Shinji Kagawa | Signs for Manchester United

They play in exactly the same position ffs

Yeah they do or atleast hazard wants to in future but there is no doubting they have pretty different styles. Hazard can dribble through tight spaces and in a way very similar to Nani, while Kagawa is more of a passer and finisher is the final third. So in a way he is right in saying Nani will have more direct competition for a place in squad if we sign hazard than Kagawa.

I don't think either Hazard or Kagawa are a better fit for us, they have different attributes in the same sort of role but both are quality, I think Hazard's ceiling of potential is higher but Kagawa is no slouch and at 23 can still become even better than he already is.

Thats not what he was saying at all, care you trying to suggest Messi should have taken Iniesta's place in the team as the trickly little dribbler? You can have more than one dribbler in the team ffs.

If we sign Kagawa and Hazard, which i doubt we will, but if we do. I don't expect us to have fixed positions. I think we'll more than likely see everyone switching and rotating like we did when Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez and Giggs were playing together.

Kagawa is a more a sneijder style player - that was my point

when I've seen Hazard play he's played out wide - where we are very well stocked

we have an excellent dribbler in ashley young who has played behind the main striker with limited success

my point is that to be an effective number 10 in that trequartista playmaker role you need to be mobile, have excellent passing and link up play

with that in mind I wondered if Kagawa is a better fit seeing as he has done it successfully for Dortmund - does Hazard have those qualities to do it effectively?? If we were just looking for a good dribbling player to play there we could have played Giggs/Nani there the last couple of seasons

I kind of see it as Hazard being a Messi style player, whereas Kagawa reminds me more of Iniesta in style. Who we will sign is anyone's guess but it seems like we are waiting to see how the hazard situation turns out before we look to complete a kagawa move.

Tbh, IF we are signing one of Hazard or Kagawa to play the number 10 role, I'd prefer Kagawa.

Hazard led the Ligue 1 in assists, I suspect he can pass well enough for the role.

...
Hazzard is the embodiment of the classic number 10. With the wizardy on the ball to boot.

Kagawa is more akin to a young Scholes, but with superior dribbling skill.

He's played there for Lille for virtually all of the last two years, he's not Aaron Lennon.

Rough translation by someone on another forum:

First he talks about the possible United transfer. Kagawa says he hasn't decided where he's going to go, so he can't make any comments about it. Then the interviewer asks Kagawa a lot about his talk with Ferguson. He says that Ferguson said it would be a big challenge, and he wants to believe in him. Said he felt honored/happy to be praised like that. It goes on for a long time.

Then the interviewer asks about Arsenal and Kagawa says "Oh yeah, about that... Let's talk about the Euros"

He says he doesn't speak English, but he really wants to study/learn it.

He says that he thinks Germany will win the Euros (because Puyol is in bad shape and Torres isn't good), but he says that unlike the Japanese NT, the German national players don't get along so well because of the divide between Bayern and Dortmund players. He says his hope is that second place will be Spain and third will be Poland.

He says Poland will succeed because of the three Polish Dortmund players. Lewandowski is "everywhere, all the time" and "will do it for the team by himself."

His favorite teammate is Hummels. He says hes the best CB in Europe, his passing is super good and his face is totally hot.

And Ribery is very scary and apparently talks a bit of shit. He doesn't fear Robben, even though he's fast and skillful, he always does the same cut in from the right so he's predictable, so he and a FB make sure to pull into the region that he always cuts into from the wing. Ribery, though, if he has the ball, you don't know what to expect since he can do so much.

I'm starting to think the Kagawa signing would be a better signing than Hazard. Far less hassle, less costly and less expection. Hazard doesn't seem like the sort of person that will take kindly to being rotated either.

Both of them wouldn't go amiss obviously, but Kagawa is a class act from what I've seen.

I think I'll be more upset if we don't get Kagawa to be honest.

Depends how quickly he can overcome the language barrier, I assume he's learned German so he's clearly not Tevez levels of moron which is a good start.

I'd prefer kagawa anyway. Hazard might be more of a Muppet signing but I think kagawa would suit us more. wouldn't stop wanking for a week if we signed both of them though

If we do end up signing Kagawa & Hazard I would be wanking all summer. But usually United sign a target quick fire. Whenever there is a long dragging saga more often than not we don't end up signing him, Berbatov & Hargreaves being the only exceptions I can think of.

I'm sure he can speak some English, all young Japanese people do.

I think it's about time we showed Kagawa some respect and invested more time in this thread than the Hazard one.

Kagawa >> Hazard

We'll invest plenty of time on Kagawa when the time is right.

I have no clue were these statements come from. Hazard has by far more ability AND potential imo.

Slight generalisation there but I see your point  he does say he doesn't speak English according to the newbie so he's got a learning curve to navigate anyway.

It's not generalisation, they all have English lessons at school from a young age.

Didn't someone mention earlier in the thread that his German is still rubbish?

I'm going to stop here before I go into my rant about footballers not learning the language when they join clubs.

Germans fecking difficult. Far harder than English.

Someone posted a vid of a recent interview in German where he needed an interpreter.

I had 2 hour French lessons 4 times a week from the time I was 6 until I left secondary school at 16, I even managed an A at GCSE. I can now say hello, socks, horse and count to 5 (as long as it's in song form). I'm an extreme example obviously but lessons don't mean you can speak the language.

Eh, Valencia can barely speak a word of English despite being over here so long. You wouldnt know it by the way he plays with his team mates on the pitch.

Other players get cited for it, he doesnt. But he does show that its not 100% needed to be a success in this league even if it would be better. Who knows, maybe Kagawa and Valencia can take some Engrish lessons together.
