Manchester United vs. Fulham FC

Ashley Young has to learn to keep the ball better. Pissing around like that is alright at Villa, but not here.

Agreed although he was one of our better players tonight, he and Valencia overall were good. Turned out a tough game that should have been a lot easier, but for so many poor touches and sloppy passes.

Ah well, got the 3 points and on to the next.

finishing was a bit off today, should have been more aggressive in the final third.

main thing is three more points though, further clear of City after this weekend too.

Giggs & Scholes should never feature at the same time again. Hernadez and not berbatov when going to take Rooney off later!? WTF

And as for this obsession with welbeck who needs 10 chances to score and is generally crap in and around the box, that just baffles me.

Anyway great, 3 points!!

I can't say much thats positive about tonight other than 3 points, so I won't.

as for the penalty, it probably was, but Murphy was definitely looking for it, was throwing his legs out to go down before the minor contact from Carrick, if Carrick had stood back he would have gone down anyway and looked like the cnut he is.

Jaysus, that was properly scary!

Sloppy from the word go, v poor, and on a night when we could easily (with a half decent performance) sorted out the goal difference

AND..... If I hear anyone trying to defend that muppet Rafael I'll go ballistic !!

Even the commentator said "it must be the easiest job in the world playing behind Antonio Valencia" - well not for that numpty it isnt. He has to massively improve, and fast if he's to hold on to that shirt for next season :nono:

It was a stonewaller. Looking for it or not, he was running through and he was kicked as he was about to take the ball on.

Rafael had a good game, what are you talking about? He didn't play badly at all.

Again, the handball in the first half wouldve been a soft pen. Same for the Carrick incident.
Murphy had overrun the ball and slowed down, Carrick was always going to run into him then.
Contact doesnt mean a foul. It wasnt a foul.

Carrick was behind Murphy. He can't touch him.

Clean sheet, a win and a goal off the difference BUT the comedy gold that will be from the RAWK conspiracy theorists is going to be far better entertainment than that load of shite.

he wasn't kicked though was he, there was contact but it was hardly Carrick taking a massive swing at him, Murphy throws his legs out, Carrick goes in to his leg, Murphy goes down as he would of even without the contact cause he never had any intention other than going down and screaming his ugly mug off for a pen.

Rafael was as good as anyone else on the pitch today - probably slightly better even. Only Evans was significantly better than him.

Murphy was the reason that Murphy fell, not Carrick. Pretty clear dive.

If we're discussing potential penalties, how about when Kelly handled Evra's cross? I'd say no penalties in the game was the reasonable decision(s).
We just looked so nervous.
We did. Hopefully this was our "annual hiccup" and we got away with it. Should've won it very, very comfortably.

So a shot on goal was out of the question then? FFS Carrick kicked his leg and he fell over from the contact. It's a penalty.

Did Carrick go for the ball? Yes. Did he get the ball? No. That's a penalty in anyone's book. Just be thankful from the Ref's viewpoint he couldn't be sure Carrick didn't get a touch of the ball. We got away with one, on to the next!

That was a clear pen, thank you ref for letting that slide, pheeww!

I think complacent is the word for that performance. Hopefully there won't be any more performances like that.

He kicked him and he went down. Looked as clear as day to me.

Booting the ball at someone from a yard or two should never be a peno unless they attempt to block the ball, which he didn't.

Kicked him? More like touched him.

Another terrific performance by Valencia, unfortunately for him he was like a studhorse with a bunch of infertile mares. Although he probably should've scored one himself too, so I suppse he can't complain too much.

The way we started, we seemed to settle well, good possession and getting forward. I thought that it was going to be a long night for Fulham, but it took us to nearly HT to score. Then I thought we'll come out the 2nd half, and maybe score one or two more, but it didn't happen.

Frustrating as feck tonight - sloppy passing, too casual at times, passes too short & not meeting their man. I don't know how Giggs completed 90 minutes, he was shocking. I'm calm down, I wasn't after the match. I'm well aware we could have fecked that up big time, especially if that ref had gave that penalty right near the end.

Of course I'm glad we got the win, and we're 3 points clear. I don't expect us to put in a 5 star performance every game, but I do expect a decent level of play, and tonight wasn't even decent, it was awful.

Anyway, onwards and upwards. Away to Blackburn next, and we can't afford to play like that otherwise we'll slip up.
