Apologies, I must be in the wrong place, I could have sworn this was the Hazard thread and I was hoping to see what his favourite colour was today but clearly I have clicked the wrong link, please carry on.....

It's gingham.

All this I'm going to Manchester business is just City's way of bigging him up so he can say he rejected us. Don't have a hope.

I think.

He might be a very good player but I'm already finding his constant media whoring very irritating. Maybe because in general our players tend to be fairly quiet off the pitch and don't tend to grab the limelight.

To be truthful he hasn't been media whoring, the meda are chasing him and asking him questions as it's the first big transfer story of the summer.

Just opened a beer to celebrate this fascinating signing, gambit says its a certainty.

He seems to be loving it though with his comments about not playing in the red of Lille again etc. Although with all the Twitter nonsense it's hard to gauge what he really has said and what he hasn't, so perhaps I'm being unfair.

But hey, if we do sign him and he's phenomenal for us I'm sure I'll forgive him if he's a total gobshite with a media circus in tow!

Although I do think if it's a straight fight between us and City he will go there...

No matter how many times you say this it never quite penetrates :) If UEFA say 'you are not eligible to enter our competition' that's the end of it. Their's is the final word.

The 'rules' were published to let clubs around Europe know in advance the future terms of entry to the CL. UEFA will interpret FFP as they see fit.

If City feared FFP and believed that there was even a chance that UEFA would ban them from the Champions League, there actions this summer would be completely different to what they are now. They have people in the office that would be saying "in order to comply with FFP we must do A, B, and C or we'll be in trouble with UEFA", but by the looks of it, this summer will be the same as every summer since the takeover.

Mancini has come out and said that City's spending will be on par with Real Madrid's and Barcelona's. They can sell Adebayor, Santa Cruz, Bridge and Johnson, but the money from their transfers combined, will still probably be less than the fee they'll pay for Hazard. Not to mention even though they are losing 4 players wages, whomever City brings in, their wages will exceed theirs, so the wage bill which is already horrific, will get worse.

Are these the actions of a club that fears punishment from UEFA ?

Stop talking about FFP in the Hazard thread ffs, it was dragged way off topic and it's just found its way back.

Take the FFP talk to the relevant thread.

Anyone think there is space for both hazard and kagawa. I am not saying they are similar players, but I think they would both fill a similar role within the squad.

If the kagawa rumors are true then i suspect Hazard is off to city.

On the other had it would be really exciting if we got both :)

It certainly seems City V United.

City:
- More dough
- Arguably as good, if not better, chance of winning trophies, particularly CL
- Playing with more talented players (current squad)

United
- History, prestige
- Decent whack but probably a good 50% less than what City will offer
- Great manager to look after him

It's going to be close. He is that good that he probably won't quite appreciate the value of having Fergie mentor him... i.e. because he will be a success anywhere imo

We'd have to ship someone out if we did that. Neither play as a true central midfielder, so even if we went 4231, that's still 3 positions for:

Young, Nani, Valencia, Park, Kagawa, Hazard and Rooney. I know our injuries are bad, but they're not that bad.

It would certainly give us lots of options, I think if we do sign kagawa then maybe Martinez would be a more productive signing as we would surely have to use Hazard as a wide man a lot and we already have great players there would also have to play 4-4-2 a lot to give Welbeck & Hernandez quite a bit of game time. Also that signing Martinez and Kagawa would make our midfield look incredibly healthy with a lot of options also. Especially with more look with injuries but obviously it's a big IF we could get him.

I really think we've chosen to sign Kagawa over Hazard. When it comes down to it I think SAF sees Kagawa as a creative team player who can play in a number of positions, he'll offer more off the ball than Hazard from what I've seen of the two. Fergie does love his flair players but we don't often carry too many, and currently Nani is ours.

It looks nailed on fo Kagawa, so I think Hazard is unlikely now, unless SAF sees him as a wide player to compliment Valencia, Young and Nani. But juggling those 4 would be fecking nightmare.

By the end of the season Welbeck will have seen off Rooney for that position. He'd link up miles better with a player like Kagawa and has already shown a superior understanding with Nani.

Im not sure why people think if we sign kagawa we wont sign hazard?

I think its pretty clear berbatov and possibly owen are leaving this year, hazard will take just 1 of those spaces.

having a wingset of nani, young, valencia, hazard and a strike force of rooney, welbeck, hernandez and kagawa. not bad at all.

I agree, I don't think Rooney is as comfortable as the focal point of attacks. I think Welbeck is developing into a top class target man. I think the signing of Kagawa and Welbecks development will mean a tough season for Hernandez, unless someone gets injured long term.

It would be a great squad no doubt but for me Valencia is first choice every match, so you've got Hazard, Young and Nani fighting for a left side spot and none of them are left footed. Seems stupid. You'd never play Hazard and Nani at the same time as they offer less protection, Young has had a pretty good firs season and will only improve next season.

I think if we're looking at a front 4 in a 4-2-3-1, then having Rooney, Welbeck, Hernandez, Young, Valencia, Nani and Kagawa would be enough first class talent with some of our reserves, such as Keane, getting opportunities. Oh and don't forget we still have Bebe!

The more i think about the possibility of Hazard it seems more unlikely. I have a feeling SAF would rather got for a Munian or even possibly Martinez.

Seriously guys. Let hazard go. He's chosen them over us. If we get kagawa we've got plenty to be excited about and will have more cash to spend elsewhere. Hazard is a wonderful footballer but clearly also a bit of a cock.

Ha ha. feck knows. Moura's been talking to inter. As for united, all I know is that both city and ourselves have been talking to two of mendes's clients. Matey won't tell me who though. I'd guess at Rodriguez but after that I'm stumped. Can't see Porto selling him if hulk goes to Chelsea.

If Hazard goes to City, isn't he then fighting for 1 of 3 places along with Aguero, Tevez, Silva, Balotelli, Dzeko, and Yaya? That's assuming Milner and Johnson leave, too. That's 7-9 players for 3, maybe 4 spots, under a manager who often likes to play it conservatively.

Rodriguez as the booby prize for the Hazard loser?
