Saturday 17th November 2012
Barclays Premier League
Carrow Road
KO: 1730 GMT

Norwich are starting at 17.30, anyone know what time we're turning up next week?

Think i'll get in for 18.45.

Holt will terrorize us in the air. It's safe to say we'll go 1-0 down.

De Gea
Rafael Smalling Ferdinand Evra
Anderson Carrick Cleverley
Van Persie Rooney
Hernandez

I think this is how we will (and should) line up. Cleverley and Anderson are both in a good run of form, as is Hernandez. Our wingers are all awful currently so I can't think of a better lineup then this. Should be an easy win for us (hopefully).

100% agree, let Hernandez play furthest forward and get both Rooney AND RVP involved in the build up

Assuming Rooney, Nani, Jones and Evans are injured, and ignoring internationals, then I'd like:

De Gea
Rafael---Smalling---Ferdinand---Evra
Cleverley---Carrick---Anderson
Valencia---Chicharito---RVP

Decent height with the centre-backs to fight with Holt, and Valencia can bring his height to help/cover Rafael. Carrick to hold the midfield with Cleverley and Anderson ahead of him. I'd rest most of these players in the Champions League the following week anyway, so using these players in the league should provide sufficient freshness for the ongoing campaign.

----------------------------De Gea-------------------------

--Super Rafael------Ferdinand----BeckenEvans--------Evra--

--Tony V------------Cleverley-----Carrick------------------

----------------------------------------------Rooney--------

-------------------Robin Van Persie--Hernandez--------------

This is the best I can represent the shape on paper, a bit disporportionate though.
Why bother playing left winger if they all sucks. Just use Evra as a pseudo-winger whenever he pushes up and Rooney or one of the CM to cover the gaps if he gets caught in possession.

A bit worried about this one. We were outplayed for large periods last year, but they missed like 2-3 sitters and we undeservedly won from clinical finishes.

If Rooney is still out injured, we could play Giggsy, Nani, Young or Welbeck there.

I still think we will nick this one though. Van Persie hattrick 1-3.

I don't see why we would rest Ferdinand? His time off will be the next two Champions League games and the International break. If he misses a League game other than through injury it'll be in the Christmas period when Smalling is more fit and we have Jones back (and Vidic on the mend).

I don't know if it will be an easy win but this is definitely how we should line up. Get Van Persie into areas where he can cut in onto his left foot and hit more curlers like the one that rattled Brad Guzan's crossbar.

Norwich 2-3 United

Norwich to take a 2 goal lead of course.

Very interested in seeing how we line up with a full weeks rest and knowing we're through in the CL.

Ashley Young, Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverley will be involved in the international game midweek, and potentially Rooney (although my money is on him being rested).

No idea who else has been called up, I'd assume it's the usual crowd (Lindergaard, Evra, Valencia, Hernandez, Fletcher, van Persie etc) (and by etc I think that's it really)

I think this will be the team...

possibly with Giggs getting a run out after the internationals

Would go for:

DeGea
Rafael Smalling Evans Evra
Carrick Cleverley
Anderson
Valencia RVP Rooney

Subs: Lindegaard, Buttner, Rio, Scholes, Hernandez, Welbeck, Powell

Rio dropped then?

Think he should get some rest from time to time. He managed himself very well last season and so far this season. Jonny and Smalling can do the job against Norwich.
He's not that old, man.

Seven days is a good break, then another seven days... (I guess won't even travel to Turkey).

Why is Anderson, Carrick, Cleverley being touted as the answer to all our problems? I understand that it could prove to be a good combination, but it's still unproven yet people are acting like anyone who doesn't support it, including the manager, are blind?

Why don't you give us your solutions instead of just countering everything everyone else is saying. There isn't an award for being a "top red", so stop trying.

Solution to what? What are you bleating on about 'top red'?

Heres my predicted/suggested line up as you are so keen to hear it:

DDG
Rafael Rio Evans Evra
Carrick Anderson
Valencia Rooney RVP
Hernandez

De Gea
Rafael Smalling Evans Evra
Carrick
Cleverley Anderson
Rooney
Cheech Persie

Yeah that's what I'd play, Evra and Raf providing the width.

Nice to see that lots of people are now on board with the Ando-Carrick-Clev midfield (finally!). Shame Fergie probably still won't be.

No one had an issue with those three starting, it's been suggested plenty over the last few seasons. Playing Rooney on the left was your potentially contentious suggestion, from what I remember.

Wouldn't be surprised to see one of RVP or Rooney rested for this game, with xmas coming up you'd think we're gonna try keep them as fresh as possible.
