This 'Sky sources' stuff today, concerning Hazard - suggesting he prefers United. Will try and give some insight into this in next tweets
Darren Can ‏@Darren_Can
From what I know, it's not mercato365, anyone on Twitter or random guess work. Dharmesh Sheth (Man United fan) spoke to Michel Seydoux yday
Darren Can ‏@Darren_Can
Michel Seydoux appeared on camera as he agreed to give people an update on what was going on. Then, with camera off...
Darren Can ‏@Darren_Can
..he may have said off the record that United has the edge. That's what constitutes 'sky sources'.
Darren Can ‏@Darren_Can
That said,Michel Seydoux may have just fed them a duff line. In the grand scheme of things,'Sky sources' isn't 100% fool proof. No source is

So that United are favorites came from Michel Seydoux?
Anyone else feeling optimistic?

I wonder why Sir Bobby says in his autobiography that Beckham refused a new contract then. And didn't Fergie say Rvn had already asked for a transfer twice?

He asked for a transfer after the Cup final dummy spitting.

No idea on the Sir Bobby one but I trust SAF and Becks, maybe Beckham had turned down a contract at some point as have Rio, Keane, Rooney in the past, doesn't mean he wouldn't have signed a new one had SAF not booted a boot in his head and opened a big rift between the 2.

A small bit, but we have being down this garden path before. Anything can happen, he could change his mind in 2 seconds easily.

They all signed in the end though

Exactly, the difference with Becks though is that his and SAF relationship went west after the "incident", from then on I'm bloody certain there were no more contract talks like there were with Keane, Rio, Rooney.

As I said, SAF and Becks say the same thing on the subject, that's plenty to know that we sold Beckham because WE wanted to.

I've always been optomistic that this transfer could happen as long as money is not Hazard's motivation. If Hazard's priority is money then he'll end up elsewhere but if it's about playing football regularly then we've got as good a chance as City or Chelsea do.

Hopefully SAF has spoken with him and convinced him that we can offer him a starting role and the opportunity to further his career (like Ronnie) as well as stability off the pitch.

It was in his book. He said he didn't want to dwell on the subject of Beckham, only to say he'd been offered a new contract but wouldn't sign it. I always got the impression that despite his being a fan, he still wanted to go.

Didn't Beckham sign a new multiyear deal the year before he left? They argued over image rights IIRC and Beckham wanted to know who the new manager would be since SAF was supposed to retire. Once SAF decided to stay IIRC things were wrapped up soon.

If you say so. Personally I'm not so easily convinced

Have you forgotten already what you said before? Making out its all a bit of fun and that nobody really thinks he will come. That was the biggest pile of crap I've heard. First sign of some Muppet on twitter making up more lies and you lap it up.

Ok. Everything is made up and we've no interest in him.

You can read my posts before in this thread and I've always been optimistic regarding this deal, i've said that majority aren't optimistic which is the truth.

Why are you all talking about Beckham in this thread? Go away.

Oh come on, cut this sarcastic crap. Take a look at yourself, you're taking some idiots word as gospel. Who the feck is Darren Can? I reckon its Certified Bullshitter 2 or 3. Nobody that knows SkySports reporters of anything like that, just some random Muppet on the internet.

One week ago I'd never have thought we were in for him or he'd even be interested in us.

Hope is slowly rising.

Sorry mate, someone bizarrely came in and said that Hazard would just move to Real in a few years anyway as top players like Becks, RVN and Ronaldo see us as a "stepping stone". EricaNo7 agreed.

Discussion is over now though, back to Eden.

It's impossible to second guess or predict where he might or might not go. Lets be honest, he probably doesn't even know himself yet.

To add to that, money talks and we don't have vast amounts of that at the moment.

I'm actually veering towards Kawaga more than this fella. I've not had the benefit of seeing Hazard all that much as I don't watch French football but I've known about him for a couple of years and he's always been highly rated. Still, the money being branded around on transfer fees and wages it seems like hell of a gamble to take!

Hopefully, it's true but with the weird dealings of transfers and games they play it could just have easily have been the Lille chairman getting City, Chelsea and Mystery club to buck their ideas up.

What about Chelsea and Arsenal then?

Actual bids? Don't rememeber that. Thought Arsenal were interested but only ourselves and liverpool bid?

I still refuse to allow myself to get excited about this. I was certain Sneijder was signing last season.

You just know Hazard will sign for City and Kagawa will sign for Arse after being tired of us waiting on Eden.

In muppet terms I'm a pessimist.

City have 2 bids in, have had for a while. One for RVP and one for Hazard. Both are final offers after negotiations were completed.

Fbloke (Andy M) ‏@TheRealFbloke
The club will not offer any more than they have already and so if others want to gazump its not changing any valuations or bids from #mcfc.

That said it may mean that City sharpen their pencils in readiness for secondary targets.

I have no idea who this guy is but just saw this. Might be reason to be optimistic. That's it for me until there's more actual news on this saga.

It's not hard to imagine us signing both of them, assuming Berba, Park and Owen all go.
