Berbatov | Fulham player

I would prefer him to play at a big club like Juve. He'll play in CL and might well still be a player people talk about in a bigger context. But if he prefer Fulham, so be it. Good luck again Berbs, except when you play us :D

So the Fulham transfer has been confirmed then? Wasn't expecting him to go there, but I hope he does well (just not against us) for them

nope. except the Juve's GM said he's rejected their offer for family reasons and staying in England. Hoping not Berba's final decision

Sad to see him go and i wish him all the best.

Love him or hate him, you have to agree the guy was cool.

Hope he does well for them and just has a couple of off days....against us.

As long as he goes to a good team that likes to play a technical style that suits him then I'm happy. He coud be a huge hit at Juve but my guess is he wants first team football more than anything after being down the pecking order at United.

Yes, but there is alot of revisionism going on this thread.

So many on here (not you) have vehemently criticised him during his time with us and made him feel unwelcome ... he never had our full and unquestioned support. Job done, he's now out of the club and so the a ground swell of guilt is emerging.

Berbatov is a very classy footballer. I really hope he lands in a place that will allow his gifts to shine ... the game of football will only benefit.

A statement from Fiorentina earlier read: "ACF Fiorentina announces that the acquisition of Dimitar Berbatov finally fell through after an agreement had been reached with Manchester United [exchange of contract, the first instalment of the consideration paid and surety for the second instalment already signed] and after it had reached a verbal understanding with the player on his contract.

"During today, the English club granted its affiliated written permission for the player to travel to Florence for a medical and to sign the contract. [We thought] the player had embarked, accompanied by his attorney, on a flight - tickets paid for by Fiorentina - to Florence.

"But the player never arrived in Florence....because of reckless and arrogant actions of other companies, which have nothing to do with the values of honesty, fair play and ethics of sport and that lie beyond the boundaries of loyalty.

"As for the player, despite his characteristics and his technical merit, at this point we are happy that he did not come to Fiorentina. He did not deserve our city and our shirt and the values it represents."

Wow, quite a strom brewing now on this.

Serves them all right for waiting so long ... they have had months to put a seal to this deal.

Hope Berbatov goes wherever he feels right.

Always liked to watch him play. Class player who just didn't fit us in. Will never forget the hat-trick against the Scousers and the fact that he was the top scorer when we won 19(a fact forgotten by many). Also he's a class act as shown by him last season.

I really like the idea of Berbatov in Florence, it had a real romance to it. Berb in Fulham isn't the same, but if that's what he wants, I hope he gets it. Preferably before 11:59pm on the 31st.

I wish berbs all the best but he's playing a risky game by pissing around right up to the last minute. Come to think of it, it was like this when he came to us. Either he or his agent are playing one side off against the other.

(Again it is relevant to the discussion and football related)

Having read that Fiorentina statement and seen this, you can see where the anger comes from, he no showed Juventus too!

Bad Ass Berbatov!

"When I have to make hard decisions, I always listen to little boy inside me and what he wants. That little boy was screaming for Fulham."
- Dimitar Berbatov

Which is why he signed for Man City all those years ago.

maybe he would've done if he hadn't been "persuaded" into a Security van with armed guards - he'd agreed terms with us and then fluttered his eyelashes at the feckin Berties before being reminded of his obligations or whatever.

......and I'm a bit of a Berbatov camp member

This really is one of the funniest things I've seen in recent days:lol:

He really does what he wants.

I think we should have an appreciation thread for Berbatov. Whatever happens in the next few days i think we should acknowledge that the was always committed to the club and acted professionally.

Maybe someone would say that it was a mistake to buy him at that price if we consider that his games to goals ratio wasnt the best.

I wish him well at whatever club he finally signs for, i maintain that he has loads of goals in him within the right football system.

That was a cnutish thing he did to Fiorentina. Why agree to sign for them to change your mind at the airport ? Not that it means anything but it depicts a terrible image of him (unless there is another side to the story)

That's cruel.

Dangerous game he's playing. I was sympathetic when it looked like decent offers weren't showing up, but with the options he's had, if he manages to miss the boat completely I will not be impressed.

He can do no wrong in your eyes. I dont think its professional at all

Fulham? really!

Typical Berbatov, no burning ambition to be the very best he can be. Go to fecking Juve ffs.

I would agree with this. I often said he lacked ambition

I'm his biggest fan but this 'no enough ambition' may be partly true. I think he's got that perception of football in his head and refuses to alter or commit himself.

However whenever I hear the 'to ooze quality' phrase I think of his third goal vs Blackburn: 3rd goal here. He basically strolled along the pitch, while using virtuoso stuff, then finished the move.

It depends what sort of role those teams were offering I guess. He's just spent 18 months as a squad player, maybe he doesn't want to go and do that at Juventus, maybe having experienced what it's like in that role he just wants to play regularly and that's what fulham are offering him.

Not buying that, a player should always think he's good enough, not least a player with the talent of Berbatov.

It's the mentality of a loser to expect another bench role. He's taking the easy option in my eyes, a big lack of ambition.

Juventus are offering him 1/2th of wages of what he earns here(according to reports) and Fulham will give him nearly 80k. Ofcourse it's easy to say from your living room and moaning about a player's ambition but at Berba's age it's understandable that he doesn't want to take a pay cut.

Or maybe it's as simple as Berbatov's young family being settled in England, I mean that is after all what Juve have said on the matter!

Funny how posters like Ekeke were saying a week ago that teams like PSG were never interested, that my opinion of him as a footballer wasn't shared by the big clubs. Are the Serie A champions big enough for you?

There may be an element of a lack of fighting spirit but I don't think it's just that. Like I said he know's what its like to be a squad player, he's done that, I don't think there's anything wrong with just wanting to play every week. Plus you don't know if Juventus have imitated to him that he'd be part of the squad where as Fulham will likely have said they will structure the team around him. Also not wanting to move his family may be true.
