Manchester City vs. Manchester United

------------------De Gea-----------------
Smalling-------Rio--------Evans-------Evra
--------------Carrick----Jones------------
Valencia-----------Scholes------------Nani
-------------------Rooney----------------

Subs: Amos, Rafael, Giggs, Young, Cleverley, Welbeck, Chicharito.

Or if Owen is fit, then maybe one of the striker spots on the bench, in place of Chicharito.

I don't think Jones should play. He's been shocking recently and you can see that his confidence is well and truly shot.

I don't think I've been this tensed for any United match in years.

I don't think i can bear to watch this game on the telly :nervous: So i'll probably use the matchday thread to know what's going on instead

8 days...

This will beat Chelsea at home last season in being nervous..damn.

Defo. At least last year we also got an early goal and were at home. This is against frickin City. This is going to be horrible, exciting, sickly, brilliant all at the same time. All emotions you can run through all wrapped up into one.

The wait is annoying.

Previous years we at least had something like a CL game to take us through the midweek. This year its just a 8 day wait.

Boy am I chuffed, thought I was on a film shoot next monday night, found out its tuesday instead.

.....................De Gea.......................

Jones......Smalling.......Rio..........Evans

........Scholes...Carrick...Giggs............

Valencia..........Rooney...............Nani

Park the bus and hit them on the break; City have to chase a win.

So we should feck up our defense for the most important game of the season?

I've been reading a couple of places that Yaya is suspended for this match with 5 yellows? Is that true?

I'm even feeling the nerves now, more than the days leading to our 2 previous CL finals

I had no nerves at all for the two CL finals. The last time I was this nervous was before the Wigan title decider in 2008.

Ah well, whatever happens we're still a proper club. Anything they 'achieve' is essentially worthless.

DDG

Rafael
Ferdinand
Evans
Evra

Scholes
Carrick
Rooney

Valencia
Welbeck
Nani

This. Probably Jones or Smalling for Rafael because of height...although Jones was pretty wank in the last couple of games he's played for us and Smalling is useless going forward.

I would start Jones at rightback, he did well there in the FA Cup game back then, just not at midfield please. The rest of the team picks itself with Rooney dropping deep to provide cover for Carrick and Scholes

451 please and although it's unfortunate for Welbeck he should miss out.

City are absolutely flying at the minute and if we go with our usual 4411 then we'll get beat.

De Gea
Smalling Evans Ferdinand Evra
Carrick Scholes
Valencia Cleverley Nani
Rooney

We'll defeat these cnuts. I can see us going for a 4-3-3 in this match.

Who would have thought that real would beat barca @ camp nou ? & barca were the form team going into classico....Just start Smalling or Jones at right back.no more Rafael this season.

I can't believe people are picking Scholes and Giggs (with Carrick of course) together in the midfield.

And Jones should start only as RB.

I keep repeating this but this is a match for old heads. Scholes and Giggs know what it takes to grind out premier leagues. This experience is totally new to the likes of Cleverley and Jones. Scholes and Giggs will both play, I'll put my house on it!

Giggs experience was very helpful at Wigan.

This experience thing is vastly overrated. Of course it helps but it's not like Giggs is going to know every single step of City's players because he's played in the league for 20 years. Younger players desire and hunger could also be looked at as a huge advantage.

I'm just second guessing the manager. The alternatives are Cleverley or Jones if we go an extra man in midfield. I really can't see him throwing either into a game of this magnitude. Experience is vital at this stage of the season, its a match made for Giggs.
