Pepe Reina Howler Watch

Nah he's on the bench. It's a much needed kick up the arse to be honest.

At points this season i cannot tell whether Rodgers is brave/confident/stupid. Maybe a combination of all 3. I know Reina has made blunders but he can still save games just as he can lose them. I wouldn't put Jones as someone that can save games.

Apparently Reina hasn't taken part in the goalkeeper warm up so looks like he isn't fit enough to start. Could be interesting if Jones gets injured at some point and Reina has to come on.

I can't remember the last time Reina saved a game to be honest. Jones just last week stopped a 1v1 which could have made it 1-1. Good performance in last year's semi too.

He's not fit enough to warm up, but fit enough to come on as sub?
WTF?

Yeah, I don't get it either. Apparently Liverpool's third choice keeper is injured as well and Tyrell Belford who plays for the reserves was warming up with Jones so that could explain it that Rodgers prefers having a half fit Reina on the bench than the fourth choice. He's taking a gamble that nothing will happen to Jones today.

He hasn't saved a game for quite a while, and it's no exaggeration to say that he's made howlers in more games this season than not. Jones is not a strong option, but until Reina gets his act together I'd say he's the lesser of two evils.

Forgot about Doni. He seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth. Just read on a Liverpool blog that he's been given compassionate leave to return to Brazil. He didn't go on the preseason tour and I don't think he's been on the bench in any games, yet he's been registered in the Premier League squad.

Was fairly questionable for both Villa goals in the first half today

Was thinking that myself. great build up play from villa for the second goal but the shot was very central. He should have done better.

He peaked that time he forced a Barca shirt on Fabregas.

Definitely should've done better on the first. On the second one though it isn't clear cut.

Thought he could have stopped two today. Beginning to think we should bring someone in.

Is a good keeper but seems needs to move out of Liverpool.

Not looking solid at all.

Benteke's strike not getting enough credit. It was hit with too much power Reina couldn't get there. Second was basically on a plate. Pick an area to finish thats not at him and it's a goal.

While it were possible to save both strikes, I don't think it's fair to have them down as mistakes. The first one was a really well taken goal, and the second one was from very close range.

Having said that, he's been shit this season.

Walcott's goal a howler? I don't really think so. Reminded me of the Benteke strike I described above. Wrong footed and hit with too much power.

I have to admit that he's lost a lot of juice when moving aerially. On the dive or the stretch and even on the wrong foot he looks a touch slower than he should do when attempting to make a save. He was beaten whilst plonked down on his near post against Villa and it has happened a few times of late.

Didn't think the Walcott one was a howler and in fairness I'm not sure any other keeper would have done better, it was unexpected and hit very strongly. The Giroud one I thought he maybe could've gotten down a bit quicker, but very few keepers would have kept that one out and it's in no way a howler either.

cnut.

No mention from the commentators about this monumental feck up, apparently it was all about the goal. Great finish but what was the fecker Reina doing?
