Manchester United has teamed up with Fuji TV to provide exclusive club content to viewers in Japan.

The world’s most valuable sports team is aiming to make further inroads into the key Asian market following the recent signing of Japanese playmaker Shinji Kagawa from Borussia Dortmund.

The three-year tie-up with Fuji TV will see MUTV content such as full match coverage, interviews and behind-the-scenes footage made available on Fuji ONE, TWO and NEXT.

Additionally, Fuji TV will air pre-match preview shows and post-match interview specials, as well as documentaries and archive programmes.

United’s commercial director Richard Arnold said the Red Devils’ following in Japan numbers four million and added: "MUTV is a must for any Manchester United fan, offering up-to-date and exclusive news, interviews and archive footage.”

“The dedicated channel has a reach of 60 million worldwide and the club is delighted to be partnering with Fuji TV, one of Japan’s major TV channels, to bring MUTV to Japan.”

Meanwhile, billionaire investor George Soros has bought a stake in United following the club’s flotation on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on 9th August.

Soros' investment fund, Soros Fund Management LLC, bought about 3.1 million Class A shares, according to the Securities and Exchange Commission, equating to a 1.9 per cent stake in the entire club, worth about US$40.7 million at the close of trading on Monday.

The 82-year-old investor, who previously considered a takeover of Italian side AS Roma in 2008, oversees around US$25 billion in assets.

Don't know if this had been posted or where to post it.. anyway

Billionaire investor George Soros has bought into Manchester United.

The Guardian says Soros took a nearly 2% stake in Manchester United plc in the club's controversial initial public offering earlier this month.

The billionaire was one of the first of the football club's new investors to be revealed. His hedge fund, Soros Fund Management LLC, owns 7.85% of United's Class A shares, or about 1.9% of the entire club, according to a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

Soros is one of the closely watched investors in the $2tn (£1.3tn) hedge fund industry, and oversees about $25bn in assets, even after returning money to outside investors and converting his fund into a family office last summer. The firm now mainly manages money for Soros, his family and his foundation.

I cam here to post the same thing. http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-F...-united-and-fuji-tv-launch-mutv-in-japan.aspx

Incredible. Any idea how much United are getting for this deal?

Sky still own a third of the channel so the club wouldn't get the whole consideration from the new deal, but I'd think the real benefit here will be the added exposure of the brand () to the Japanese market.

Makes a further nonsense of the claims Kagawa was bought to sell t-shirts, he was clearly bought to sell tv subscriptions :smirk:

Reds announce Toshiba deal

Manchester United has announced an agreement with Toshiba Medical Systems to become its Official Medical Systems Partner, the first partnership of its kind to be developed with a UK football club.

The five-year partnership will see the two iconic brands come together to provide state-of-the-art medical equipment to the club’s medical team, based at the Trafford Training Centre in Carrington.

The Carrington training ground is currently undergoing a major redevelopment for the first time since the senior team moved there 12 years ago. Rapid advancements in sports science and medicine have meant existing facilities cannot cope with the demands for staff and equipment.

This exciting redevelopment and new partnership with Toshiba Medical Systems is crucial in ensuring the club’s facilities are at the cutting edge of sports technology.

Already a household name in electronics, Toshiba Medical Systems’ innovative technological advancements will help give United’s players the best care available, further demonstrating how the club’s commercial ventures can assist its on-field activities.

Hopefully that Toshiba deal does mean an improvement for the medical team.

So basically this means Toshiba will lend us a couple of 60 inch plasmas to be placed in Carrington.

Is it just me or limiting yourself to one brand is not really a good thing?

Depends how limited the deal is....for cars, wine, travelling etc...it probably is a good deal because the quality isn't really important to the clubs core business

For electronic equipment used in medicine - I can see your point. But hopefully they have picked the best rather than the one with the deepest pocket

Are you certain about that? I would think the exact opposite is true.

fecking hell at this rate, we might have sponsors for Fergie's chewing gum or hair gels.

Fair play to them, Toshiba are putting their reputation on the line with our lot.

Third one now. It's crazy how many deals of this kind we have signed in the past one year.

This is the club’s first partnership of its kind and we are delighted to be able to work with such a well-established company that, like United, has over 100 years’ experience in its field. Manchester United has almost 4 million followers in Japan and every time we visit, the welcome we receive is overwhelming. What do these type of deals actually mean. So if we travel to japan we use their products, or can they uses United's name as part of their advertising?
