Manchester United vs. Arsenal

What I want to see:

Bench: Lindegaard, Buttner, Scholes, Powell, Valencia, Nani, Welbeck.
Yup, desperate to see this. Wouldn't mind if Fergie swapped Hernandez out for Valencia (turning Tony, Rooney and RVP into a front three with Rooney potentially dropping wide left sometimes). But that three in midfield is crucial. That is what would win us this game, and a two-man (especially if it's Scholes and Carrick) will lose it.

I reckon team will be:

RVP
Young - Rooney - Valencia
Cleverley - Carrick
Evra - Evans - Rio - Rafael
De Gea

So many people leaving out Young. The fact he started against Chelsea and played alright, he will keep his place for this one.

I too am intrigued by the potential Ando-Carrick-Clev combo, but I just can't see us switching to a diamond or anything. We stuck with 4411 at Stamford Bridge and won (SAF even noted that it paid off after the game) - so I can't see us switching formation for this one.

You might be right about Young, but then again, as much as I'd love the Ando-Carrick-Clev combo myself I just can't see SAF starting anyone but Scholes alongside Carrick, this I'm sure of.
In any case it's safe to say the line-up won't be like the one I'm dying to see.

There's something to be said for using the front 6 that destroyed Arsenal last season.

Anderson
Tom Cleverley
Nani
Ashley Young
Wayne Rooney
Danny Welbeck

If you took out Welbeck and put in Persie I think you'd have a damned exciting team.

We're facing a much better Arsenal team this year, I would not trust that defensively at all. We need Carrick.

Well I agree. But they always asked trad Arse fans what they'd wanted as an away shirt and they found out that when they produced the old-school style they just didn't sell. That truly vile blue jobby from last season did OK.

We also played in a yellow and blue kit back in the early seventies. Being a dumb teenager, I bought a scarf in those colours and nearly got battered in the Stretford End by one bloke who thought I was a Leeds fan,

The team I would like to see:

Rooney - Van Persie - Valencia
Cleverley - Anderson
Carrick
Evra - Evans - Rio - Rafael
De Gea

Subs: Lindegaard, M. Keane, Scholes, Fletcher, Young, Welbeck, Chicharito

Sexy, although I can see Young in there somewhere, maybe for Anderson

I think the guardian team is pretty damn close, I cant see us changing it especially after Chelsea and especially with Santos as left back, Valencia must be licking his lips for a go at him..... there we go I have jinxed it!

I'd hope that Fergie will swap Young for Anderson (to make it 433). Young was fine against Chelsea but nothing special. Ando surely earned a start with his performance.

I really do hope we go with three in the middle (preferably Anderson, Carrick, and Cleverley) and three forward players (one of whom should still probably be Valencia).

aah, the Alan Gowling years......de-derr-de-de- derr-de Alan Gowling. Always picture him in that shirt with blue collars and blue V-neck. He had a degree in Economics, y'know :smirk:

I was once stupid enough to go to a Maine Rd derby in the Kippax (half red/half blue) with my new sky blue Adidas sweat top. wtf? Got cornered in the bogs by some reds at HT and managed to hold them at bay with my 1" enamel '68 EC Winners badge shouting "feck off, I'm a fookin Red, me"

I do hope Anderson plays!

Up very early tomorrow to make this.. Buzzing.

Ando deserves to start, hopefully Young doesn't.

It'd be better for Arsenal to have Walcott on the wing and Ramsey playing in the middle. Not sure if Wilshere is ready to start such a big game yet

Yes, Anderson deserves, but he can't play two games in three days, because his fitness is fecking shit.

You should understand this before you see the official line-up... without Anderson.

How Nani has fallen, can't believe that he's such a game changer imagine him against Evra!

DDG

Rafael
Rio
Evans
Evra

Carrick
Cleverley
Scholes

Valencia
Rooney
RvP

I think Nani could have a big impact from the bench but Arsenal (Santos I assume?) won't be able to cope with Valencia's pace and Rafael overlapping.

Can't wait for this now. The only good thing about early kickoff is you don't have to wait the whole weekend to watch United.

Can't watch the game because I have a block seminar at my university from 10:30 am to 5 pm.

Soooo annoying.

Why the feck does the City game have to be in the evening and not ours?

Damn you FA, damn you.

I like the unpredictability of the line up, both in personnel and tactics. Would really like to see Ando push on (wouldn't we all?) and fergie saying he needs more games, now that he's clear of injuries, bodes well. Fingers crossed. Not overly confident about this one but future options looking good.

I'm with you. Think it feels the same as when they turned us over 0-1 in 2006. Late Adebayor goal.

Same here, strangely enough. Especially if we go 2 in CM with Carrick and Scholes.

But play 3 CMs (Carrick, Anderson, Cleverley), Rooney, RVP and another and I'll be fairly confident.
