He's been saying for a while that Pogba had an initial agreement of some kind with Juve. Obviously not a binding agreement if it can still be broken.

Money has the power to make some black players forget about the racism issues in certain countries (see Samba or Eto'o playing in Russia).
Don't think they've forgotten about it, not sure in the case of Eto'o but Samba wasn't too pleased when he got a banana thrown at him.

First of all ,football isn't like any other industry, the career length of a player is a lot of shorter than the work of an average joe.So ultimately, the player will try to amass as much money as possible during his career and it makes sense.

Secondly, racism is in no way acceptable however do you think a player who earns millions in a year would be affected by racism the same way I did when I was younger in France ? I don't think so, the player will and rightly publicly speak about his outrage but there is a lot of hypocrisy in these stories.Why play in a country you're more than likely going to get abused whereas there is a possibility for you to earn good money and play in a better environment.
Because as I said before, the prestige or stature of a club is less relevant, the most important factors are first team football, success and money. Not every young, foreign player chooses whichever big club offers them the most money.

This situation continues to confuse me somewhat in terms of the messages we get - for example this evening on MUTV, there was a Q&A feature with Pogba where he said the highlight of his career so far was signing for United because it was a dream, and that his goal in his career was to be a top player for United, and be a legend like Cantona.
Now of course he's going to be complementary on the club's TV channel, but giving those answers to questions that he could've avoided pretty easily seems a little odd given everything. If he's engineering a move away then those answers would make him seem very two-faced.
I'm of the view that the longer this drags on the less likely it is that he'll stay, but that's obviously not based on anything more than a feeling. Either way we'll survive.

We're in the middle of a title run-in, contract negotiations take a back seat, nothing will be signed by anyone until the race is over.
It looks very much to me like he's off to Italy but he won't admit it as it would harm his chances of playing for us in the interim.
Harm what chances, he won't be anywhere near the First XI unless we wrap the title up early, he'll be lucky to get on the pitch in the run-in even if he is on the bench.
I thought the same too at first but SAF has contacts all around the agent world and I'm sure he'd have gotten wind of any potential agreement.
It's a contract negotiation. It's the same as a union saying they will go on strike. That's his leverage and he's using it. Football is a business.
Is the issue money or playing time, if its money how can we justify not matching or bettering Juves offer? If you lose a player of that potential in a position of obvious need we either wait for another one to develop or buy another player which will cost as well. He is already in the club so pay the kid ffs and stop messing about, it makes us look small time compared to the rest of the big clubs imo.

We can't know what Juve are offering him. We can only know what the agent may or may not tell us. So market value is meaningless, as we know sometimes club pay over what a player is really worth in order to get him.
In reality, we may simply not know what is going on. Juventus are not going to tell us. Which leaves the agent, who may tell the truth or lie.
Rumour is that we're offering a better wage package than Juve. We're just not offering his agent anything.

its common sense, Juve are hardly going to offer anything outlandish for the kid are they. Fergies not stupid. If the agent is quoting Juve are offering say 50 or 60 K a week for him then Fergie isnt going to fall for that. By market value I meant that surely theres a ceiling for what clubs would pay for such a player.

I read somewhere that Chelsea got Lucas Piazón as Juve wouldn't pay him the 1m a year that he wanted. The rumours that they have offered Pogba 1.2m a year would certainly contradict past dealings.
All of that is true. But there's always the possibility we call their bluff - only to find out it's not a bluff and we end up losing the player. It's not without risk.
The 'negotiation' must be over by now - what we're prepared to offer must be clear and on the table. As must Juve's offer - if any. I don't believe David Gill is too busy in the title run-in to meet with Pog's agent and complete a deal.

In my opinion we should let him go. It had been dragging now for far too much.

It could all well be already sorted, but its just giving the press something to talk about.
I personally feel he will be staying, but lets just see what happens.
If he does leave to Juve then it will prove he just doesnt have the mentality to play for us.
We have given him a chance in first team football, we are reportedly giving him more / the same wage that Juve are offering, so there is no qualms there.
This reminds me of the Tevez saga, a player and his agent trying to hold the club to ransom. If Pogba does leave it's not exactly an insurmountable loss is it?
