No way, SAF has the tendency to give players other position that what they've been known but he wouldn't THAT stupid to turn a winger/attacking player into a central midfielder.

Anderson and Cleverley?

Won't happen. He's not even close to a CM. He will mostly play on the left wing where he can cut in.

The problem is he wants to play regular football, but we are well stocked on the wing. Assuming all our wingers stay fit, we already have Nani and Young competing for the left wing and Valencia on the right. Despite his potential, Hazard is not a better player than Nani now. Another option is playing him behind a striker, but then we have the same problem with Welbeck. We need squad depth but one for £35m? One of the reasons why I don't think he'll chose us.

It depends on whether Hazard see's himself as a winger or a creative midfielder. He may well want to play in the centre meaning that option would appeal to him. Who knows?

Nobody, that's who.

Something like...

--------Rooney-----------
Nani----Hazard----Valencia

Personally rather have a quick, dangerous CF in the Ruud 2002/03 mold to allow Rooney that free role in support. Welbeck will be that player in 2-3 years, hopefully, but in the meantime, who is out there that would love to play for United?

Honestly if I was a footballer of his talent, I'd probably take the money.

No one clearly, shut it down the operation has failed.

Would be the way to go in Europe and the bigger games, with Carrick and another deep(ish) midfielder behind them. Problem with games where we have two forwards is that Nani - Welbeck - Rooney - Valencia is already a great line out so it'd remain to be seen whether Hazard could operate in a 2 man midfield.

We have far less players that occupy his position than City do. They could provide the funds, but I think he'd play a larger role in our side.

Our attraction is not just our history, culture and also a very very good wage offer (just because we can't offer why City can does not mean we are miserly payers!!!!).

I think the other key selling point we have (and that City don't) is that we are going to the end of a transitory phase, packed full of young players and now just looking for the final pieces in that jigsaw. Hazard has the opportunity to have a team moulded around him and Rooney. And if successful, fast forward 5 years and he will be credited as being a central part of SAFs 4th and last great side and so will garner far more 'fame and glory' to his legacy than City can offer him as well as the guarantee of working for a world class manager after SAF leaves.

Perversely, by winning the league this year and now having a top squad, City can no longer play the 'be part of an exciting new project' card that they have done for the past 24 months. Any player who now joins City gets paid the highest salary but he will only ever be a small part of any future glory ... United offers any young and talented midfielder like Hazard, Martinex or Kawaga the chance to be a critical part of our future success given the imminent losses of Giggs and Scholes.

Good post. Completely agree. Citeh no longer have the 'project' to fall back in.

I know I am completely blinkered, but I cannot see why someone would choose City over United other than for cash.

Straw poll here, and honest answers.

How many games have you seen Hazard play?

I can understand people having seen a lot of players in La Liga, Italy, and Germany somewhat. All of these can be watched in the UK on our sports channels.

But Ligue 1? Who watches that?

What position is that though? Based on our formations this year we don't really have his "position" in our team. City do.

I've never seen him play. Hope that helps.. I've seen our other supposed target play about 5 times, and just heard plenty of rave reviews about the pair of them.

Hazard Signs

I've been so tempted to make this thread but I'd probably get banned or the Caf would implode

Red suits him very well, somebody send this too his twitter!

Fergie sign him up

He's an attacking midfielder/support striker. He can play on the wing, but his future lies in the central area with freedom to drift. We may not have his "position" in our side this year which is due to the fact we didn't have the personel. Our midfield this year was played in part by Carrick,
Scholes, Jones, Anderson, Giggs, Park, Rafael, Cleverley, & Fletcher. All of which, despite being a fantastic selection of players, fail to offer the attributes associated with a successful attack-minded midfield playmaker.

Off the top of my head City have utilized Silva, Nasri, Toure, Milner, Agüero, & even Tevez to fill the role between the midfield and striker. All of which are established international players, all are on huge wages, and most would claim the central attacking midfield to be their natural or first choice positions.

They still have the "retain the league project" or "win the CL".
Many of us are way too biased to try to understand players will to wanna join besides the money lure.
I 'm not ruling out money as an important reason but just saying that us being their rivals ultimately alters the reasons x or y player would wanna join City.

I've watched him since his first season as a professional footballer in 07-08

Where do you get this from? He plays as a wing forward for Lille, with J.Cole on the opposite side, the same role as Ronaldo at Real. And if he came to us he would most likely get a similar role to Ronaldo for us, the free roaming wing role.

I'm honestly expecting it to all end in the "I chose City over United because of footballing reasons" shit that we heard from Nasri last season.

So.. when are we unveiling him?
It'll be after the French league season ends.. sometime next week sounds good..
Just fecking do it before the break. The 40 day wait will be too much for half the caf.

Until I see a picture of hazard being poorly covered by a sheet going into a medical facility I'm believing nothing

If hes covered by a sheet how will u know its him and not luis suarez

The key words are 'poorly covered'. A bit like this:

I think if Hazard was in that scenario we would know it is him and not Suarez.

He certainly doesn't play on the 'wing' like our wingers do. He plays on the 'wing' like Sanchez and Iniesta do at Barcelona. Besides, we're very well stocked in our wide positions too, we have 3 of the leagues best wingers after all. If Hazard came here he wouldn't be playing in the role he plays as Lille, but if he went to City he'd be far more likely to play like that.

To be fair hes not covered, more shielded. But it was a poor klu klux klan reference joke anyways.
