Everton vs Manchester United

I actually named Scholes but then later changed it to Cleverley, we know what Scholes brings to the table so I thought I'd Cleverley to be given the chance in a strong team to see what he does.

I feel bad for complaining about it being on a Monday night now knowing what are overseas fans have to go through!

I wouldn't go with scholes personally, if Clev is fit we should get him involved. Also tbh I don't think this sort of game suits scholes. I think he should be utilized for home games and against teams who we expect to sit back and stay deep.

Bah, I hate Monday/Sunday night kick offs..

Let's just say that for the late kickoff for the City derby which we lost 1-0, I wanted to pick up the flu, and conveniently my body's defences allowed one to creep through :)

Can. Not. Wait. Steak, Bear and Football with the misses for the kickoff of our season. Shame its a Monday night mind.

Team I'd like to see,

- Dea Gea -

- Rafa - Vidic - Ferdinand - Evra -

- Valencia - Carrick - Cleverley - Nani -

- Kagawa -

- Rooney -

Hopefully we'll start strong.

Agree with this. RVP on the bench ;)

Worth noting Valencia, Hernandez and Kagawa have long trips for the internationals midweek.

Oh and when's the last time we ever played at Goodison at night?

Worth noting the game is at 8pm on Monday.

I'd start Rafael, so no Young (Nani and Valencia start) and Kagawa behind Rooney.

My preffered line-up:
De Gea
Rafael Vidič Ferdinand Evra
Valencia Carrick Cleverley Nani
Kagawa
Rooney

Yeah that would help. But we've got a large enough squad to rotate players if someone does not return from international duty at 100%. Someone like Scholes would get to train all week and prepare for the game.

I'd be very surprised if Rafael plays. Six games in two weeks for him because of the Olympics and knowing what Fergie is like with wanting to rest players after summer exertions - he'll only have had a week since the bronze medal match.

De Gea

Valencia Ferdinand Vidic Evra

Nani Carrick Scholes Young

Kagawa

Rooney

For some reason, I've convinced myself that'll be the line up.

Expecting:

--------De Gea
Valencia-Rio-Vidic-Evra
Nani-Cleverley-Carrick-Young
-------Rooney-Welbeck

Want:

--------De Gea
Valencia-Rio-Vidic-Evra
----Carrick-Cleverley
Nani----Kagawa---Welbeck
---------Rooney

9 days, but your probably right. I doubt Rafael will play.

He's also been called up by Brazil for the game against Sweden this week.

We lost the title because of our own incompetence in that match against them.

I imagine Scholes will start with Carrick in midfield even though I'd like to see Cleverley start. Rooney and Kagawa through the middle, Nani on the right if Valencia is RB, and Welbeck on the left.

I have a feeling that if we go for it we will win this. It would be stupid to sit back when Goodison is literally rocking, i'd like to see a debut for Naismith or a start for Barkley too.

I'd like to see:

--------------------DDG------------------
Rafael------Fedinand-----Vidic--------Evra
------------Carrick------Scholes----------
Valencia----------Kagawa-------------Nani
------------------Rooney-----------------

Expecting a tough and narrow win, probably 1-2.

1-0 Everton

Van Persie OG '89

Until little Paul Scholes and Shinji Kagawa exchange 1-2's with headers (in the 90th minute) which results in the ball falling to Valencia, who powers it in with his left foot from 30 yards right into the top corner.

Phil Neville then quickly restarts the game, and boots us possession straight from kick off like QPR did, and then Kagawa plays through Hernandez... whose offside but the linesman doesn't call it, and then Bluemoon/RAWK get all mad and talk about how corrupt we are and how we hold all the political power in football.

Scholes to Giggs volley. I thought, at the time, that that was one of the last time we would those two legends together. Boy was I wrong.

I'm hoping for a 2-0 win, would be great if we managed to keep a clean sheet.
Everton aren't usualy the quickest of teams to get up and running so this might be the best time to play them at goodison, granted it's not like we were tearing it up in the pre-season.

I could see this also, but it would be far more sensible to surely give him a rest when we have more defenders fit and available for selection

Yeah he's barely had a preseason. Bench for me. Will be eased into things.

My prediction is Kagawa and RVP will start on the bench.

He's a massive tease is that Fergie...

Scratch my older lineup, Rvp changes everything.
De gea
Valencia rio vidic Evra
Nani Carrick Kagawa young
Rooney Rvp

That attack is ridiculous, we actually have like the best attacking options in all of Europe.

Van Persie will definitely not start. I doubt he is match fit, and he needs time to gel with the team. He may come on as a sub, but I think we can look at a debut at Old Trafford instead.

I think Kagawa, Valencia, Rafael and Hernandez, due to having to do some travelling, will be rested. Vidic, Anderson and RVP (if he signs) might not be fully fit. Giggs just had a taxing summer. Rio to be banned? So, I think the lineup vs Everton might be:

.........................DDG.....................
Jones.......Smalling.....Evans........Evra
.......................Carrick....................
Nani.........Cleverley..Scholes.....Young
......................Rooney...................

We'll play the tried and tested lone striker formation and be patient. A draw wont be such a bad result.

The Fulham game though, that will be interesting.
