What is this, an OP for ants?

-----------Linegaard----------
-Rafael--Smalling---Rio---Evra---
-Valencia--Scholes--Giggs--Young
--------Hernandez--Welbeck------

lulz

Galatasaray to make a big deal out of this even though we've already qualified and won't give a shit.

I'd love to get avoid defeat from this playing a second string of sorts (Jones, Smalling et al getting some much needed game time), and then tear QPR limb from fecking limb.

Lindegaard

Jones
Smalling
Evans
Evra

Cleverley
Fletcher
Anderson

Nani
Rooney
Welbeck

SUBS: GK, Ferdinand, Buttner, Powell, Scholes, Valencia, Hernandez.

Provided Evans, Nani and Rooney are fit of course.

I'm not entirely up to speed on who's fit or on loan in the reserves (I think Petrucci is still out, otherwise I'd have him starting; Keane, Brady, Lingard on loan) but I'd like something like this:

Lindegaard
Vermijl---Smalling---Jones---Buttner
Tunnicliffe---Fletcher---Powell
Bebe---Macheda---King

Bench: Johnstone, Wootton, Veseli, Cole, whomever-else-from the-reserves-are-fit

If Evans is still likely to be injured for the QPR game, then replace Smalling with Wootton. Otherwise I don't want a single other first team player anywhere near this game - that pointless injury to Valencia at Ajax last season in the fecking Europa league still annoys me :boring:

Lindegaard

Jones
Smalling
Evans/Keane
Buttner

Fletcher
Cleverley
Anderson

Nani
Rooney
Welbeck

If Kagawa is fit, I'd like him to start. I hope we get to see Powell come on at some point if he doesn't start. RVP, Rio and Rafael should all stay in Manchester and not travel IMO.

Johnstone
Vermijl Jones Wootton Buttner
Fletcher
Cleverley Anderson
Powell
Welbeck Macheda

subs: Lindegaard, King, M. Keane, Thorpe, Tunnicliffe, Cole, Bebe

Time to start playing 4-3-3. The usual nonsense has to stop.

DeGea
Valencia Jones Evans Buttner
Fletcher Cleverley
Anderson
Young Hernandez Welbeck

Subs: Lindegaard, Powell, Thorpe, Smalling, Wootton, Rooney, Tunnicliffe

We'll batter them playing 4-3-3 with Cleverly, Anderson, Nani and Welbeck linking up beautifully. Then on Saturday, it'll be back to 4-4-2 with Carrick and Scholes in the middle.

This team will get ripped apart.
I know we have already made the next round, but sending out a team like would be daft.
Giving the kids some CL match time is all well and good but not if they get hammered.

I was waiting for someone to say that :D

Though that team is extreme, tbf five players in that team are first-team/fringe players; Macheda has been in first team training since 2009, Bebe since 2010, and King is now a full international. Even the youngest player there (Powell) has scored in the league. Personally I'd like United to take a risk playing some of the young players - we can't do that in the league like Liverpool have been able to because we are expected to accomplish something in the league this season, but these games (though tough) are a good test of character. Most of these players are in their 20s, so they aren't children.

I accept that team would probably lose of course, but the inexperience is more in the attack than the anywhere else - Lindegaard, Smalling, Jones (though coming back from injury) and Fletcher should be solid enough to prevent a hammering in a 4-3-3, particularly since Tunnicliffe is always up for a fight :D

Basically I don't want to see any key first teamers risked in this one, nor do I want to see Cleverley and Anderson start this dead rubber game when both were ignored against Norwich. It would be like insult to injury.

I do actually agree with what you are saying.
Galatasaray at there ground is a nightmare game, very hostile and I doubt if some of the younger player could cope with it.
There is part of me that would like to see a team like that, if I am being honest.

Manchester United has named an initial 33-man squad for the UEFA Champions League group stage. The squad, for games in Group H against Galatasaray, Braga and CFR Cluj, consists of 25 A-List players and eight B-Listers.

According to UEFA regulations: “A player may be registered on List B if he is born on or after 1 January 1991 and has been eligible to play for the club for any uninterrupted period of two years since his 15th birthday by the time he is registered with UEFA. Players aged 16 may be registered on List B if they have been registered with the participating club for the previous two years without interruption.”

Clubs can register an unlimited number of eligible players on the B-List, as long as the request is submitted before midnight on the day preceding the match in question.

