Manchester United vs. Wigan Athletic

We started well enough but we randomly just stopped playing quickly and it's become like many games were last season, except we don't have any goals get. Bring on Valencia and RVP for giggs and Hernandez and we'll be set I think.

valencia and kagawa for me, Welbeck looks lively and we are missing the no 10 right in the middle to spread the ball around. Welbeck has just been unlucky while hernandez has gone missing.

I get we have a CL game in midweek and Liverpool next weekend, but our rotation policy seems to backfire frequently when we decide to leave out what's essentially our entire attack and then deciding to throw them on the pitch when we need goals for the last 30 mins.

The performance totally belies of that of a team with 6-7 players being introduced who haven't played a lot of competitive minutes this season, really think some of you are just victims of your own expectations. People look at Wigan and just think they'll get steam rollered but they've made strides in the last 6 months with their new shape. We have enough to get the victory.

I think the Wigan defence have decided to just physically overpower Hernandez and this, along with not having a partner to work off, has meant that his movement is a lot easier to defend.

At first glance he's not a good pick to be a lone striker. But Rooney was poor in that role at first and Tevez was poor in that role for us, but having learnt from it he was brilliant at it right away when he went to City. So it may be worth playing him there so he can improve just like they have.

On the other side both Rooney and Tevez were converted there at a more mature time in their careers and with much more refined build up and retaining of the ball. So I might be a bit hopeful comparing him to them as he's a different type of player.

Because its already overused and will be applied to any average to subpar performance and what the feck does it really mean anyway?

You have to be really stupid not to be able to figure out what it means despite it being pretty evident from the term itself and the little fact that there exists a thread with hundreds of posts about it.

Surprised people are having a go at Giggs. Well, not at all surprised, but you're wrong anyway. He's misplaced a few but he's created at least three chances out of nothing with clever first-time balls. That's worth a few that don't come off. But it's pearls before swine...

I wasn't having a go. I just think we need more balance and it's a bit counter-productive to injecting pace and urgency to play him alongside Scholes and Carrick. I'd rather sub him than the latter two.

Looks sharp to me and has been good on the ball, keeps drifting inside though, which is understandable at his age.

Our games against Liverpool, Newcastle, Chelsea and Arsenal aren't going to be pretty.

I don't understand why there is not more rhythm from the players. The tempo is way too slow, it's been a recurrent big problem.Lethargic performance, United have become so boring to watch in terms of playing style

I think it's because there doesn't seem to be a clear attacking tactic. We're not playing a wide game as there's no left winger to speak off so we're not getting much delivery out wide but there's little movement in behind Wigan to facilitate a good central approach where we use intelligence/good passing. It's something we see quite a lot when we set up in this sort of way. There are some good pieces there but I think Fergie made 1 too many changes in Giggs and the balance of the team is off. Not a terrible performance or anything, just decent. We look like we can break Wigan down though, think a kagawa or Valencia just to balance the team would make the difference.

10 shots. 1 on target.

Also have a feeling Buttner will get sent off.

Next 6 games are Liverpool, Spurs, Newcastle, Stoke, Chelsea & Arsenal :nervous:

Never mind - Ando's posted some lovely quiche pix on Instagram.

Don't think this team represents how we'll line up against them. The introduction of the likes of Valencia, Rooney, RVP, Kagawa would lead to a very different team.

 It could be called many things, In any exposure I have had of zombies be it in games, movies or telly I never once saw a brain eating cnut try to pass the ball. My argument is you could attach any buzz word in front of passing and make a thread out of it and the fact is we have different types of passers within the squad for example Ando and Cleverly who can pass it short and fast. Wait lemme guess they would come under 28 days later fast zombies and not night of the living dead limb dragging slow feckers.

1 shot on target - that was the penalty.

Says it all really...

Disappointing from us tbh.

Still not switched gears since the start of the season.

Buttner is a positive though. Looks a good player.

Dare i say it, one positive is that we've kept a clean sheet thus far..
