Liverpool vs. Manchester United

I'm going to be so fecking tired for this one. Up all night working at home and then I have to go to work right after the game. The wife will never understand...and if (god forbid) we get to lose, I'll be a mess all week

Can't see this ending well...Biggest game of the year for them.

I was concerned when I saw the Liverpool team last night, their whole first team was given the night off, whilst ours labored to a 1-0 win in mid week. Add to that the usual game raising that they do when they play us and the emotion surrounding the 96, and I can't see us taking anything from the game.

We'll probably turn in our usual non-performance at Anfield. Same story every season; it always turns out to be one of our worst performances of the season.

Hope I'm mistaken.

25 October 2009 Anfield 2–0
6 March 2011 Anfield 3–1

We havent won there since 2007. Thats a long time really, but before that we had 6 years unbeaten there, winning 5.
I would not give a damn if we are terrible and win 1-0 again!

Everyone bitched about our performance there last season. Fergie clearly feared for us as we had lost 3 in a row. So it was no surprise how we set up.

I reckon he was happy with the point. But this Sunday I really feel a win is vital

Really, why?

I hope that we play three in midfield and RVP up top on his own. I really don't think that we should play Hernandez and Giggs from the off, we really don't need to be playing hollywood balls and trying to spring the offside trap against a possession football side.

On one hand, I think it's our best chance in ages of getting a win there.

But I still won't be surprised if they do get the win. It's their cup final, plus the added incentive of the Hillsborough report. They'll be well up for this.

I just hope we are too.

We will lose. Honestly i cannot see any other result given our form, tactics, personnel and the fixture being their first game after JF96 thing and their cup final. And on top of that we will be playing the in coursed white kit.

That's about the only positive I can see - no Gingham :wenger:

But otherwise yes I have no positive expectations. I expect Suarez and Evra will go through the charade before the match before spending 90 mins getting at each other; Stevie G to score and the commentators to orgasm, and maybe even a red card for us (Vidic again?) to screw us further.

Actually thinking about all that takes the tension out of the fixture - no expectation of anything but the worst

Ah, but the black shorts that go with the white shirt is gingham.

There will be no escape.

Lets face it Liverpool are shite, why we constantly insist on going there paying them the respect we do is beyond belief. If we attack them and play our stuff we should piss it.

Any type of win for us is fine by me.

Rafael-----Rio-----Vidic---Buttner
-------Carrick----Cleverley-------
Valencia-----Kagawa---------Nani
---------------RVP---------------

Subs: Lindegaard, Evans, Fletcher, Scholes, Giggs, Welbeck, Hernandez.

This for me. Big test for Buttner though, need Nani to stay disciplined.

This is so true. We constantly go there, and seem a bit passive and cautious. We should turn up, get stuck in, pressurise and attack. Look at their squad, and then look at ours. We really should win it comfortably.

But we won't.

We can't play Scholes in a game like this, not starting anyway. He won't be up to the pace of the game. He'll be a great player to come off the bench and change the game.

On a positive, there's very few in here, Liverpool don't have a midfield, in my opinion, that can battle and hassle like in previous years. Allen is hardly bastard hard to play against. Sahin too. Decent footballers, not battlers.

Why wouldn't we be?

Because in recent seasons, we've went there and played it seemingly like it's just another game.

It's not just another game, it's Liverpool FFS. They may be a joke these days but those feckers can still turn it on when it pleases them. And they always turn it on most against Manchester United.

"I can take the despair. It's the hope I can't stand."

I am really confident that we can win. I will be gutted if we lose. Last year was the opposite. I was sure we would lose and was happy with the draw.

same here. as bad as it sounds I'm undecided whether to watch this game or not. My pal's daughter will be baptized on Sun, with the mass taking place around the KO time and I'm tempted to attend ceremony rather than watch getting spanked at Anfield.

Reina, Kelly, Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, Sahin, Allen, Gerrard, Borini, Suarez, Sterling.

I expect to see something like that, haven't a clue if any of them are injured or suspended.
That starting eleven doesn't strike fear into me.

I'm surprised how many people are putting Welbeck on the left instead of Nani.

I really like Welbeck & he will be a great striker for United, but I thought we'd already agreed that he's not at his best on the left & certainly no where near as good as Nani out there.

The first half against the feckwits in the FA-cup last year was the way we should play. Before that I can´t remember us being anywhere near good there. And what is even more disappointing is the fact that their players always look more up for it. Please go there and play your hearts out for the shirt you´re wearing ffs. Bring Robbo and Norm back:D

20 or more years of relentless success has left us with a set of fans who are only happy when being miserable pessimistic fecktards.

Was watching that game in bold yesterday. The save from Barthez at the end.

Can't pick this one. You's think Scholes won't play as he's played our last 2. Also, I'm not sure it'd be the right kind of game to play him in.

Have a feeling Anderson and Giggs will start.

Would go for the same team as in midweek with clev or ando in for scholes. I can't see scholes playing 3 in a row and knowing Liverpool they'll play with a high tempo coming off an average start to the season. This will be tough as you know they'll be fired up as this is their big game. Get clev in next to carrick to give us more buzz in the middle. I wouldn't go for giggs as I think we're gonna need to do a lot of work in the middle and i'm not sure if giggs has the energy for that.

No Cleverley AND no Scholes, while neither of them are injured? Highly unlikely in my opinion.

Can see Scholes starting on the bench given he played over 70 mins on Wednesday night. Plus it's the sort of game where he can lose his temper if things are going against us, as past encounters show.

Liverpool simply don't have ant teeth/firepower this year. And I don't think 'the atmosphere' will bother our players one bit.

We will win 1-3. RVP and Nani scoring.
