We're back ladies! :)

De Gea

Valencia
Ferdinand
Vidic
Evra

Carrick
Cleverley
Kagawa

Nani
Rooney
Welbeck

No room in the starting 11 for RVP? :D

It feels like ages since I've watched a competitive United match, so I'm really looking forward to this!

De Gea
Valencia - Rio - Vida - Evra
Nani - Carrick - Scholes - Young
Welbeck - Rooney

Will happen imo.

Will be a tricky game, a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 formation is what I'd like to see with Kagawa starting.

Lindegaard could start the season as #1, although I'm hoping we give DDG the chance to continue the impressive form he showed at the end of last season.

He's had a good pre-season and Steele made some comments a few weeks ago saying he has every chance of starting the season as number one. It could happen, but I'd prefer us to start with De Gea.

Carrick anderson
Nani kagawa young
Rooney

Welbeck or young on the left wing, but this is pretty much the lineup I'm expecting. Anderson's had a pretty good pre season so I expect him to start. Kagawa has been our best player so he has to.

Nah, not a chance! De Gea's problem last year was the uncertainty around his place, he'll definately start this season first choice, and we'll see much less rotation than the first few months last season

Is Scholes injured? If not I fancy him to start.

de Gea
Valencia Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Carrick Scholes
Nani Kagawa Young
Rooney

Lindegaard; Rafael; Anderson, Cleverley, Giggs; Welbeck, Hernandez

is Rafael injured?
No.

However, he played in the Olympics all the way up until the final, so a little extra rest is very possible. He was also a dick in the final and had a bit of a stinker, so it wouldn't surprise me to see him rested in a game like Everton away.

think we will go 4-3-3 with rooney dropping deep to support Carrick/Scholes or swapping welbeck for Anderson with Rooney up top by himself. Either way it will be a tough game as Everton usually give us. Think Evans will partner Vidic even with no game time but if hes not available then I expect Carrick there :nervous:

Last seasons away (1-0 win, Hernandez)

DDG, Jones, Evans, Vidic, Evra, Carrick, Cleverley, Park, Fletcher, Rooney, Welbeck, Hernandez (Subs: Berbatov, Nani, Valencia)

OK what gives? For what seems like years the police make this game kick off before midday and now all of a sudden its OK to have a night time kickoff?

-------------------DDG

Valencia------Rio-----Vidic-----Evra

---------Carrick-----Cleverley

Nani-----------Kagawa--------Young

----------------Rooney

*only 2 tricky positions are
Cleverley over Scholes/Anderson
Young over somehow trying to accommodate Welbeck

de Gea

Valencia
Ferdinand
Vidic
Evra

Nani
Carrick
Kagawa
Cleverley
Young

Rooney

SUBS: Lindegaard, Rafael, Scholes, Anderson, Giggs, Welbeck, Hernandez.

Missing - Jones, Evans, Berbatov, Smalling, Fletcher, Powell, Macheda and Bebe.

If we do actually manage to sign van Persie by Monday I imagine he'd be on the bench. Looking at those options I still think we could do with midfield reinforcements. State the obvious perhaps but when it's laid out like that... but in the meantime, fingers crossed we start the season strongly with a good win.

Good line-up, but assuming Welbeck and Jones are injured (as they missed recent pre-season games) then I'd personally like to see:

De Gea
Rafael---Vidic---Ferdinand---Evra
---Carrick---Cleverley
Valencia---Kagawa---Nani
Rooney

Bench: Lindegaard, Scholes, Giggs, Young, Chicharito, Anderson, Berbatov

It's always a risk playing Rooney at Goodison, particularly when he's lacking fitness, but we can't leave him out clearly. Scholes and Hernandez to come on when the Evertonians are tiring.

I expect in reality that Scholes will start, possibly Young also, and with another striker starting with Rooney (say no more :smirk:).

I've seen some speculation that Fellaini and Gibson are doubts - anyone know anything on that?

Going to miss this, because of work. Fecking Monday night. I'll record it and watch it back.

Dave
Rafa Vida Rio Evra
Carrick Scholes
Nani Kagawa Welbeck
Rooney

Match day thread. :)

Seriously tough game, glad Everton no longer have Rodwell and Cahill.

2-1 United, Kagawa and Shrek.

Surely Jones is ahead of Valencia at RB?

He ain't fit for the start of the season; back strain. Being checked out, hopefully they'll totally fix it up and won't have to hurry him back to recovery.

Putting Valencia at RB and still playing 442 @ Everton after they put us to bed @ OT scares me! They are a good team, and they just might break their early season woes with us! They are a solid top 8 team, and going 442 away to them is going to be mightily difficult, especially if we add in a winger @ RB.

By the by, why can't we have Rafael at RB? Is he going to be given an extended break after the Olympics?

Surely we could play him @ Everton then rest him against Fulham (Home) & Southampton (Away). He'll surely be keen to make up for his gaffe in the final.
He's a far better RB than Valencia is, off form or not.

Can. Not. Wait. Steak, Beer and Football with the misses for the kickoff of our season. Shame its a Monday night mind.

Team I'd like to see,

- Dea Gea -

- Rafa - Vidic - Ferdinand - Evra -

- Valencia - Carrick - Cleverley - Nani -

- Kagawa -

- Rooney -

Hopefully we'll start strong.

Best possible line up (Cleverley/ Scholes are interchangeable imo, each has their advantages.. shows how great Scholes is at that age to be up there with our best academy-made player for a long time).

Totally ****ed up thing is, since they always dick around with the dates and times, I'll be able to watch 90% of the first half (7am-745am) but my bus comes at 7;50... so i'll miss the entire second half... and no doubt I'll get told the result by some arsehole, before I come home & download the match via a torrent.

Generally, the matches are at an ungodly, but totally watchable time of 2-5am.
