Paul Pogba

He looked a bit classy on the ball, oozed confidence in a cauldron of a stadium while we were getting dicked. Encouraging for us.... or Juve.

Deserves to be involved against Wolves after that showing. Classy and driven on the ball, the only of our players to look as technical as theirs.

not hard to be frank. His ball play is very strong. Other then that cross :( - i hope he gets more games to prove himself. Tonight was dire.

He made more of an impression in 20 mins than most of the others during the whole match.

We need to bring a cohort of youngsters through together Bilbao / Sporting style. Keeping Pogba would help that

I found it hard to identify players tonight.

Either my eyesight is failing or the Ch5 picture is lousy. Maybe I'm getting too comfortable with Sky HD, and unwilling to make the extra effort required to identify individual blurs on sd.

(First time I've heard him but, anyone else think Stan Collymore is a good co-commentator? :nervous:)

Really like his attitude tonight. Still, I can't be too excited until he signs that contract.

He probably is more technically gifted . Our kids get all the fancy stuff drummed out of them at a young age. Abroad they learn the technical stuff first.

Pogba was really good tonight. He should get a start soon, he is ready!

I don't think we will risk him in a start this season now, basically every game from Sunday is a must win and I'm sure we will keep the tried and tested players out there if we can.

Pogba will only start in an emergency I would imagine, not because he is not good enough but because it's not worth the risk. He will get plenty of experience from 20 minute cameos to properly bed him in for next season should he stay.

Not particularly. Rafael slid and failed to make a clearance, which he responded with something along the lines of "He'll only get 2 or 3 more chances in the team if he showboats in his box."

Back to Pogba, looked very calm, composed and he hit a lovely crossfield ball as well. Excited about his propects here.

Not at United they don't.

No I know that, but I get the impression that some kids you are starting from scratch as they might be big, strong and fast, but have not been encouraged early on at school to use their skills. Thank god United aren't obsessed with height or Scholes would never have made it.

Also thought he had a good attitude, excited about the lad but we can't get too worked up until he signs that contract.

Great experience for him. He'll be a better player for that. Just hope to feck we're the team that benefits. I'm still confident we will be. The sudden increase in his involvement is really noticeable. Has to be something behind it.

Wouldn't be any near the first team unless Fergie has some kind of assurance that he's staying in my opinion.

Stick last week. Carrot this week.

I don't buy that. We've been negotiating for months. Doesn't make sense that we'd suddenly use wildly differing tactics in two consecutive weeks. Something happened to make Fergie stop picking him and something else happened to make him start playing him more than he has all season. I think Fergie told him he won't make the squad until he makes his mind up. Then he made his mind up.

I am, of course, speculating.

It's a plausible theory. But why the delay in signing the contract? If he had done so, it would have been announced.

anyone got individual highlights of his performance? couldnt pay full attention because i was too annoyed at the result

He is a class act, his physical presence is a big advantage that a lot of young players don't have, it allows him to do his thing, and he has that confidence about him, no matter what level he is playing at he will still just do what he does, Danny Welbeck was the same. Hope to feck he signs the contract. He has a chance now to be more regularly involved with Anderson injured.

Why didn't you watch it on 5HD?

From the other thread:

What a surprise. I'm sure the OP was slating himmin the other thread as just a kid who hasn't proven anything and didn't deserve what he was asking for. I know this isn't the thread, but it has to be said.

Anyway, I think he did decent last night. There's still a lot more in his locker that he hasn't shown yet. If he's changed peoples minds already, they're going to have a real shock when they see what he's really capable of. Let's just hope he stays.

I've said it before, but I think this lad is the best candidate that I've seen to be Paul Scholes' replacement in the long term.

I'd be continuing to slate him now if he'd chosen to leave, but since it seems he has chosen instead to stay then there's no reason to slate him, is there?

It brings me great satisfaction that, upon reading my passionate post the other day about what it takes to be a United player, Pogba has decided to stay with us; it's good that the players take notice of the fans in times such as this and I'm glad to have done my bit to help SAF in his management of the side. It's not the first time I've personally and directly contributed to our success of course, and it probably won't be the last, but even so, each time I help out in some way I see it as a great honour.

I'll keep plugging away, lads, don't worry.

Has he?

You were well wide of the mark and you now realise. Anyone that said he should only be allowed to earn, for the next 4 years, based on where he was at last week, are not living in the real world. Within a week or two and now he's now ready for much more playing time and we definitely need to keep him etc.

This lad is worth his weight in gold and we can't lose him. He and the club both know he is good and will be much more involved with the first team.

Oh how I'd love to be a fly on the wall during this saga.

Personally I still don't see any other reason for us to suddenly give him this much playing time, unless we're very confident he'll sign a new contract with us.

It would seem so, wouldn't it?

You clearly don't understand how youth players gain first team contracts though. If you think that he'd be earning whatever was offered to him when he was eighteen for the full four year duration of his contract then it's you who is wide of the mark. What a stupid thing to say!