Goalkeepers: David De Gea, Anders Lindegaard, Sam Johnstone*

Defenders: Rafael, Patrice Evra, Phil Jones, Rio Ferdinand, Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling, Nemanja Vidic, Alexander Büttner, Marnick Vermijl*, Michael Keane*

Midfielders: Antonio Valencia, Anderson, Ryan Giggs, Michael Carrick, Nani, Ashley Young, Paul Scholes, Tom Cleverley, Darren Fletcher, Nick Powell, Larnell Cole*, Jesse Lingard*, Ryan Tunnicliffe*

Forwards: Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez, Danny Welbeck, Robin van Persie, Shinji Kagawa, Federico Macheda*, Joshua King*

Bebe cant play :(

Jones-----Smalling--Evans------Büttner

----Anderson--Fletcher--Cleverley-----

Nani---------Welbeck---------Rooney

Bebe cant play :(

Well that ruins my dream team :(

Maybe then I'll go against all I've said above and stick a first team winger on the right of the front three. If fit, then Nani would probably be the best choice in terms of guiding the young players and making an impression on the game owing to the startling lack of confidence shown by both Young and Valencia recently, but if we have to play wingers on Saturday then I'd prefer Nani rested for that game over the other two right now.

Decisions, decisions... :smirk:

Lindegaard
Jones Wootton Smalling Buttner
Fletcher
Cleverley Anderson
Powell
Welbeck Hernandez

I was hoping we would have gotten it right against Norwich and then changed it up to play a side similar to this (except Nani and Young in for Cleverley and Hernandez). But, I get the feeling Young will be left out due to already playing, and Cleverley will start because he didn't at Norwich. If Nani is fit me may well play, but we're through so just feck this game off please. I don't think anyone cares if we don't win and it won't tarnish the club's reputation at all, and definitely not as bad as losing to Norwich.

Travelling squad: Sam Johnstone, Anders Lindegaard; Rafael, Alexander Buttner, Phil Jones, Tom Thorpe, Marnick Vermijl, Scott Wootton; Michael Carrick, Davide Petrucci, Larnell Cole, Tom Cleverley, Darren Fletcher, Anderson, Nick Powell, Ashley Young, Ryan Tunnicliffe; Javier Hernandez, Joshua King, Danny Welbeck, Federico Macheda.

Yeah, the Beeb confirm:

"Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Robin van Persie have all been rested for Manchester United's Champions League game against Galatasary in Turkey tomorrow night."

Very happy to see Petrucci included...

Thought Rooney would get some game time as he missed the England friendly and the Norwich game, and he could do with some more goals.

Young in the squad but not Valencia? Maybe Nani and Valencia on the wings vs QPR?

Galatasaray will win this narrowly and speak of how they tormented and frightened the famous Manchester United in 'hell' for decades to come.

No Smalling, Ferdinand, or Evans. I can sense a Michael Carrick at CB with Jones RB.. But I'd hope we just play Jones and Wootton at CB with Vermijl at RB, Buttner in there too. Still like the idea of a front six including Fletcher, Cleverley, Anderson, Powell, Welbeck, and Hernandez. I'm pretty sure we'll have at least three in the middle including Fletcher looking at our potential back-lines.

Lindegaard
Vermijl jones wootton buttner
Powell fletcher Anderson
Young Hernandez welbeck

We'll see something like this most likely, defence is really weak so I'd be really surprised if we came away with a result, especially considering we didn't do too good at home with a full team against them.

If Powell does not start, I might write a letter of complaint to the Daily Mail stating that SAF is outsourcing English jobs to foreigners.

We'll play Cleverley and Anderson with Rooney and Welbeck in front of them and Nani on one wing, produce a swashbuckling performance and win 4-1, only for Redcafe-posters to complain about how open we were defensively.

Then SAF will start Young-Fletcher-Scholes-Giggs in the next match vs QPR and wonder how we're getting outplayed by a team with Armand Traoré in it.

There's no reason Giggs/Scholes need to be involved at all in this one. Regardless of the weekends results we have a meaningless game (ego aside) where we have 4 midfielders who need f**king games. The experience card that Fergie is pulling with Scholes & Giggs is wearing might thin for me and hampering the development of the squad.

Lindegaard
Smalling Jones Keane Buttner
Powell Fletcher Anderson
Young Hernandez Welbeck

Keane shit himself significantly less against Chelsea, therefore is more deserving than Wooton.

Keane is also out on loan at Leicester...so that would be a little difficult.

Hope Wooten plays and plays well to restore his confidence from Chavski CO cup defeat

He got injured and came back, apparently.

Is this going to be one of those games where we see Macheda on the left wing; Petrucci at left back; Carrick in defence; Hernandez playing as our number 10; we get easily beaten and think 'we learnt feck all from that'?
