Serbia vs England U21 - The Incident

Its an interesting one isnt it?

FA and Serbian FA will get fined for the fighting at the end. But English FA wouldnt have got a fine if the England u21 players just walked off and didnt retalliate to punches / slaps etc being thrown.

The racism needs to be stamped out. The first offence should be games behind closed doors but given its not the first times its happened, it should most defo result in a ban. But how long should the ban be? A whole tournament?

Interesting because the FA had two cases of racism (or racially abusive language) in their own game last season and by their guidelines a ban of 4 and 8 matches were given. And these bans were less than somebody who kicked / kneed a player whilst he was walking off.

Don't expect the guy with the username of a Serbian player who called Vieira a nigger to agree with your viewpoint.

Apparently anyone who suggests Serbia, a national team with history of violence and racism, should be banned until they get with the times and recognise Black player's rights to play without being subjected to racist abuse, are blatantly nazis and are like those who want to bomb civilians.

But it's ok if you say that sarcastically. It's not ok to say Serbia need to be banned to learn an actual lesson, because they clearly aren't up to date with racist issues.

Or something like that.

Stop making shit up you twat, Vieira called him a "gypsy piece of shit" and Mihajlovic responded with "You black piece of shit". Both of them acted like twats.

An here we go, being a Serb + using Mihajlovic as my username, by definition then i must be racist, right? You fascist cnut.

Stop acting the fool.

You started this by saying:

Why is the Serbian FA statement pathetic? Which part exactly? Did you read the entire statement at all?

To which I replied....

Are you joking me?

During each and every minute of the match, until the mentioned last one, sports atmosphere full of respecting fair-play spirit was at the pitch and the stands

FA of Serbia absolutely refuses and denies that there were any occurrences of racism before and during the match at the stadium in Kruševac

If you can't see what's pathetic about those statements you really need to give your head a bloody wobble.

Why is the Serbian FA statement pathetic? Which part exactly? Did you read the entire statement at all?

The part that denies there was any racial abuse during the game - the biggest issue I see in several Eastern European countries is that the authorities prefer to deny that there is a problem rather than deal with it

We are talking events at a football match here. A football match. Football.

Grow up.
He's Serbian....

Dinamo Zagreb v Red Star Belgrade

when your football team is such a part of national identity/pride its a bit flippant to just say grow up.

Still...theyre obviously going to be a bit blinkered in their denials.

No, his comment was flippant and totally unnecessary, that's what I reacted to. It matters not one jot where he's from.

Still...theyre obviously going to be a bit blinkered in their denials.

True. But no doubt you are facist for calling him blinkered...

Un-fecking-real. Giving UEFA more reason to ban them every day.

I can't believe that the Serbian FA have done that. Liars gonna lie.

I can't believe that the Serbian FA have done that. Liars gonna lie.

So either someone's gone through the footage and edited out the bits with monkey chanting in, or they've actually re-dubbed the sound track.

And presumably they're saying all the other footage has it edited in.

Like this one.

Classy comments and all.

Come on people. Grow a pair of eyes.

Coincidentally, the Serbia Prime Minister tjhis evening called for an investigation into the racist abuse at the game.

Or at least that's what i heard on the radio. So somebody's left looking decidedly foolish whichever way you look at it.

Why isn't this thread on 20 pages by now? It's an absolutely ridiculous situation. The FA of a country - a country with a prominent footballing standing, who's luminaries include OUR captain - are putting out propaganda aimed at discrediting a single player whose claims are backed by video footage & eye witness accounts!

It amounts to Comical Ali levels of absurdity.

Tell me about it. The whole situation is utterly disgraceful.

I genuinely can't believe it. I think the FA here in Ireland are an incompetant shower of bastards, but they're small potatoes compared to this.

what happened to all our resident Serbs? they seem to have gone a bit quiet about all this now - would be interested to hear what they think about it.

Especially the lad who was at the game - do you also deny that there were any monkey chants?

Its sheer blind panic.

They've totally lost the plot because they probably believe they could be chucked out of wolrd cup qualifying for this, after the warning they got last time.

Desperation and an organisation not big on professionalism mix together and this is the result.

Personally, I think they just fecked themselves big time, no professional body should be releasing youtube videos like that in the first place, to put one out so obviously doctored is just laughable.

That video by itself is a major punishable offence, never mind all the rest.

Weirdly it's more the title of it that strikes me as amateur (though obviously, the whole intent, content & blatant revisionism) I can't believe a footballing body would aim something so deliberately at an opponent with the aim of discrediting them, under the title "Danny Rose is lying"...I mean what!? It's the kind of thing a conspiracy theorist fan would post....Or the Liverpool PR department.

