To be fair, they are surrounded by the joys of Soccernomics and Moneyball: long, impressive sounding words. Some fans have defended, with a straight face, the signings of Carroll and Downing as bargains based on some policy. Suddenly, all Liverpool fans are statisticians.
If I may rant for a second... It is so easy to take a set of data and fit a plausible-sounding theory into it. It is a lot harder to start with that theory and squeeze the real data into it (before realising you are cherry-picking).

Combined with the money they get from the scrap metal from Anfield, they're probably only looking at about $50m. They'll have basically got a brand new stadium for almost nothing.

I don't think Lucas is either as good or as bad as many here think he is. He's a decent option for them, and I think he'd nail down a starting place on this team.
With Sahin and Allen, they wont miss him.

Not what I meant. I meant on Liverpools team. But he probably would get a game for us too.
Sure, I think he's a good squad option for any team who need a limited ball winner.
However RAWK think he's an elite midfielder up there with the best and watch entire compilations of him making last ditch tackles and fouling people and proclaim how amazing he is.
As has been said before, his reputation has gone on an upward spiral since he picked up a long term injury. This latest knock should see him right up there with Messi and Ronaldo.

I spose I should edit this to say that's a joke. You're right about Lucas, he's not as bad as people here make out and he's not as good as their lot make out. When it comes down to it, he's essentially their Fletcher, only not as good.
