Everton vs Manchester United

If RvP were to come on, who would he replace and in what position?

On this evidence, the central midfield problems still need some solving.
If this lot have us one the ropes, I don't want to imagine us facing Chelsea or City; even Newcastle will probably win the midfield battle against us :(

De Gea has been amazing! We would be two or three goals down now but for his brilliance.

We've made Everyone look like Barcelona and Fellaini like fecking Messi!

Shinji demonstrating pretty plainly his superior level of technical quality compared to his teammates. Teammates have to step up, United still look like they're in preseason mode.

De Gea with some monster saves

Dont agree we have had a poor first half, there has been some cracking play from us and yes some poor but first match of the season at Everton and still 0-0 at half time, I am happy.

Rooney has been poor granted and Scholes and Nani have to be careful on yellow cards.
DDG has been outstanding.

Cracking play? where?

Rooneys been sloppy but he came into the game more as the half wore on. Turned into just meh and not shit. Kagawa has been brilliant, but we are really bad defensively. Not anyone playing particularly poorly back there, more of a case of just carrick and Valencia are midfielders/wingers playing in defence. I can see welbeck and nani coming off around the 60th minute for Rafael and RVP, maybe only RVP on if we aren't winning.

Valencia and Nani has been frustrating down the wing given how good they both are offensively. Although perhaps Val's been told to curb his runs 'cause of Baines.

Stating the obvious, but we need to find a way to combat Fellaini, if we can stop him holding up play whenever Everton boots it upfield they've not really got anything to fall back on.

What a fantastic half that was. Been constantly shitting myself all half, and we may have to bring Anderson on if only to have someone as strong as Fellaini, but that was great.

That was one of the best 45 minutes you are likely to see from a keeper and all. Well in De Gea.

We've been very good with the ball but very poor without it! Mainly as a result of missing Carrick from the midfield.

Thing is, he's been head and shoulders above any player...which is amazing considering it's his united debut. The rest have been dross though.

Def should take scholes off for second half. Just not worth the risk imo, crowd will be loud again after the break and we can't afford to go to ten men, one bad challenge and he'a gone he's already had a few that could easily have gone wrong.

Kagawa looks really good we just can't handle fellani. Vidic is great but fellani is pulling on to everyone else. But can't do anything about thy we just need to make sure we win the second ball. Reckon we can get through then in attack, just need to get some better luck and may be try going at hibbert.

If RvP were to come on, who would he replace and in what position?

Well, Rooney if we're being brutally honest.

But it would most likely be Welbeck and Rooney goes wide. Can't drag Rooney off at Goodison in the first game of the season.

The thing is, Carrick isn't even putting Fellaini off the slightest. Either the latter brings it down on his chest or plays the header exactly where he wants to. Doesn't help that he doesn't really have a jump on him. Seems to move about half an inch above his normal height when he jumps.

Joey Barton - Decent 1st half there. Everton making it difficult for Man Utd. Kagawa looks a very good player. De Gea has made some decent saves. Game on

Michael Owen - Loving the fact that De Gea is silencing his doubters. Will make more mistakes in his career but people too quick to criticise last year

Robbie Savage - De gea looks bigger and stronger this year , come for a punch early on and got clattered , shot stopping fantastic , kagawa impressive to !

Chris Kamara - Really enjoyable 1st half of footy, best chances to Everton so far De Gea playing very well in goal for Man Utd, roll on 2nd half

Ian Macintosh - Poor old De Gea never gets any praise, purely because he has a habit of wincing when someone punches him full in the face at a corner.

Nick - Jamie Redknapp still not convinced by De Gea though obviously

We are losing the battle with Fellaini and not looking all that smooth in attack. Cleverley has kept it safe and Kagawa looks our best chance of opening them up. De Gea has been superb.

Scholes has absolutely no time on the ball, which is usually the norm when playing against Everton. Rooney looks unfit, and I'm not basing that on that sorry excuse of a header he attempted. Van Persie will come on for Kagawa in the second half, not immediately though. Referee being a bit of a homer.

We've weathered the storm, they will come out pressing in the second half. It will last 15 minutes, if we do not concede in the next 15 minutes, we will have a great chance at snatching a gol at the end and winning this game.

Eeep. Scary stuff. Scholes well of the pace. Nani poor, Rooney poor.

DDG amazing, Kagawa has done well. Evra has been our best defender. Vidic needs games.

Need Everton to tire. But right now I'd take a draw

This. He is so much better on the ball than the likes of Welbeck or Rooney it's not even funny. Rooney needs about a minute to get control of the ball.

Everytime Kagawa is involved, he's looking to create. Need to just pass it to him even if there's someone behind him - he'll find a way.

This was always going to be a hard first game of the season, De Gea and Kagawa have stood out for us while I think Welbeck is wasted on the left. We're missing Carrick playing in his usual position too, bloody defensive crisis before the season starts,Jesus

That's what Vidic said to the ref.

Yeah, look like he pointed towards Fellaini and rightly so.

No big decisions yet, but lots of minor ones going Everton's way in the first half. We've been poor too it has to be said, apart from DDG with fantastic saves. Kagawa is looking good too. Wouldn't mind getting RvP on early in the second half instead of Rooney. If Rooney had actually been entirely invisible in the first half it might have been better for us.

I'd bring Rafael on, take Welbeck off (sorry Danny you've been great but the team comes first), move Valencia wide right, Nani wide left and Kagawa off of Rooney.

Give Rooney 20 mins to improve then sub him off for van Persie.

Nope, not worth it in the long run.

Would like to see Carrick in that midfield instead of Scholesy. Or Tom, to be fair. Not on top of things there at all. Kagawa the best signing we've made in years on that evidence.
