Think it's harsh on him but I had a feeling he would be. He's not so big as Rooney that Fergie can completely drop him without the press kicking up a big storm about it. Plus could have a knock.

But if Evans hasn't trained since last sunday then what the hell is he doing on the bench?

Evans was training in the last training pics revealed. However Nani was also there training. Could've picked a knock in training though.

Evans hasn't trained since last Sunday? I thought he trained this week?

I hope there's no more to it than a knock. Selling Nani would completely ruin the transfer window for me.

I'm sure i read that, here it is

"Evans was doing well but felt it in training on Sunday and hasn’t trained since. I’m not sure whether that is long term or a short-term setback."

Does anyone actually know that he's been dropped and not picked up a knock?

I hope so but I doubt it.

Very worrying that he's not even on the bench. Yes, it's good that we've got a plethora of attacking players that this sort of thing can happen, but on the wings I'd much prefer Nani as an option than Welbeck, RVP or Rooney.

If he doesn't have a knock then it's a baffling decision with his contract up in the air. Yes he played poorly against Everton (a lot of our players did), but to leave him out of the squad entirely is daft.

I just realised how odd the opening post of this thread looks now that we don't have "best winger in the country" in the title.

Last week we left Hernandez out of the squad, that mean he's off.
This week it's Nani.

Selling Nani would be up there with getting rid of Stam for me. fecking ridiculous that we are even considering it.

Not even comparable. Stam was our main man at the back. If he was fit, he would play. No fecking about.

Nani isn't even close to that status within the side.

Ah thanks for that. Not sure why people thought he'd start today then.

Clearly Fergie doesn't think he's as good/important as some on here are keen to insist he is.

Yes. Very clearly that is the case here.

He's our top fecking winger and one of the top three in world football still to hit his peak?!

All the wanking over that Lucas bloke was laughable, this seems to be worrying.

According to who? Because Fergie obviously doesn't see it that way.

Or, you like everyone else, has no idea why he is not playing, because you don't know if he has been dropped or has picked up a knock. Stop talking shit.

I'll refer you to post 3 on this page in answer to that.

The way our squad is right now, there's always going to be one big name missing out completely. I still think he got a slight knock though.

I think people here are over-reacting, Rooney and Nani were shocking vs Everton. Low and behold SAF has dropped both.

SAF is just stamping his foot down and saying "no ones place is secure". Hopefully this will be the kick up the backside they need

Nani over Young every week for me. I don't care if he was shit he is far superior to Young. If Nani is purely getting a bollocking then I don't really mind, but if he's off I would be gutted.

I already acknowledged it might be a knock. But until that's confirmed I'm working off the presumption that it isn't.

It's hardly the first time Fergie has dropped Nani.

So if you don't mind, I'll carry on thanks.

It's the fact he is not involved that is surprising. He has 3 strikers on the bench. You would have thought Nani would be in, instead of one of them

I agree. For me he'd be one of those that should start every game (within reason, obviously). Being rotated has Ben a feature of his time at the club though.

Agreed completely.

Do people not realise what's going on by now?

About 5 years ago when Anderson and Nani arrived, Ferguson realised that due to the laws of physics, only one of them could be good at any time.

Anderson was initially rubbish when he come and rotted in the reserves, whereas Nani shone for a while. After a few months though this curse reversed, and Ferguson gave Anderson all of the talent.

With Giggs waning and Ronaldo leaving, Ferguson took the initiative to then make Nani play well for a few years, and we got a world class winger, whilst Anderson struggled with injury.

Now however our CM is sufficiently depleted, so Ferguson has once again bestowed Anderson with talent.

This is why neither Anderson or Nani have ever played well in a game together.

I'd say that's more down to quality competition and injuries. Think he's had just under 90 appearances in the past 2 seasons which given he has had a few knocks and we didn't even go very far in cups last season is a pretty high number.

Ok

Oh and Anderson looked good right away

Its funny but Nani and Valencia never seem to start a game together with both on the wings.

I think you'd have to be blind to think Young is even half as good as Nani really, I'm sure SAF sees it that way too.

It is quite a ... 'coincidental' time for him to not be on the team/bench, hopefully it is just a knock or something.

By the way, let's not forget Rooney and Welbeck aren't playing either, they're only on the bench, SAF is clearly not happy with the attackers from the Everton game, and Nani was the worst of the lot, so maybe he's just punishing him. Who knows.

I think this is more likely but because hes not signed a contract... its lead to this

The extent to which Nani is over-rated and Young is under-rated on the Caf annoys me. Young isn't half as good as Nani, what a load of shit.

No he didn't.

He was injured for ages, and got subbed off after a poor performance against Sunderland in the reserves. I think a lot of people were very worried about that signing.

That Sunderland game was his debut. But after that he was slowly integrated into the side and looked better each time.

He certainly never rotted in the reserves
