Serbia vs England U21 - The Incident

As embarrassing as this is for the Serbian fa, it's not exactly surprising. Racism goes on all the time in the leagues in those Balkan countries, just some countries like Serbia tend to give it out a lot more and it becomes a problem more often. Makes it more common in those countries too because you rarely see any black people in those countries, so when an opposing team has a player who is black they become an easy target. Just disgraceful really.

Can't believe some people are trying to slightly justify the behavior of the Serbian players and fans, saying England players provoked it. It's like some people never watch or even play the game. If the fans start giving you abuse in a game, and you score a goal, obviously you're going to want to give some back. It's not "provoking the fans" in any way. Theyre just celebrating with their team pretty much. The serbians lost the game so they end up resorting to being racists to the players for basically no reason. Hopefully they get a nice big fine and they get banned. Countries like Serbia aren't exactly rich and can afford these little bans all the time, they actually take their toll on the fa.

I don't see what conclusions can be drawn from that video, all I see is some people arguing and pushing each other. Maybe there's some other video footage that I haven't seen, but from the videos of the immediate aftermath of the game there's nothing particularly extraordinary bar Rose's apparent allegation of racial abuse. We saw a worse brawl than that between Valencia and Inter a few years ago and neither of those clubs were thrown out of Europe.
 
They need to be banned from international competitions immediately. They've had their warning in the past. Time for the authorities to show they're actually willing to make the hard decisions to rid the game of racism, rather than continue to pay lip service to it.

As for the rest, the black players were provoked massively. So if you do that then don't be surprised when they don't smile and thank you for your kind words. They did well to restrain themselves to the extent they did.

Would these same Serbs who engaged in the abuse boo Vidic for the success he achieves alongside those of other races, or take pride in such?

Football should be a unifying force, if FAs are not willing to em race and protect this fairly simple ideal then they know what they can do.

People aren't expecting societal changes overnight, but you do your damnedest for the event and those things which surround it.

Actually vuc, you're right. Celebrating a goal and cupping an ear or kissing your shirt, or showing the score after suffering 90 minutes of abuse gives the opposition players the right to start a massive fight and start slapping you. It also entitles monkey chanting crowd members to run on the pitch and start trying to fight you too.

the choice for FIFA is clear: send a message to help kick racism out, or fine players for wearing other sponsors gear...

Not defending the Serbs at all and certainly not making any excuses - but racism in Eastern Europe and Asia really is shocking. This isn't confined to Serbs or Serbia.

Asian nations like those in the subcontinent and places like the far east...the attitude towards black people is :( Sure the odd celebrity is loved, but your average black guy...yeah, not good.

People should condemn and getting defensive about it doesn't help, but people all need to be patient - give it another 25-30 years and things will turnaround drastically.

With regards to what happened on the stands, that is clear as day that it shouldn't have happened and we will get a fine/ban/punishment for that. That's clear.

With regards to all the trouble on the pitch. You can't just tell me that the players are going to kick off like that because of nothing.

Cause > Effect.

Or feck it, we should just be expelled, all of the players should be arrested and kicked out of sport all together...

Well Blair was at the game and said they weren't. All I have heard is there was a bit of celebrating going on...almost as if they had scored a goal and won a game..

He dared to celebrate, and give a little out to the fans. Just as we see every week without the opposition players and fans going fecking bananas. Missiles were being thrown as soon as England started to celebrate the goal.

Not having a go at you, but are you surprised Rose did provoke the crowd? The whole lot of racist bastards had been having a go all game and yet the Serbian F.A. seem completely oblivious to the matter. Either that or they are trying there best to avoid an international ban by denying it and hoping that helps them in some way.
