Berbatov | Fulham player

I don't understand this quips about him not getting a chance. He got every chance in the world including being picked for the majority of his first season. He never stepped up to the plate mentally to claim a first team spot hence the reason in the last couple of seasons he was in and out of the team. Sublime talent at times, but he could never consistently deliver and while Rooney still runs around when he's shit, you might as well be playing with 10 men when Berbatov was playing like crap.

Best of luck berbs x

One of the most naturally gifted footballers we've seen at Old Trafford since Cantona.

A nice bloke and on form, a joy to watch play - now spread your wings and fly Berba. Italy will love you.

Top scorer but left on the bench for the CL final?

Hernandez is a good striker but nothing like a good player. Beyond finishing he can be somewhat of a hinderance so equally like playing with 10 men.

Lets be honest for a player of his talent he wasn't given as much of a chance as he should have been but that is just an opinion, I don't know the internal workings of the club.

it's not just an opinion when you prefaced it the way you have. in fergie's opinion he was given enough time to drop to 5th on the strkers list 4th if an injury happens. and cheech is a good striker as you say , a pure striker something united don't have. we have rvp , very smooth. dropped berba another peg down. so the side is better with rvp than w/berba. sorry that's football from fergie's POV.

Actually Hernandez was our best player in Champions that year, and he has showed consistency plus he scored goals in big matches. So Chicharito deserved this place though I think that tactically fergie should have gone with a single striker.

His omission from the entire squad was strange but Berbatov never performed when he came from bench.

I don't think that Fergie didn't give him that much time. He played a lot of games in his first 3 seasons here, and I doubt that we can judge better than Fergie for his players.

Farewell Berba - it was a pleasure to support you and watch you play.
The jury may still be out on whether he was a flop or not, but I loved watching him play in our colours. There aren't many players out there with the flamboyancy and class he possesses.

I sure hope he goes on to be a star player for Fiorentina - if anyone deserves praise, it's Berba. I'll sure miss his control :(

I'm convinced Berba would have performed just as good as Hernandez that half of the season if he had gotten the chance to do so.

Hmm, I don't share that view simply because Chicharito has scored goals in more big matches that season than Berbatov in his entire career at us. Also Chicha was very consistent in that season which Berba wasn't. We can speculate as much as we do but I doubt that any of us is better than Fergie in that aspect.

I admit that when Berba is in form he is much better than Chicha. The problem is that when he isn't (which is often), he is awful.

One thing I will always remember is, most notably, his turn v West Ham a few years back along with his hattrick against the Scousers and his five-goals against Blackburn.

That Deadline Day was immense four years ago also.

As for Andy Johnson I thought I've made it clear some time ago. You want to go into details (in which games Berba scores in which he doesn't) then don't use double standards and take a look that half of Andy's goals were penalties. Ahh, and Berba had 20 I believe. What's more, I've never said that is the reason he is good enough, which you know he is if you know anything about football, but the strange thing how he was frozen out after finally delivering.

Actually you are not correct. It's true that from his 22 goals, 8 of them came from penalties. But on the other side, he won 7 from those eight penalties.

Not saying that Johnson was as good as Berbatov (he was not even near) but consistently saying that he was top scorer is not that fair if you exclude many other facts like is consistency and big matches.

Hang on, what's everyone commenting on? The press report from an unnamed source saying that he's flow to Florence for a medical or has there been some kind of corroboration?

I'll be happy for him if he goes to Florence, it seems fitting to add him to the art there.

Hope he does well at Fiorentina. He was a top player who just didn't manage to become an even better one here, he still had lots of great moments and was instrumental in the 10/11 season. Will never forget the hatrick against Liverpool and one of the best goals i've ever seen in that game.

Wow.

Not sure which of the great clubs would he have succeeded at to be honest.

At some club reminiscent to 06-08 Spurs in its tactics.

If not, I think he'd have done better at Bayern, Valencia, maybe some Italian club AND, painful to say - City.

I don't know if Juve would be the best fit for him. They create a lot of chances every game with Pirlo dictating play but they are crying out for a striker that can get on the end of chances and finish them, that's why RVP or someone like Higuin would have been perfect for them.

Regardless, I'm happy to see him go. I liked Berbatov..he was a good player but that's all he was, a good player, not a great player. He never really suited to our fast paced attack. I could see what Sir Alex was thinking, but it all went tits up when Rooney converted to a more natural number 10 as opposed to being a number 9. The other good thing is that it saves us a lot on wages, which was the main issue to begin with.

I've heard from a friend of mine who is Juve fan that if they cannot get Llorente or Jovetic, then they could go for him.

Everything seemed set for the transfer of the attacker Bulgarian Dimitar Berbatov to Fiorentina, but - according to the latest rumors collected by the editors of Tuttomercatoweb.com - the deal fell through. The player was expected to Florence for medical visits and the first workout, but in the Tuscan capital he has not showed up. The player will arrive in Turin, Juventus to a step.

In Italian clubs yes but they were not that great in last years. Bayern is a possibility while I don't think that City's game would have suited him better. Valencia is not a great club.

Thats how I feel and certainly would have done better in the final too

Juve's technical way of playing will suit Berbatov perfectly. If Prandelli would have been at Viola yet then there would have been better for him, but for now Juve is the best team he can go. I think that he woun't have such a problem to be their number 9 (Matri and Quagliarella) and he can form a good partnership with Vucinic.
