Phil Jones

For someone who has grown up as a centre half, he's a fantastic crosser, one of the best at the club

He's pretty fantastic at a technical level in general really.

His crossing technique reminds me of Beckham's crossing technique.

Here's a better angle of Jones' celebration (first towards the fans):

Props to Prateik.

He is a very good crosser but he'll be better when he learns not to put them in from too deep too often.

He'll definitely captain United, he just has that mentality, and I suspect there was very little complaints when it was thought he would captain against Ajax

Aye, his itchy feet might mean he's best on the flank of the defence until he calms down. I like him at full back. That said he was very disciplined at the weekend. Jones will be a player.

I'll be happy to see him play him anywhere, only the CB area I'm not too confident with him in but he can play well there on his day. Class player.

Just the one occasion where he had the wrong body shape defending against robben and got skinned. Otherwise very good and the assist was exceptional, first time pass and weighted beautifully. Similar in a way to the Giggs pass for Owen in the Derby a few years back in terms of difficulty of execution

At 19, what can we ask more from him. He has all the time in the world to develop and he is in the right club too.

He 20, foo.

He seems to get an absolute battering every game and still last the 90. Its like a war zone out there for him with his all action style.

It's as if he goes into every game trying to inflict as much damage to himself as humanly possible.

I was big on Jonesy at the start of the season so it saddens me to say how badly he has played for the last few months. He's never come back to form after his injury and Rafa should be in the starting XI. I still feel Smalling & Jones are the future at centre half for us but Jones needs some time out to regain his form. Firmly behind Evans at centre back and not first choice at full back for me.

His form has really dipped, he looks slow and clumsy. He still does a job, but Rafael should really be our starting RB.

How did he not get taken off?

Having a really hard time and almost on his death bed!

His faults were more to do with ball possession rather than defensive work today. Was more surprised that Welbeck finished 90 minutes given how much we struggled with possession and we didn't need goals.

I really don't understand why is he starting ahead of Rafael, and probably never will.

I think he got injured at 3 different times during the match. I didn't think it was a wise move that he started over Rafael in the first place.

How he survived that battering and also not getting sent off being on a yellow will remain a mystery to me.

What a fighter.

He's just a bit raw at the moment and I think we're playing him a bit too much. I can understand him playing today for his height but I think in general it would be good if use him a bit more sparingly.

I think what Jones needs right now is a run of games in a locked position. As our defensive pairing seems to be set and it is logical to prefer Rafael over him at right back, I wouldn't mind seeing him play in midfield.

I reckon it might be a good thing long run (a little dip in form), some of the early expectations (include myself in this) were ridiculous.

It cant be easy having to adjust your game to play in a different position every match.

Didn't seem to trouble him early on in the season. I think a big chunk of his matches were at right back - Such as Norwich and Spurs in the last seven days - but I don't think it's about position. A string of injuries knocked the wind out of him, and maybe we're also seeing the effects of barely missing a match for the first half of the season. He just turned 20, didn't he?

Seems to have lost his touch with the ball a bit. He'll get it back.

Who knows, maybe Rafael wouldn't have survived the match had he started the game

had a much better second half. his body took a beating today too. surprised SA left him in there, with the yellow, considering his physical style.

He got battered today and looked physically drained even though he'd never willingly go off the pitch. Looks like he needs a bit of a rest.

I am surprised that he has played so many games for us this season. I would have thought maybe 20 games max and those would be sufficient. Yes at times he has made mistakes and this is to be expected.

I am optimistic that with the manager, coaches and players we have he will no doubt be an asset to the club for many years to come.
