I foresee alot of goals coming from different areas of the pitch. Kagawa will bring out the best in our wingers and other players.
I think the comparisons to Park are exactly the same, and as bad, as the people who say "i don't want Moura because Kleberson and Anderson never worked out" or "not an Argentinian. Remember Tevez, Veron and Heinze". A player should be judged on their own merit but unfortunately there seems to be a prejudiced misconception that players from the same country or region must have common traits
well....actually, they do have the same traits. Hard workers, team work ethics, skills that over the last ten years of increasing investment have allowed them to develope dam sight better ball control/skill than most english players. The comparisons are cultural, ethos...that is all...
You think Park has more skill and better ball control than most English players in his position at premier league level?
It's actually easy to judge him. By using your eyes.
He looks class. Feck knows how Fergie will fit him, Rooney and Welbeck into the same team but I hope he finds a way.

no I'm not...but the work rate and team ethic yes.
Fergie compared them himself. So that doesnt help

Isn't that just a generalisation though? I know that we all do it but to suggest that Asian players have a better work rate and team ethic than English players is stupid. I could name many workhouse English players with varying degrees of on the ball skills from Rooney to Milner to Parker etc etc. Park played predominantly as a winger whereas Kagawa plays in attacking midfield position. I know Park played that role from time to time but predominantly he didn't. If you had said Kagawa has a similar work ethic to Rooney then I would understand as they look to play similar roles. Comparing him to Park is just a lazy way of saying that all Asian players possess a high work ethic whereas in reality I'm sure they have as many lazy buggers as we do
Anyway not having a go, as I feel PC is already way way over the top, just thought I'd make the point
Think Rooney is being a bit underrated in the number 10 role here. Let's not forget his performances in the second half of 10/11 where he was easily one of the best in the world in that position, excellent in big CL knockout games etc.
Kagawa has done well in pre season and I'm sure he'll do great for us but I think Rooney is being underrated here in that role. Scoring 35 goals behind the striker is a bit special as well, even if his general play wasn't to the consistent levels we expect.
Both encouragingly and depressingly at the same time, he looked a level above the rest of our players when he came on.
Maybe just an issue of fitness and him being a little further on with pre-season, and no international tournament.

I suppose its because I'm married to a "tiger mum" asian woman and have just learnt their whole ethos to life that I make the comparion. And yes...it does spread to all the respective asian nations.
Having said that....yes there are lazy ones, and generally they are the ones who upped and left and have settled in the west because the schooling and working hours are so bloody torturous in their home countries.
But I take your point...I won't compare anymore.....
Look, do we REALLY need to compare Park and Kagawa? Sigh, I thought this was covered about a year ago when we were first linked.
wasn't nakata a bit of a lazy arse?
I thought Kagawa and Welbeck by far were our best players yesterday. Welbeck faded as the game wore on, probably due to fitness issues.
Im interested to see why people dont think Kagawa could play in a 2 man midfield for us.
He has the ball control, movement and passing ability required. He seems very energetic aswell.
With all the talk of Van persie coming in, and us generally playing with 2 strikers and 2 wingers, why could this not be an option?.
Kagawa reminds me alot of a young paul scholes in a way, and with him being partnered by carrick i think they could be a lethal partnership, like he and scholes were in 07/08
Because you've listed about half of the qualities needed for a central midfielder in a midfield 2.

So what is he missing? what does he miss that scholes does not?

Now this guy looks value for money. Could be bargain of the season.
Well if he does good for us price will rise to 20 mio. afaik but still a good price considering that Hazard cost twice as much and surely isn't twice as good.

"Teams had worked us out quite easily. We were a complete 4-4-2 team, relying on the wide players to do a lot of defending for us and attack. We got strung out in those games, so we had to start thinking about playing three central midfielders to make sure we were not exposed like that again.
"So there were disappointments like that but, as you go along, there is a way you find that is suited to playing in Europe. I think with the kind of midfielders I have, the three helps us in European football. You keep the ball better, are far more patient and have more control of the situation than we used to have."
