He's a better player than both. We really don't need Bale, Modric would be a more suitable purchase.
Yep, i don't see any reason for us to go for any other winger.

Aye. Bale is a very good player but we don't need him ATMHe's a better player than both. We really don't need Bale, Modric would be a more suitable purchase.
We turn him into a striker perhaps? What happens to Nani?
We turn him into a striker perhaps?
(ridiculous notion aint it?)
I am undecided on who would be more effective on our left side between Nani and Bale. I think there would be a case for either.
I would certainly not object to his signing. Although I know it will not happen.
Ryan Giggs at one stage had 276 assists in 573 career league matches(not official stats, a few places got together to put together the mentioned stats). He'd already played around 8-9 seasons, when the PL started counting assists, and even then he has 130+.
Gareth Bale will turn 23 in a couple of months, and thus far he has 16-17 career league assists. Bale is an outstanding player...but Giggs was setting records by the time he was 23.
276 assists in 573 games? Are you having a laugh? That can not possibly be accurate. If you really believe that stat, then i can only conclude that you did not actually watch Giggs in his first 10 years.

For me, Bale will never come near to the player that is Giggs, it's really pointless trying to compare them. Even if you want to remove the assist argument, Giggs was a much better player.

I'm probably underrating Bale, but I don't really think he's the type of winger who's excellent in a team that wants to dominate possession. I think the appearances (particularly the two Inter games) that made some people call him "world class" came in games where he was allowed space to run. His incredible speed is what makes him dangerous, but if you take that away - like teams do when they defend deep - I don't really think he's that special to be honest.
I know you could say that Valencia relies on his speed as well, but I think there's a few vital differences between him and Bale. IMO Valencia has a much better cross and is a much more selfless player who has a very good eye for his team mates. The times I've seen Bale play this season he's often gone on silly mazy runs or taken a no-hope shot on goal, rather than passing the ball to a teammate. Valencia is also incredibly strong, which helps him when going past his man if he comes close.
I can't see us buying Bale anyway. We bought Young as cover last season, and there's no way United in it's current financial position would spend £30m (or whatever Spurs will sell him for) on a player who's not going to be first choice.
Work out the numbers...he very definitely did achieve that. There are multiple sites that quote his career assists. That's how good he has been, and for that long. We just see a new watered down version, and have forgotten what Giggs was. I knew this would happen...and some people would doubt the numbers...his sheer longevity has become the talking point, and some people have forgotten what he accomplished as a player.
We had 'wasteful', 'inconsistent', 'infuriating' - Nani, get 18/19 assists in the league last season, and despite missing a lot of games through injury, on 8/9 this season. So, of course Ryan Giggs has averaged 11/12 assists a season over the duration of his career.
As for watching Giggs...I was only 8 when he made his debut in 1990, and in the US...no I definitely didn't watch a lot of him in the early years...but that doesn't mean I haven't since spent a fair bit of time catching up on United in the early nineties.
This is like the Arsenal fans arguing Pires was a better player![]()
I'd take Bale over Nani in a straight swap deal.

Pires was awesome for Arsenal and at times did have better seasons than Giggs but over the whole he doesn't compare to our Ryan and that's no slant on him.
Any particular reason why? It doesn't make sense for so many reasons.
Yep agree as it would give us better balance but Nani is far more talented, still think Robben is a better left winger than Bale though.
Its surely not a crazy opinion.
I think many would be unsure on who they would prefer between the two. It's not an obvious answer.
Nani looks like he has more talent. But Bale could perhaps be more effective.
Who knows though. I wouldnt swap the two as I simply don't know which I prefer and would be better for Utd.

It's a mental opinion.
"Looks like" he has more talent? He clearly does, and he has been a better player than Bale in the last 3 years (and MUCH more effective), contrary to overly wanktastic opinions from journalists based on a few great performances last season.
There should be no debate, Nani is comfortably better and I'd be disgusted if we were to swap/sell him in order to get Bale instead.
Better balance, despite Nani being more talented?
How so then, if Nani is more talented, this would suggest Bale offers something more in defence or attack. Neither of those are true.
Yes, it's fecking crazy.
Why swap a player, for a player who isn't as good?
Bale is not as good, or as consistent as Nani in attack, and there are no two ways about it, Nani is a much better defender. We also have the advantage of knowing exactly how Nani plays for United, and how we deal with him in our team. We don't have that same experience for Bale, it's a gamble, for a player who isn't as good. For me, it's clear who is a better player, and it's not in any one area, Nani is comfortably better than Bale.
When has Bale showed himself to be more effective?
Nani is 25, Bale 22... might explain it.
He offers better balance as he is a natural left sided player. He can also play left back offering us cover for Evra. Nani though is more talented than Bale and Valencia and is less consistent imo throughout the 90 mins. Where as players like Valencia and Bale are relentless with their work rate Nani imo has flashes of genius. Bale does offer better defensive qualities than Nani imo but as said Nani has that magic in him that both Bale and Valencia rarely have.
Not sure if seriousI'd take Bale over Nani in a straight swap deal.

Explain what?
Age isn't always the main factor in judging who the better and more talented player is, you know.
