He might be disappointed though if he expects Dortmund's home crowd atmosphere to be the standard at OT.

"What do you mean it's not as loud? No, no, no. It's the ecoustics, probably. It's actually louder, if anything."

Great to hear that he actually likes Manchester, hopefully it suppresses those 'dreams of Madrid/Barcelona'

the dortmund fans (and german fans in particular) are fantastic though

isn't the price of tickets a lot more reasonable as well?

Japanese football fans were all brought up on English football, I dont think there is much chance he will be pining for Spain, I think while he was in Germany he was pining for England.

Yep.

Apparently said that his eventual ambition was to play in England.

Nah, I watched a specific japanese interview of a year ago when he explained how Barca is the pinnacle of football and he was waxing lyrical about them and that that was his ultimate dream. "It is art."

He might prefer the Premier League (I hope), but he's yet another Barca fan, which is normal seeing that it's a great club indeed.

Nothing wrong or surprising about it. They're a fantastic club, to be expected that players worth their salt would want to play there.

didn't shinji have trials with barca and madrid? Not sure if he did but im sure i read somewhere that he did.

i think he'll become our best player.

He will excel because expectations are relatively modest due to his relative anonymity prior to last year, his mostly smooth transfer, and amenable personality. Good times ahead...

Shit, I can't wait to see him play today. Most excited I've been about a signing in a long time.

Are you suggesting he's easily controlled and susceptible to suggestion? That's worrying, if anything.

I watched the match to see Kagawa's debut.

Two months ago, I watched a French league match to see what was Hazard's decision.

I'm disappointed.

What the feck? He got like 5 minutes, I feel shortchanged. Obviously bought just to sell shirts in Asia! Bebe missed out on valuable playing time for this.

And those muppets... wanted a new player, they got him. Wanted to see him, were excited and nothing happens - one offside and loses the ball.

Like a transfer window in just 90 minutes.

OK, so we all presumed Kagawa had been bought to play behind Rooney hence giving us that extra man in midfield. However, given the fact we tried to sign Hazard and are in for RVP are we wrong?

Potentially and a bit disappointing if true. I was quite looking forward to seeing him in attacking mid, increasingly as I think Rooney would be better off as the main striker. Additionally it just seems unneccessary to try and convert under player to the middle. The lack of tactical know how of playing there has put unneccessary pressure on us in the past and don't see how this will be different.

Tbf though if he is planning on kagawa in the middle then we're gonna have a hard time giving clev, ando, kagawa, scholes and giggs time in the middle. And in particular with clev and ando both really needing games this season then will be very interesting if we sign rvp.

I'm guessing players will be shuffled all over the place throughout next year. Would be a shame to see Kagawa play out wide given the threat he offers through the middle.

I've no idea how Fergie's gonna fit in all the attacking options we'll have next year if he doesn't do this sort of thing, though. These rumours about Lucas coupled with the Hazard saga suggests we're looking for yet another winger/attacking mid. If this is so, we're looking at this:

Kagawa
Rooney
Valencia
Nani
Welbeck
New signing
Young
Giggs
Hernandez
Berbatov (maybe...)

That's an incredible set of attacking options, but I do worry as to how we'll keep them all happy. Can see Young and Hernandez struggling in the next few years.

I dont think any fan or even Kagawa himself would be dissappointed by having RVP and Rooney up front together so Kagawa gets less time in the middle and plays more on the wing.

Thats despite being a big Kagawa fan and having lots of belief in him. We're talking about the league's top scorer and player of the season, possibly the most complete striker in the world. I'm sure he'd just be happy to play alongside him and learn from him

Yet we need another CM.

Are we? Giggs and Scholes need to be playing as little as possible so a choice of Clev, Carrick, Kag, and Anderson if he stays around is about right if you ask me. Then Scholes/Giggs when/if needed.
I'd still like another midfielder though personally
We're still lacking an exceptional midfielder there really.
