Saturday 15th September 2012
Barclays Premier League
Old Trafford, Manchester
KO: 1500 BST

Not happy with Wigan. Completely uncalled for what they did to us in April. Hopefully Sir Alex has had a word with DW and all will be back to normal for this.

Team should be...

GK: DDG

RB: Rafael
CB: Vidic
CB: Ferdinand
LB: Evra

RM: Valencia
CM: Carrick
CM: Scholes
LM: Young

CF: Rooney
CF: RVP

Subs: Lindegaard, Evans, Jones, Anderson, Nani, Kagawa, Hernandez

I reckon Rooney and Young will be fit by the 15th

-------------De Gea-----------
Rafael---Rio------Vidic------Evra
--------Carrick----Scholes-------
Valencia---Kagawa--------Nani----
----------------RVP------------

Agreed, drop Welbeck and replace him with Nani. Also, try to get De Gea's confidence up AND running.

Lineup will depend on how everyone comes back from international duty. I assume Valencia, Hernandez and Kagawa would be doing a lot of travelling. Fingers crossed Van Persie comes back fine.

4-4-2 with 2 up top and a winger.
Might mean dropping Kagawa which would suck.. but its better than having an unbalanced side.

----------------------------Van Persie---------------------------

This would do me. Would be good to give buttner a game, and evra something to think about. Also that midfield feeding Van Persie could be brilliant

I would like if Fergie drops Evra for this match and tell him that he can be dropped if he doesn't perform. De Gea and Nani are a must. I would also like to see more from Chicharito and to see Ando starting the game which I think he deserved after the game against Fulham.

My team would be:

De Gea

Rafael Vidic Rio Buttner

Valencia Ando Carrick Nani

Kagawa

RVP

Chicharito and Cleverley coming from the bench.

Yay, another match of:

from our players!

Seriously though, clean sheet would be nice for a change here.

First game I'll be going to this season. I never thought I'd look forward to going to a home game again but cos I haven't seen everyone for a while it'll be great :D

International players will play a big role in team selection I guess. So, there might not be a place for Valencia, Kagawa and Chicharito, and some european players might be rested as well.

Powell to come off the bench on 75th min. Evans as well.

The Way Fergie talked about Hernandez yesterday I wouldnt be surprised if he starts on Saturday.

I would like us to be able to play a solid back four for a few league games in a row -- the time for slight tampering should be when we're actually in great form and a minor change probably won't unsettle things (Evans in for someone, Buttner over Evra etc).

Ferdinand and Scholes won't play an international, Scholes was great when he came on at Southampton so he should start after a rest for sure. Evans could come in over Vidic but I'd just play Rio and Nemanja with the rest of the first-choice.

Obviously, my main gripe will be if we for some reason decide to play Welbeck on the left. Fergie may want to go 442 at Old Trafford against Wigan, but that has to mean you play Kagawa wide left or you don't start him. Either way, it has to mean Welbeck up front or on the bench.

I haven't checked all the internationals yet, which could have an impact on how we line up as well. But, I'd still like to see the above line up as I believe it will be the most fluid and balanced team we can play.

This has to be our best lineup atm.

Tough game. Our defense will need to stand strong and hopefully our midfield won't get overrun.

RVP should have fun though.

I'm hoping the players remember their performance in the match that essentially lost us the title 6 months ago. And fix it.

Wigan have started well this season.

Since when is Wigan at home a tough game? i mean sure we have not had a brilliant start, but if Wigan at home is now a tough game, we should be worried.

Yeah. I know this is football and anything can happen but this should be piss easy and give our GD a nice boost.

We haven't played a single game this season or in the preseason that convinces me we can / should take a team like Wigan lightly.

So yeah...it's a tough game.

I expect them to score because we look very soft up the middle.

I am expecting us to function a bit better as a unit in this one. A home game, another game under the belts of Vida, Rio and RVP to get back to thier best(RVP not needed so much!!)

We will also hopefully start using Kagawa a wee bit better, especially if Scholsey starts. If he pings some fast balls forward to Kags we could end up opening them up quite easily, especially if the back 3 are as bad as they were against Chelsea, Kagawa will pick holes in that all game and RVP will end up having a field day.

DDG back in goal. Same back 4 as on Sunday past. Carrick and Scholsey in front of that. Front 4 of Valencia, Kags,Nani and RVP.

I'm now more convinced that my earlier lineup will start. Well, if Fergie's playing it safe, he might well start with Evra and Carrick and Buttner and Anderson will come on later. I see Kagawa, Valencia and Chicharito to start against Gala and maybe the former two to start again against Liverpool. Knowing Fergie, he will plan who plays in the next few games according to freshness first and foremost, then form, then how well they played against the oppositions in previous meetings. So:

.....................DDG......................
Rafael........Rio......Vidic........Evra
..........Scholes......Carrick...........
........Nani...Cleverley...Giggs.......

Surely can't leave RVP out with his form

I'm not sure if he and Hernandez will work together - both effectively target men playing against the last defender

I know Scholes saved our bacon against Southampton but we need to be giving games to Cleverley and Anderson or they simply won't get any better.

Surely a home tie against Wigan is an opportunity to do just that?

Agreed.
