How good would this be?

De Gea
Rafael Vidic Rio Evra
Carrick Scholes
Valencia Hazard Nani
Rooney

You could have Kagawa playing a deeper role or signing someone like a Strootman/Martinez.

You could put Cleverley or Anderson with Carrick and it still looks a good enough partnership if either of them can keep fit with what is ahead of them as a front four. The depth is okay, the risk is relying on the fitness of Anderson, Cleverley AND Fletcher.

If United sign Hazard and Kagawa I don't think we will be signing another central midfielder.

Mata is their no 10. And just arrived last season mate. Dont see chelsea getting him when theyre heading for Moura. No gambit, we can't have moura too.

Well drogba just left and hazard is after playing time apparently judging his latest comments. So there is a spot to be filled in the team. He will get all the money he (his moth and agent) can think of by going there. They are in the CL now, unusual the sudden inclusion of chelsea in the mix of clubs after they won the CL.. I assume his moth is French? Potentially better weather in London, better standard of living than Manchester, closer hop to home given they have a Kid and all, just a consideration, most football fans don't consider family in the decision making process of a transfer

Chelsea would make a lot of sense, seen as hes hinted that hes changed his mind.

ya but that's still a stretch. mata currently plays in the position he wishes to play in and they havent even decided on a manager yet.

And considering Torres will fill the spot Drogba left vacant. Not mentioning Sturridge continues to express his desire to play centrally.

Actually the Carrick and Scholes partnership lost only one game this season, the City game where our outlets were Giggs and Park and Rooney on his own.

The other games we lost, Wigan, Atletico and Ajax all had Giggs and/or Park in the centre.

If you're saying it's weak due to lack of depth I'll agree with you but there is nothing wrong with that partnership, it just needs an outlet.

That's my point. 55-60 games x 2 = 110-120 games.

Scholes approx 20-25 games
Carrick 35-40 games
Cleverey 15-20 games
Anderson 10-15 games
Total 80 - 100 games with the normal injuries. If only one player have a long term injury we need another 20-30 games from the others.

Let's asume that Jones, Giggsy and Park share's the last 20-40 games and i'm deeply worried for both lack of quality and depth. Against City and Bilbao we where totally out classed. Not even close. We need at least one more quality mid, especially when there is no guaranties that Fletcher return to full fitness. Will we compete with City and advance to the KO stages in CL we need more quality then we had last season.

Looks more likely to be join Chelsea atm than us or city. More money, a lot of playing time I'd say and all this talk about him changing his mind point to Chelseas direction

So Chelsea have become the new City now. We're signing him I tells you.

Forget about Hazard. We should sign the Lille scout who discovered him instead.

Don't buy into the Chelsea chat, he's going to us or City, more likely City IMO.

Guys he plays for the red devils already, what are you worrying about?

Let another Hazard day.....BEGIN.

That partnership also lacks pace, energy and it could be a lot more mobile. And if Scholes reverts to his 2010/11 form we're back on square one - this time we'll have no rested, hungry legend to call back from retirement.

Code:
                 De Gea

Smalling Vidic Ferdinand Evra

           Carrick Cleverley
Nani Kagawa Hazard

                 Rooney

SUBS:
Lindegaard, Evans, Scholes, Valencia, Young, Welbeck, Hernandez

My thinking here is that it's a return to the more dynamic, interchangeable system that we used when we had Ronaldo/Tevez/Rooney around.

Which would leave Rafael, Jones, Park, Giggs, Fletcher, Anderson out, not to mention others I've inevitably forgotten. Obviously Giggs/Scholes will be phased out in what SHOULD be their final year, and Fletcher is still a mystery. For Anderson this may be his last chance to impress. Knowing our wobbly injury record, Rafael and Jones would still get a lot of games over the season, so just because that might be my "first team" it certainly wont be picked every week.

For instance, there will be plenty of games when going with our 4-4-2 system and relying on Valencia to cross to Rooney. The key thing is having personnel that allow us to go to Plan B or Plan C when required. Currently we're stuck hoping Plan A works.

Anyway. All currently a moot point until we see Gill with his arm around them while holding a Utd scarf.

Monday, probably won't hear anything until then.

de Gea
Jones Vidic Evans
Scholes Carrick
Kagawa
Valencia --- Hazard ------ Nani
Rooney

If we were to sign both and ignore CM then this has to be SAF's thinking, anything else would not make sense. Cleverley, Anderson, Scholes can all share/fight for that 2nd midfield role.

Hazard is chelsea bound imo, would be gladly proven wrong but I don't see it tbh

Don't see how Chelsea can give him a clear picture of his role and how much game time he's likely to get considering they don't have a manager.

Personally I can't see him going anywhere but City.

Regardless, the amount of talking he's doing makes me slightly uncomfortable about signing him.

Absolutely agree 100%! Some Norwegian pundits actually compared City's midfield to United's and they believed United's, with Carrick and Scholes was just as strong, if not stronger than City's! It's just that we've had so many injuries etc that we haven't played the same midfield and same CBs over a prolonged time - so something is bound to slip.

I'm excited about Hazard in the 10 role, so let's hope for the best! Wouldn't you think that he and the wingers, Nani and Young in particular, would switch positions during matches?

Key issues for me are that with Chelsea he cannot have any guarantees because they have no manager, thus no set style of play currently. How can they promise him position when there is no tactical direction apart from the fact the owner want attractive football. They do have room for another forward though.

At City there is far too much competition. Not saying he won't be better but they rotate a lot.

At United he's got a slot there ready for him, and the most famous number to wear. We know they have agreed personal terms with all three clubs so money, unless it's a close call should be no issue.

Do you think that Hazard isn't just demanding his playing time and position, but also demanding the number 10 shirt? We would have a problem if that was the case.

If Chelsea get Guardiola then it changes everything.

Guillem Balague ‏@GuillemBalague

I was at Guardiola's pressa yesterday. He didnt say "for the next month I have to recharge my batteries and my mind",, he said "months"!!!!

I think Guardiola will be having a year off tbh.

Sounds like the most ridiculous thing to base this decision on. Ronaldo, fat Ronaldo, Beckham all changed numbers when they had to, much bigger names than Hazard.
