if no one other team than zenit came in for him this window, what would stop nani for seeing out his contract? Surely he wouldn't be frozen out for 2 years as he's our more talented wide player?

If you read posts from the first few years of his United career he was a one trick pony, and we'd made a terrible purchase.

He did looked pretty awful at times in his 1st couple of years. I hated seeing him on the team sheet.

His turnaround in form saved his career with us initially.

No it didn't.....He just needed time, and if he hadn't progressed as quickly as he did, he would have been given more time because his potential was insane. It's not like there was any chance of selling Ronaldo in those early days, frustration sure but that was it.

I thought when he was hauled off at half time at home to Spurs a couple of years ago it would have been the last time we would see him in a Utd shirt.

I was surprised and delighted that he turned it around.

No need to get shirty fella, we're all adults here.

I never stated that anything was fact, it was obvious that nani was a potential make weight in any deal for sneijder and that Rodwell would have come to united but for his injury record.

As stated previously I have no control over these matters, no more reliable sources than most other peole and no special powers I am just incredibly perceptive.

As you say i let you know nani would be leaving 12 months ago, at the time only a few others had picked up on this, i took a lot of abuse but did not waver; now, slowly, the majority are acknowledging the inevitable.

Why would he have never played again for us after being subbed off in a game into his second season here?

It was the end of the season and I felt Fergie had lost patience with him. Wasnt the only one who thought it.

If he has an attitude problem fair enough, but he has been a very good player for us.

If we sell him for £25m or even £30m we aren't going to get anybody better. Would be ludicrous to sell him.

We clearly don't know what's going on behind the scenes. I adore Nani - he truly is an exciting player. The type that can get you sitting on the edge of your seat, on his day, everytime he touches the ball. Sadly, if his attitude is under question at United - then it's usually a one-way direction towards the exit door. It's difficult for us to see a player go, but United didn't have that type of mentality then clearly our standards would be lower.

Of course, it's all rumors so far. Maybe his attitude is one of the finest at the clubs. Maybe he's Fergie's favourite player. Who knows? I'll be dissapointed if he goes, but it'll be for a good reason if he does leave.

One minor positive I'll find from him leaving is that the headache I experience prior to weekends will ease up a bit, since after signing RVP I've had no idea how we were going to fit our best players in a first eleven. With one of RVP, Rooney, Valencia, Kagawa and Nani leaving - it does make it easier.

I do emphasize on the word "minor" though.

Personally, I would be against a sale as I don't think we should sell our best players, but if we did, it would be the area of the side which would have the least impact. We are overloaded with strikers, wingers and attacking midfielders this season more than ever.

As we all know, Fergie knows better than anyone here what is or is not going on behind the scenes. I think Nani and Rooney were left out on the weekend because they had poor games against Everton. Nothing more to it. Only thing that has had me thinking someone may be on the way out is how hard we obviously pushed for Lucas as well as RVP but we will see.

This makes all kinds of not very much sense.

Come on, there must be a portuguese prostitution agency about?

Childish joke, forgive me.

Nani is just too talented to sell, it really is as simple as that. He can work wonders on the ball. We would probably end up selling him for 20 mill anyway, like we do most of our players, sell them cheap ffs. He isn't a player to be replaced either, there isn't a winger like him on the market and we will have to pay over the odds for a talent we already had but sold. Stupid, stupid move to sell him.

How much would people consider a fair price for Nani to go? It's interesting to see the contrast in opinions on his worth, the newbies have lots of posters willing only to entertain the idea if it's above £40-45 million, whereas others are happy to see him go for as little as £15 million.

£35m+ and we probably wouldn't get somebody for that money that is as good.

£15m?! Holy moly. I'll have what they're having!

Ideally in today's market, he is definetly worth £35-40m. I wouldn't be too suprised if he went for more, but I'd say that range is a reasonable one.

fecking hell - this would mean that Ashley Young would play nearly every game. Seems like a mental idea to sell Nani, we would probably let him go for 15m too.

30 million pound would probably be accepted, I personally wouldn't even piss on any less then 35.

He's at least ten times the player Andy Carroll is, so probably around the £350 million mark.

...and Hazard.

Personally I hope he stays for a long time. If his time is really up for whatever reason, then a price of £35 Million would be a deal clincher.

It would not. Fergie's already started using Kagawa and Welbeck there this season going off Everton and it's not beyond the realms of possibility that Rooney or RVP could play there. On top of Young, we are not short of options in any of the front four positions.

I'm not advocating a sale but like I said in above post, we are overloaded with quality in the front four areas this season.

If we had signed Hazard I don't think we would have pushed for Lucas but the intent has been there all summer I agree. Fergie would have gone for RVP regardless.

If we did sell Nani I don't think we would get over 30m for him. I think his contract is up 2014 and the likes of PSG, City and Chelsea seriously drive up the price of a player so recent transfers by them have to be taken in isolation. All this needs factoring into the equation, that and United always seem to sell for less than the majority of clubs aside from the Ronaldo deal. If I was going make a guess it would be somewhere in the region of 20-25m. Not necessarily what I think he is 'worth' but what my opinion on what he would be sold for if it came to it.

25m would be a fair price. This time next year we would be lucky to get even half.

But I want him to sign a new comtract assuming all is well with the player and Fergie.

Welbeck is ineffectual as a winger or wide forward. Rooney and RVP are both best through the centre. I prefer players to play in the positions that they are best at. We have Valencia, Giggs and Young who are genuine wingers, getting rid of Nani and playing the way that you are suggesting will further unbalance the team and I guarantee - lead to many a frustrating performances.

Personally I think both Kagawa and Welbeck are good enough to play from one of the wide positions, same with the others. What's more important is how Fergie uses his players and already we have seen Welbeck and Kagawa used from those areas. With Roo and RVP around, I'd get used to it, whatever your personal preferences are. For me, it's far to soon to have opinios on how effective certain players will be this season or in the future. By the way I'm not suggesting anything, I'm going off the way Fergie has set up his teams so far this season in pre-season and competitive games.

Kind of what a Man Utd forum is about though, isn't it.

In the Ronaldo era, when Rooney was banished to the wings he became a much lesser player, I'm not sure what you think that Welbeck brings to the team from the wings and RVP is hardly a total footballer; the guy is more of an out and out devastating finisher. Kagawa would be able to be effective out there but I would rather see a genuine ball playing winger like Nani any day of the week.

We'd be fecking idiots to sell Nani. Absolute fecking idiots.

The things is, we're all wondering if Nani goes and the panic(or perhaps happiness some weirdos would feel) when/if he does, without looking at the actual player's options.

If he does go, the only way is down and a step back. Real Madrid and Barcelona is not an option. And the only thing left after is a sidestep or to a lower club. People sometimes forget we're MANCHESTER UNITED.

We deal with players fairly: if they are worthy of said contract, they will be remunerated sufficiently. If they think they deserve more, or acting billy big bollocks they door is easily found. Of course there's common ground and room for negotiation and both sides make their case.

Personally, I'm a massive Nani fan and I really hope he stays, but I really hope money isn't more important than wearing red. But, as I said before, if he does leave the only way is down.

I can't be fuked trawling the last 10 pages, can I get an update please :D

Rumours are that he is on his way out. Journos tweeting that Fergie wants rid because he's not good enough.

Players Player of the year the year before last. Why on earth would we sell him. He is a match winner and we don't have enough of them currently.
