Film The Movies I want to see thread

It's Spielberg! I don't think iconoclasm is on the menu.

Watching that trailer makes me wish someone else could have directed that film while maintaining DDL as the star. Someone that's going to present a complex vision of Lincoln, someone who is not going to rehash the idealized Lincoln

With all the literature out there to work with, it could be such an interesting movie. It wouldn't be as popular as Speilberg's is going to be, but it would be far more thought provoking.

But, maybe the film is actually like that, and the trailer is just to get a certain audience into the theater that wouldn't go if the movie was about a morally ambiguous and complex portrait Lincoln

There's talk going around that this is exactly the case. If anything, the overcooked trailer seems to confirm it.

I really hope so, but its just Spielberg's involvement in the project that makes me doubt its the case. Maybe I'm bias, but I just see Spielberg as a man that wouldn't take that kind of risk with such an important and iconic figure in American history

Watched the trailer, it's dreadful.

Agree with Wittmann, I find hard to believe Spielberg is actually gonna do anything audacious with this film, but who knows. If it's crap, it'll be a waste of a very good set of actors as well, which will be frustrating.

Still think it lacks vampires and zombies and people throwing horses at one another.

Posted in the film review thread, just fecking watch it, alright?

Saw this earlier in the year and Colin is right, just watch it, it's fantastic. Available on Noobroom.

It was released in 2011, available in all the wrong places if you so desire including one I put in my last post.

Ohh sorry wrong film gambs. I was thinking about Gus Van San's Promise Land starring Matt Damon and John Krasinski. Apologies. Long day of painting. Anyway Ill give this a watch.

Is that the French film with François Cluzet and Omar Sy? (the video is blocked)

Broke all box office records over here in France if it's indeed that one.

Yeah was a good film, funny but also very moving. I remember seeing it last year at the pictures on the day it came out, and telling my girlfriend I was sure it would do really well at the box office. Had no idea it would be that much of a sensation (about 20 million people went to see it).

Was in Paris with my dad on the day it came out, and we decided to go to the movies to watch a movie called Immortals. We ended up buying tickets by mistake for Intouchables - thinking the name was the french translation for 'Immortals'.

Great mistake. :D

They're making a film of Need for Speed. seriously

I like the Iron Man films, kind of Batman without the angst.

Redband for the Evil Dead Remake I actually like the look of it. DERRRRRDUNDUNDUN!

Short film time! The German (yes I've just watched Monday's edition of film riot)
