Berbatov | Fulham player

can see him going back to Germany, he did well there with Leverkusen so makes sense for him to go back to the Bundesliga if an offer comes in.

I really really want him to get a good deal now, it worries me that a player of his age and calibre could rot in the reserves. He's worth more than that.

I think it's getting more and more likely that he will get a loan deal for a small sum just to get him off the wage roll.

Milan,Inter,Juve could be interested.

Milan need a striker
Inter are looking for a Milito back-up
Juve wants a player who can score 20 goals per season.

Jesus fecking christ you'd think with players like Bendtner getting several offers that there'd be atleast one for Berbatov

Perhaps he doesnt want to leave to a lower club? he might be happy running his contract down.

In all honesty I suspect this might be the case which doesn't make him much better than Adebayor in that respect.

:nono:

fergie should not have extended him only 6 months ago in march.

So what you are saying is it is ok for fergie to extend his contract so that utd/fergie can get a transfer fee for him provided that berbatov lower his wage demands himself?

Why doesn't fergie drop the fee to '0' which is what it would've been if he didn't extend berbatov in march? He/utd wanted to play cute and get a small fee and berbatov rightly isn't going to get pushed around.

And i say this as someone who thinks berbatov is the leper of football.

The problem is his salary. The Italian clubs cant afford it at the mom.

Fergie mishandled this transfer from the start. I don't blame Berbatov to dig his heels in.

I got no problem with whatever Berbatov decides to do.

He is on 'a contract' with us and given the club has decided to do what it believes to be in their best interest, its hardly unfair to allow Berbatov to do whatever he deems best for his life. If that means he runs down his contract on a salary other clubs won't offer him, thats his prerogative. The club will have to suck it up.

I have felt uncomfortable in the way he has been treated in his last season. I hope one day, we hear why that was. Until then, I wish him well in whatever he decides.

Exactly like Adebayor then.

The reality is we should never have signed Berbatov in the first place. He was just never top 4 quality.

I think Berbatov has quality but he was never the right fit for us and that really boils down to the manager. Everyone who watched berba play knew what type of player he was and how teams got the best of him by building the squad around him - this was never going to happen at United.

There has been no indication he wants to do that though! All we have heard is that Berba feels uncomfortable receiving wages when he isn't playing and has asked to leave.

It's like a wind-up. I don't believe that no club has asked about him, and if we don't intend to play him then why extend his deal? Does Ferguson despise him or what?

Surely van Persie has to get the no.9 shirt..

We're never off-loading 'tov before tomorrow though, so do you think he'll have his number changed?

Look, I really admire Berba's talent & it's a real shame that the move hasn't worked-out for him or for us but he wouldn't get away with acting-up at United and he knows it; the boss wouldn't stand for it. So it's no big surprise to find that Dimi has behaved professionally during this difficult time; effectively, he had little choice but to toe the line. He was no saint towards the end of his time at Spurs, remember.

I wouldn't blame him if he stayed...

but what's the point?

He can be the leading man on another show...he's never going to get that with us anymore. It's best he exited stage left.

I agree, Berbatov has been very professional through this. Even if he doesn't get into the squad for any league games, I'm still sure he'll start some League Cup games until he can be sold. After his abrupt leave from Spurs, he's shown that he can be a model professional even at difficult times. Compare this to someone like Tevez..

Now it seems even more difficult for him and he surely must go. If the fee is the problem then maybe we should lower it even more cause it will be silly and financially stupid don't selling him knowing that he won't get any playtime next season. If the wages are problem, then he should make a cut in wages (like many players do). There are only some clubs who can afford his wages, and he isn't that good to eb signed from them (excluding Arsenal). He has said that he don't want to be a reserve and taking a cut in his wages is the only way he can play next season. Im surprised the spuds havent come knocking for him to return, at that price hes a steal and they are beyond desperate for striker at the minute

Haven't they just signed Adebayor, who IMO offers more than Berbatov. Anyway 2 top strikers would be good for them and realistically in this market he is one of the best signings (although wages can be a problem here, unless he lower his demands). But maybe they don't want a United reject, as we don't want Madrid's rejected players (Sneijder, Sahin).

SAF on attacking options:

"But what gives us even more strength is the different combinations I have now. If you go back to the '99 season, I had [Andy] Cole and [Dwight] Yorke and also Teddy [Sheringham] and Ole Gunnar [Solskjaer] - I had the four best strikers in Europe. Now I've got Wayne, Robin, Danny Welbeck, Chicharito, [Shinji] Kagawa - it's a fantastic collection of players and hopefully I can pick the right combinations!"

No mention of Berba... no doubt he'll be leaving unless noone comes in with a reasonable bid.

Well he did say a month back that berba was leaving, berba said it himself as well. It'd be really surprising if he mentioned him in the first place!

I'm thinking those lower table clubs know it's more likely to get Bendtner to sign than Berbatov. That's a massive gulf in class betwee the two, as well as wages.

"In 1999 I had Dwight Yorke, Andy Cole, Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the four best strikers in Europe. We are going towards that now with Javier Hernandez, Wayne Rooney, Robin, Danny Welbeck and Shinji Kagawa.

It's like he doesn't even exist anymore :(

I hope the "four best strikers in Europe" is just simply missing a key word.....being 'of'.....Fergie is delusional and all, but not that delusional.

Shit image removed.

Wikipedia has him scoring 48 goals in 108 games, has a forward ever been so maligned with such a good scoring record?

I can see why he's been made a peripheral figure at United, but I don't understand why other teams below our level aren't fighting to take him from us. As I said before, he'd score a ton for Newcastle or Everton. Or he could basically guarantee staying up for any team in the league, at a price that's a fraction of the reward for doing so.

Maybe they are plenty of offers but none that he quite fancies just yet, most likely I'd say.

Maybe Brendan Rogers wants him and SAF has told him to GTF.

Who knows.

In 20 years people will look back and see 48 goals in 108 games, lots of assists, and 2 league titles. Not feckin bad.

We will be old and tell the new glory hunter generation that Berbatov had one of the best touches around, scored a hattrick against Liverpool including an overhead kick. He also won the golden boot without penalties while our talisman threatened to leave the club.

But then we will say he flopped in some big games and didn't suit our style. Shame.

Perhaps Berbatov's stats and titles will create a more positive legacy in the future.

Well said.

fletcher has had bids rejected at over 10m and no one wants this guy.
golden boot , titles , touch and not a single clubs come in for him to date or they have and they've offered feck all.

It is nothing to do with the fee. Is that not obvious? It must be the wages. He is probably after a 3 year contract too. Which is understandable
