Bale better when we're on the defence, but also give them problems going forward too. Rafael had a good game against Bale not so long ago if I remember correctly, but I don't mind who starts at Right Back (Rafael/Jones/Smalling) as they'd all put in a good shift. Got to win this one I feel and then we have an alright set of fixtures before Man City away. I'll be confident of us getting beyond City if we can get a win here.

This is a flexible side, as we can easily push Jones into midfield and Valencia to right back whenever we want to make a change elsewhere. Good subs in Hernandez and Welbeck if we need a goal, Young could provide a different kind of creativity while Park can shut up shop if needed.

I rather Rafael was left to handle Bale than Smalling.

Van der Vaart now out of the Netherlands squad with an ankle injury. So I'm guessing a severe doubt for the United game?

Would be harsh to drop Jones in favour of Rafael though.

Not really. Would we not drop Rafael for either of Smalling/Jones if we were to play stoke?

He's best suited of the 3 to deal with Bale's pace, should be the one to start imo.

Play Jones in midfield. Problem solved

Evra needs help... Harsh on Smalling.. but Rio and Evans dont deserve to be dropped