I'm still not 100% sold it IS from the Serbian FA.

I haven't been so mind-fecked since I read a Liverpool fans's defence of Jen Chang on the grounds that 'Duncan Jenkins' isn't real...so Chang couldn't have threatened a fictional character.

Liverpool fans, Chelsea fans, Serbia fans... what is it with fans and tribalism? It's as if their(our) players and clubs can't do any wrong. I still cringe at Kenny's Save Suarez t-shirts. That said, our FA only slapped Terry with a four match ban...we're not exactly showing the world how to do it, well...we are...when it's not involving one of our own star players. Disgusting stuff though, those scenes should have no place in the modern game.

In a related matter Lazio were fined 70,000 Euros for racist offences surrounding the Tottenham match a few weeks ago.

Should we expect this to offer hints at what may be decided upon for Serbia?

If Uefa doesn't hand down a heavy enough punishment what do people think of unilateral action by the FA, this boycott they hinted at in Horne's statement? Maybe ask other nations to sign up to it even.

The FA could pas the buck on the punishment with it being determined by the independent commission, however the guidelines are determined by them right? The Suarez and Tevez cases exposed the need for them to be both tougher and easier to apply. They'll need to be prepared for other forms of discrimination too, sooner or later we'll have footballers known to be gay and they'll be victims of abuse at some point unfortunately.

try this on for size. Hayward's open letter to Platini. outlines the history with these Serbs to a tee. diabolical both on their part, as well as UEFAs part for not handling it appropriately.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/england/9616504/After-hateful-scenes-at-England-U21s-Serbia-clash-enough-is-enough-an-open-letter-to-Uefa-president-Michel-Platini.html
In 2007, England Under-21s were racially abused in a game against Serbia. You fined the Serbian FA £16,500. Here are some of the other risible penalties you have meted out for similar offences: Slovakia (2002), £18,000; Macedonia (2003), £16,500. Croatia (2008) £10,000. Bulgaria (2011) £34,230.

There is no need to go on, except to remind you that Denmark’s Nicklas Bendtner was fined £80,000 for pulling down his shorts to reveal a bookmaker advert at Euro 2012. And Manchester City were hit for £24,740 for delaying the start of a Europa League second-half.

In a related matter Lazio were fined 70,000 Euros for racist offences surrounding the Tottenham match a few weeks ago.

It's a bit laughable really, compared to other cases. When Denmark played Sweden in our ground and that SINGLE idiot tried to attack the referee, the referee called the game off and UEFA later decided Denmark was to lose the game 3-0. The following games had to be played in a different stadium some distance from Copenhagen where the incident took place - this was after the appeal. Before the appeal a couple of matches was to be play without a crowd as well, but they decided to drop that.

I understand that protecting the referee is incredibly important and just looking at the punishment without comparing it to others I have no problem with it whatsoever. However, when you compare it to other cases where there's been racist chants from rather large parts of the fans it's absolutely disgraceful that clubs/national teams get off so easily. ONE drunken idiot trying (and failing) to assault the ref is apparently a lot worse than several hundred fans doing monkey chants and what not. I genuinely don't understand the logic behind it.

As already stated previously it's painfully clear by now that fines won't make a difference. It's time to start hitting the fans where it hurts. If large parts of the crowd are clearly doing some sort of racist chanting call the game off and let their team lose the game. With all the cameras and whatnot we have on a game today it would be easy to figure out whether it's coming from the home or the away supporters. If it keeps happening, play some games in an empty stadium and lastly throw them out of whatever tournament is currently going on. Is it harsh? Sure is and something more lenient could probably work as well, but it's clear that some more severe punishments are needed to get rid of racism. Campaigns have been going on for many many years now and UEFA have handed out several fines but racist chants are still happening way too often.

Well then that is stunningly amateur. Even Liverpool's shambolic defence of Suarez didn't extend to posting the slow motion "evra removed his hand" videos on their own website. Let alone creating them!

There are some good Serb posters on this board fwiw, and hopefully this thread won't head down the path of "well, it's what they're like". Remember, our captain is Serbian, and our (or my) twatish element were throwing chairs in Lansdowne Road & Marseille not too long ago.

Thankfully we cracked down on that ourselves. But if their FA's official line has reached Iraqi Information Ministry territory, then something does probably have to be done externally, because something's endemically wrong somewhere for them to even think they can get away with that.

There's a closed doors probation hanging over them from the Italy incident. It'll be interesting what happens with that.

I feel football hasn't quite got the hang of modern media yet.

Although that's probably representative of the general population...

I can't believe they have actually done that......

We are through the looking glass here people, feck me.
