Southampton vs. Manchester United

Rooney and co. Better get their act together. There is a new king in town. What a performance from rvp. Didn't see much of the ball but scored 3 goals. Shit penalty miss but all is forgiven after that performance.

Once again though our midfield was second best. We can't rely on an almost 40 year old. Carrick, clever and ando really need to improve. Kagawa at least showed a willingness to run with the ball and actually want it.

Maybe we played in their hands a little bit by having such a narrow attack. We were much better when we put on two wingers. Nonetheless, an undeserved win thanks to rvp. I feel for soton because they deserved something.

That's how it goes. It still doesn't address the abysmal midfield and the lack of an enforcer.

I agree. I think we'll have to start playing a 4-2-3-1 sort of formation now. If we play Cleverley and Kagawa it will not work to have just Carrick behind. Him and Anderson/Scholes would bring more support

Don't think I'm going to stop watching those last 10 minutes anytime soon.

I love you RVP.

Scholes made a huge difference. Cleverley is not ready, and it's not as if he is a boy either. He is 23.

Our defence was abominable. Vidić was weak, timid, and sluggish.

But it's a very satisfying win, even if the performance was largely poor.

We need some of this attitude in our midfield -

Robin van Persie I fecking love you!! Saved us. Absolutely saved us.

That is all

And... oh

I have to admit, RVP was far better than rooney (at least after the first 3 games, and it's not just his goals, his technique and finishing is brilliant)

The guy doesn't seem to have off days!

Still unlikely to win anything if Carrick's gonna feature a lot though.

Yep.. We've gone PG.
We need leadership on the pitch. Keane or even Neville.. We cant go soft.
We lose most 50-50s, we get pushed off the ball, we get beaten in the air.. Not good enough.

Van Persie, what a player! :D

Scholes was golden when he came on as well.

SAF changes things up to turn a game to a win for us late on once more, epitomises his management for us in his 1,000th game!

good for the first 15 mins and the last 15 - shite in between. Very sloppy.

More shots on, more shots off, more corners, more possession, less fouls so not really undeserved but Jeez, we need to sharpen up a bit.

Out of jail.

When he finally came to the touchline in the 83rd minute, I thought he had left it too late and it would be hard to shift gears and get the goals in such little time..
Fergie knows when to turn it on.. What a man.

And Rio.. He has his back problems.. doesnt get forward all the time.. But he did when it mattered.. Legend.

We were successful despite having Carrick because of players like Scholes, Ronaldo, Rooney, Vidic etc.

Still unlikely to win anything if Carrick's gonna feature a lot though.

He's played one match in central midfield, after being able to dally on the ball for ages as a CB; he did misplace 3-5 passes and got robbed 3-4 times too; he's having to readjust to his old role.

He's also played 2 brilliant central passes putting RvP through; ala Song..

We really need to clone Scholes. He is one of a kind.

Closest I think we could say we've got is Kagawa now. I say that cos Scholes is incredibly calm and sees things before most, he seems similar. Carrick, and I'm starting to think Cleverley too to some extent, is someone who will keep the ball rather than doing that and finding the holes in their defence.

Except he doesn't even come close to Scholes' technical ability.

But then again, who does.

Watching MUTV they are really getting it in the neck from Ronnie from Belfast. He's saying too many old players on there never criticize the team. He is right in a way.

Don't think i've ver crowdsurfed at a football game before.

Until today.

Get, the, feck, in.

If he have to readjust to playing in a role he's been playing all his life after 2 games in CB then God help us.

To be fair he's been slow and dally on the ball for years. No one in our midfield loses the ball as much as him whether he's over hitting it for a goal kick or passing it to the opposition. His high passing success rate are all 4 yard roll to Scholes.

Even van Persie went out of his way implying that when he praised Scholes.

Carrick was brilliant last year.
