Nothing to lose? We're top of the league and in the run in to May, we've plenty to lose. This isn't the time to be appeasing a rising talent, he'll get time on the pitch as and when he can be given minutes in games that look to be won.

How is there nothing to lose? Hel get his time as needed, I think he's staying, he wouldn't be playing otherwise

We are going to play 1 game a week between now and the season - Carrick, Giggs, Scholes, Cleverely is hardly short of bodies centrally right now. Nothing to lose? Just the league I guess.

I'll join in. Nothing to lose? you crazy fool.
Would be good to see him feature more though as he looks to have great strength and technique.

I think the point some miss when we talk about giving Pogba playing time, is that he's actually very good. He's not going to be a liability to us, no more than Park or Giggs are in central midfield anyway.

What? Giggs is a liability now? feck's sake.

No, that's not what I meant. I mean that some people seem to think if we put Pogba in the team it's a huge gamble that will jeopardise our chances of getting a result. My point is that he wouldn't hinder us like that, and wouldn't do any worse than Giggs or Park would in central midfield. None of these players are liabilities, and while I'm sure we'd agree we'd rather see Carrick and Scholes in central midfield, given Fergie still plays Park and Giggs often, I don't see any reason why Pogba couldn't do just as well.

Worth noting that while it might look like I'm grouping Giggs with Park, I still much prefer to see Giggs in CM than Park.

Giggs is far better in central midfield than Pogba would be. That's not going to change between now and the end of the season.

As for Park, I'd say the chances of him starting any of our remaining games in central midfield are slim to none.

Expect pogba to get plenty of sub appearances between now and the end of the season.
He may get to 10 appearances which would get him a medal should we hold on for the title. I wonder if fergie thinks like that

you're discounting how vital experience is at this stage of the season

He would need to feature in 8 of our last 10 league games and that isn't going to happen. I doubt Fergie would even consider playing someone just to potentially get them a medal unless they were already close.

I think that you could argue for both sides and sound convincing. What we think will happen, influences what we go for. I don't think Pogba is a major risk personally in a team with Scholes, Carrick etc. If he's on the bench, he's still a viable option in spite of the importance of the games coming up.

Not that I disagree with you really but just look at the impact Macheda had on a very important run in a few years back. If Pogba keeps knocking on the door in training/the reserves I think Ferguson will find minutes for him.

Pogba's physique gives him a huge advantage over the majority of youngsters that are making the breakthrough around his age.

The conundrum is that we do need to give Pogba game time for his development, but realistically we want the experienced players such as Scholes and Carrick in midfield at this stage of the season. I think just keep things how they are for now, allow him game time from the bench if we are comfortable in matches. And then look at properly integrating him with the first team squad over pre-season like we did with Cleverley and Welbeck last summer.

Agreed. Something fresh, different can be a real boost at this stage of the season. You could see him providing a couple of telling cameos between now and June.

Found this on tuttomercatoweb from yesterday:

The midfielder Paul Pogba, '93 class player out of contract with Manchester United, is now one step away from the transfer to Juventus. The French player - back Tuttojuve.com - has reached an agreement with the company in Corso Galileo Ferraris on the basis of a four-year agreement. To ratify the transaction now only expects a return to Italy Mino Raiola, agent who set up the operation and currently abroad for labor issues.

That is terrible English

i am sick of this saga, damm it just sign the contract with us...

some of his passing went astray, didn't had much of an impact.

His off the ball play is not good at all. Cant see him playing much in a 2 man midfield just yet.

Hence why we have hand picked the right moments to play him where it is not detrimental to the outcome of the game. A lot of it is down to lack of experience and will improve the more he plays. Technically he is very good, good passer and brilliant shot (which we haven't seen in the first team yet).

He can no longer use the lack of football excuse should he leave. If he went to Juve I'm pretty sure he would be playing a lot less than he is for us now.

Does he drive forward with the ball in the reserves? I like the look of him but he seems to always look for the pass despite having a huge frame which should allow him to ward off players when driving forward.

But I do like the look of him. Looks very classy on the ball.

Indeed, and the fact that we werent exactly at top gear didnt suit him either.
