Saturday 25th August 2012
Barclays Premier League
Old Trafford, Manchester
KO: 1500 BST

We need to win and put in a convincing performance.

Hopefully Evans is fit. I expect RVP to start and I'd like Kagawa to continue playing off the striker rather than being shifted out to the wing.

Feeling we'll draw this

--------------De Gea--------------
Rafael-----Vidic-----Evans-----Evra
Valencia-------Carrick--------Young
---------Rooney-----Kagawa-------
-----------------RVP---------------

Subs: Lindegaard, Wootton, Anderson, Cleverley, Nani, Welbeck, Chicharito.

--------------De Gea--------------
Rafael-----Vidic-----Evans-----Evra
Valencia-------Carrick--------Young
---------Rooney-----Kagawa-------
-----------------RVP---------------

Subs: Lindegaard, Wootton, Anderson, Cleverley, Nani, Welbeck, Chicharito.

I don't get this, sorry. Carrick the only midfielder? Is it a 4-3-3 or 4-5-1?

Ian Ladyman said Ferdinand is only out for a week so has an outside chance for this game, as does Evans who is back in training. I suppose that Buttner could make the bench if necessary. Best case scenario:

de Gea

Rafael
Ferdinand
Vidic
Evra

Valencia
Carrick
Kagawa
Nani

Rooney
van Persie

SUBS: Lindegaard, Evans, Anderson, Cleverley, Young, Welbeck, Hernandez.

I bloody hope Evans is fit to start!

Fulham will be massively up for this after the two teams' respective results which may well play into our hands a bit. They'll feel like they've got goals in them which should give us a bit more space than we got tonight. It'll be nice to actually see RvP touch the ball in a threatening area!

Sorry, shall I change it to 4-4-2 and put Kagawa in beside Carrick in midfield? Then Rooney up top with RvP?

I don't now, Kagawa is wasted in a midfield two. If I could decide I'd fecking bench Rooney and play Kagawa off RvP.

-----------------De Gea--------------
Rafael-----Vidic-----Evans-----Evra
Valencia-----Carrick--Anderson------Young
-----------------Kagawa-----------------
-----------------RVP---------------

Or Cleverley for Anderson works just as well.

I'd throw Butters straight in there - he can't be as bad as Evra was tonight. It won't happen I know, but Evra seems to get constant brain farts. Takes the piss.

Kagawa needs to play.
RVP must start this one.
Have to hope Evans/Rio will be fit for this one.

De Gea
Rafael E/F Vidic Evra
Valencia Carrick Anderson Kagawa
Rooney RVP

I'd hate to shift Kagwa out there, but I wouldnt like to take the risk of playing him in the centre until our defense has stabilized completely. A clean sheet is vital against Fulham.

Edit; I'd drop Rooney too for Kagawa to play behind RVP, but we all know that won't happen.

Thanks God we don't have to face fellaini again for a while, we make him look like Messi.

Thanks God we don't have to face fellaini again for a while, we make him look like Messi.

Mahamadou Diarra and Moussa Dembele to face at the weekend instead...

My team would be

De Gea

Rafael Vidic Evans (by God's grace) Evra

Cleverley Carrick

Valencia Kagawa Rooney

Van Persie

I'd also make sure Chicharito is on the bench encase need a goal and would look to replace Rooney with Welbeck if Wayne plays as terribly as he did tonight.

De Gea
Rafael---Carrick---Vidic---Evra
Valencia---Cleverley---Scholes
Rooney---Kagawa
RVP

Bench: Lindegaard, Anderson, Wootton, Nani, Young, Welbeck, Chicharito

I've zero faith that we'll have a second centre-back fit, so slip Rafael back in but otherwise the same (only?) backline as Valencia will help-out/cover for Rafael. Harsh on Welbeck to be dropped but priority to get RVP a start and hopefully up and running with a goal.

Front three to rotate positions, with Rooney and Kagawa to drop back when necessary to help the central midfield. Valencia to back-up Rafael as said above, but also have the freedom to charge down the right, and if necessary tuck-in to help the central midfield.

High scoring game i reckon.

2-2, 3-2, 3-3, 3-1 if we're lucky.

Nani and Rooney should by rights have played themselves out of the XI, although that will likely only apply to the Portuguese.

Doom, gloom etc.

De Gea
Rafael
Carrick
Vidic
Evra
Valencia
Scholes
Cleverley
Kagawa
Rooney
Van Persie

If Evans fit - play him, then Carrick would be in for Cleverley.

