Eden Hazard | "I am signing for Chelsea"

His performance was a bit of a let down but it's harsh to judge him on his performance based for his country. Even Messi isn't half as good for country as he is for club.

True, I havent seen Kagawa for Japan either.

I've seen just the two games from Hazard, today and a quiet game against Valencia a while back. I'm just a little worried I've gone along with the hype, having seen what hes actually capable of in some youtube clips because he hasnt done any of it during the few matches I've seen so far. And maybe I've been wrong to agree that he'd be better than Kagawa (just, unlikely for us to actually sign him so not worth worrying about)

He's being interviewed!! Someone translate

Hazard: We played well, but in the end we made two errors that caused two goals and that's why we didn't win today.

Interviewer: That's something we've been saying for a long time now

Hazard: Yes, it's true, we keep making the same mistakes. We must continue to trainhard, gain experience and try to win matches.

Interviewer: Did you have fun on the number 10 position, with the number 10 jersey?

Hazard: Yes, it's the position I prefer. And with players like Witsel, Dries (Mertens), Kevin (Mirallas) around you, players who like the ball, it's easy playing there.

Interviewer: Especially you and Mirallas found each other very well today.

Hazard: Yes, we know each other well. But also Mertens. We played a good game offensively, had some good chances but unfortunately we couldn't win the game.

Interviewer: Can you reveal your next club to us?

Hazard: No, I don't know yet.

Yeah he was a bit rubbish tonight. Showed great vision on a few occasions, but other than that he was extremely wasteful and not really penetrative at all.

Oh, and the interviewer ended the interview with 'I don't believe that' and Hazard just laughed sheepishly and walked away ignoring the remark

 at the interview. The interviewer tried to lull Hazard into a false sense of security hoping that it would lead to him slipping up.

The most I've seen of him.. was it his off day?

I haven't seen much of him at Lille, but if I have to judge him based on international games, I also think he's hyped a bit too much. Every time I've seen him play for our country it was ok and you could definately see the talent, but he was very wasteful and could be so much better if he was a bit more concentrated and made better decisions.

Let's pull out then while we can! To the Kagawa thread.

He's much better for Lille than he is for his country, it's like judging Rooney on his England form alone.

Is this the same Wayne Rooney who at 26 is the joint 7th highest scorer in England's history, the same Wayne Rooney who was the second highest scorer at Euro 2004, the same Wayne Rooney who was selected in the team of Euro 2004 and the same Wayne Rooney who was second top scorer in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers?

I think he was just saying Rooney plays better for club than country. Making your International Debut as a 17/18 year old striker i would expect you not to be too far off the all time record scorers before your international career is over.

The same Wayne Rooney who continually looks on the periphery of a game when he plays for England compared to being the vital cog for his club side? The one with the incredible recovering male pattern baldness? Yes that one.

Not getting into an argument whether Rooney is better for his club or his country, it's his club and it's not debatable.

I think the one who's scored 3 goals for England in the last 2 years...
Either way what he is trying to say is you can't ever judge players on international form, if you did then you would think Klose was one of the best strikers ever and Messi/Ronaldo were just decent players.

Rooney and Ronaldo have overall been good for their international teams, they just don't play in very good teams at international level.

Interestingly Hazard had only ever scored 1 international goal before tonight.

I take your point on Hazard but I think that you are wrong about Ronaldo and Rooney.

I'm glad he had an underwhelming game tonight. I've never actually seen him play, so if we don't get him, I can now tell myself he wasn't that good anyway.

If we do sign him, I will instantly be convinced that international football doesn't count.

I don't think they've been anything better then just decent overall in their international careers, earlier on they were both much better for their countries than they have been lately, but you can't say that they have been in the same standard as they are for their clubs. For their clubs they are world class players, amongst the best in the world but if you only watched international football and never heard of anything else you wouldn't think they were amongst the best out there.

Watch out for the "we were never in for him"-"it is not club policy to comment on transfer speculation" gang if (when?) this transfer doesn't go through. There's going to be at least five threads on the subject in the United forum.

I am quite sure we'll get something from Fergie either way. He very often has something to say regarding publicly known transfers. I'd imagine he'd shake his head at the wages City offered Hazard, if that's the way it goes.

Hmm, I've watched a few YouTube videos, and there looks to be some good attributes we could use there. Beyond that, I've seen pretty much feck all of him.

For anyone that has watched him on a consistent basis, and I'm guessing that excludes the vast majority of people in this thread, how much of a cock out signing would he be? Through the zip, trousers fully off or what?

Seriously, You don't need to watch him that much to know what he is capable, KingEric7.

Impressive. I know awards can be a load of bollocks, but that's excellent given his age.

Do we really need him, like desperately?

If we really need to break the bank to sign a player, i rather it be a DM

Cock ripping through the trousers and poking the monitor in front of you.

He was excellent at euro 2004. That was 8 years ago. He's done nothing special since. Poor at all the major tournaments since. Any manager would take Diego Forlan's brilliant show at the actual event rather than being 7th of a list without having any relevant impact for 8 years.

Nugget Belgian again.

This is the same article that has been mentioned several times in earlier pages.

Why are we posting articles that are 3 days old? Dont you know how fast the caf is?
That was posted about 50 pages back.
