What does €230k work out at in pounds?

Honestly, Nani has similar stats to Hazard and is a better player right now a d this is in the Premiership, not Ligue 1. He doesn't earn what you're all saying Hazard will be given. You're all a but blinded by this whole situation.

I see Hazard has been elevated above what he actually is, as you did with Sneijder last summer.

It's not that we're elevating him, it's just the truth that many clubs are interested in him.People will get excited about a young player like him, it's perfectly natural. The rest (whether the hype was justified or not) will be demonstrated in the next few years (for those who won't be quick to judge him) by playing football.
I have a question for you, you're saying he's elevated more than who he really is ? Can you tell us what kinda player you think he is ?

Were we not talking about Welbeck ? How are we blinded by the situation ? I'd love to understand what you mean

On here he is made out to be Ronaldo in the making. In reality, still a good player but id say around Nasri level, though completely unproven over here.

I got it wrong with the Welbeck thing. Thought he was signing a deal for £80k a week but it was actually £45k a week. As I said, £80-90k max for Hazard I reckon

In an ideal world, it would be 80-90k max, but that's just not going to happen. If a player is your record signing, which he probably would be if we get him, and two of the world's richest clubs are also in for him, then you're going to have to pay somewhere near the 200k bracket. That may not be ideal, but it's modern football and we have to accept it if we're looking to sign top bracket players.

So pocco thinks we should be offering 80k /week to a record signing?

Jeez we'd never sign a top talent ever again. Come back to the real World mate.

Manchester United skipper Patrice Evra has told Eden Hazard to make the move to Old Trafford.

The Lille star is presently considering offers from United, Manchester City and Chelsea.

It is understood that the highly-rated Belgian has agreed terms with all three Premier League heavyweights.

Evra said: "I'm not his father but, if he comes to Manchester, I assure him that he will win titles. That's if he joins my Manchester not the blue side."

Gotta love pat :D

City have reportedly offered £110k a week.

I like their new stance of, "well we won a title on goal difference so we dont need to offer people ridiculous contracts anymore", it makes me feel a lot more confident in our abilities to land players in the transfer market when we both end up going for the same player.

He's not worth more than £100k a week. He's 21 and unproven. Besides, if he's on that much now, what's he going to get when we offer him a new contract? We can't just start him out that high, imo.

Isn't Young on 120 a week? If so then I think Hazard is worth that at least.

Yup me to, see how long it is till they change their mind on that one.

He's not "unproven", he's a 2-time French footballer of the year.

And if you think we'll get any top sought after talent for less than 100k a week, you're mad, we'd never sign another top talent again, other clubs would simply blow us out of the water.

I do agree with you in an "ideal World" though.

Think that was just a rumour.

You're basing your whole argument on what the 'papers report as players' salaries. There is no way of telling if they're accurate, so you can't really be basing your argument on these 'rumoured' salaries and then go around labelling those figures that don't fit in with your argument as 'rumours.'

How so?

Young is 26 and proven in the Premier League.

Proven? Tbh, before he signed for United I didn't rate him that high. Did you? Fair enough since he's come I’ve since retracted what I initially thought of him, but I wouldn't have gone as far and craved his signature if I’m honest, not like I do Hazard's. I certainly rate Hazard higher than I did Young before we signed him.

I thought the actual wage of Ashley Young has been confirmed as something much lower? Even if he is on £120k, he's at his prime and is proven in our league. We don't just give youngsters top whack, we make them earn it and keep them hungry to improve and move up the ladder.

Lets pay Hazard whatever he wants becuase Summit craves his signature!

Bloody feck, seriously lads? First it was an argument about how much United should or shouldn't pay for a player, now it's how much we should or shouldn't pay a player if we sign him. Stop worrying about unimportant shit. If United offer him a contract for £110k, £150k or £500k it'll be because that's how much they think his signing will be worth. Why would fans like us give a shit?

Ps, i'd give him £111,988.57 and not a penny more.

Stop being an idiot. I made a good point which you have completely ignored. BTW, a lot of people who support United want Hazard to sign.

We've bought many players as highly rated as Hazard and have many players that are bigger names and more accomplished players than Hazard. How many of our players are earning £120k?

You're not taking into account the fact that football, and wages in particular, are changing all the time. You can't really compare it to past instances really. Quite a lot of players signed previously didn't have two other rich clubs also going in for them at the same time, plus as I said the wage market is constantly inflating.

I think it's time to let the cocks out.

Based on that you would think Chelsea. They are rotten in the winger department.