To be honest, Fulham at home tends to be United's most nailed on 3 points of the season. 4-0.

Very tight game last season, with the penalty scare at the end that c/should've cost us two points.

On the brightside Danny Murphy has finally fecked-off :smirk:

--------------- De Gea

Rafael ---- Evans ---- Vidic ---- Evra

Valencia - Cleverley - Carrick - Kagawa

----------Rooney - Van Persie

If Evans isn't fit and we have to use Carrick in defense again, Anderson next to Cleverley.

An emphatic victory would be nice. I mean I'm never against an emphatic victory, but after what happened against Everton that would be especially good. Think it'll be tight though. 2 - 0, with us getting one early and another from a counter attack late on when Fulham start throwing men forwards.

de Gea

Rafael
Evans/Carrick
Vidic
Evra

Valencia
Cleverley
Carrick/Anderson
Young

van Persie
Welbeck

Drop Rooney, Scholes, Nani.

No dicking around

Rafael---Vidic--Evans--Evra
-------Carrick-Scholes
Val--------Kagawa-----Nani

Big wide pitch at OT and you want to go with Kagawa on the left?

Last 10 league matches against Fulham, W7, D1, L2:

2007-08: United 2-0 Fulham [Ronaldo, Ronaldo]
2007-08: Fulham 0-3 United [Hargreaves, Park, Davies OG]
2008-09: United 3-0 Fulham [Scholes, Berbatov, Rooney]
2008-09: Fulham 2-0 United [Murphy pen, Gera]
2009-10: Fulham 3-0 United [Murphy, Zamora, Duff]
2009-10: United 3-0 Fulham [Rooney, Rooney, Berbatov]
2010-11: Fulham 2-2 United [Scholes, Davies, Hangeland OG, Hangeland]
2010-11: United 2-0 Fulham [Berbatov, Valencia]
2011-12: Fulham 0-5 United [Welbeck, Nani, Giggs, Rooney, Berbatov]
2011-12: United 1-0 Fulham [Rooney]

We've won 4 of the last 5, and at home we're undefeated against Fulham for at least 5 season, so let's hope for more of the same. Rooney and Berbatov like to score against Fulham, but I doubt we'll see the Bulgarian Vampire.

--------------DDG
--Valencia--Evans---Vidic----Evra----
--Nani-----Carrick--Cleverley---Kagawa--
-----------Rooney---RVP------------

Nani and Valencia will make up for their poor start. We need Carrick in the midfield, and Kagawa on the left can have license to roam inside like he does for Japan.

Big wide pitch at OT and you want to go with Kagawa on the left?

I envision him more as an attacking midfielder there than a winger, basically I think we have to play Rooney behind RVP and as a result need to put Kagawa either wide left or partner him with Carrick. But that's just how I would do it, which is saying very, very little.

But if SAF would pick Welbeck out there then I don't see why he wouldn't put Kagawa there.

Actually I think it would end up looking more like this:

Fulham have some big units in their side, hopefully we'll have either Rio or Evans back so Carrick can go back into midfield at the very least. I also think Kagawa must start whether RVP does or not, he looked our brightest spark tonight.

De gea
Rafael carrick vidic evra
Valencia Anderson cleverley kagawa
Rooney RVP
4-0 to us, expecting a strong reply. RVP to score 2, Rooney and kagawa with 1 each.

Drop Rooney. Play Kagawa behind RVP, Welbeck, or Chicharito. Maybe he'll play better with a kick up his fat arse.

---------DdG
Rafael---Vidic--Evans---Evra
----------Carrick-----------
--Cleverley-------Anderson--
-----------Kagawa-----------
------RvP-------Rooney-----

Cut out the wing play completely and work on a more direct 1-2 central passing system.

Welbeck was awful as well. Didn't look anywhere near match fit. If anything I would like RVP up top alone but it's not gonna happen because well, it's Rooney we're talking about. SAF knows better than to drop him after a poor performance because most of the time he has poor starts to the season and you just gotta persist with him.

Dave,
Rafa, Keane/Wootton (won't happen but I'd rather we played a proper defender), Evra
Valencia, Carrick, Scholes, Nani
Kagawa
RVP

Maybe we are going to line-up in a 4-3-3 formation like this one:
De Gea
Rafael.... Evans.... Vidic.... Evra
Anderson....Carrick......Cleverly
Van Persie..... Rooney..... Kagawa

Can't wait. I'll be sat next to the mighty Sultan.
