Anderson

Anderson hasn't been excellent in every game, but it's gotten to the point that we're so desperate in that midfield area, we see decent performances better than they are to try and convince ourselves everything is fine after all. I think the only excellent game he has had was Chelsea, every other game he has looked promising, but he needs a run of games there (maybe he isn't fit enough).

Given that it's pretty clear my description could only have referred to football fans, how could I have been suggesting it's universal? If you want to quibble over the semantics of "human nature" v "people's attitudes" have at it.

Yes for all football fans. It makes less sense to say human nature anyway. It's a general principle but at the end of the day, it's a choice. Football fans deal with their anger differently. A large portion I've met go about in the way you've described. Some people don't. Hence, why I found it strange you said "human nature". I know it comes across as nit-picky but at the same time, it's just not an accurate statement to expand it to the human nature of a football fan.

I know full well he didn't have a great game vs Braga

But "like playing with 10 men"... have a word with yourself.

If the majority of people give him 4 or 5 out of a possible 10 what kind of performance do you think he gave? He was utter useless that game to the point that when he was giving the ball away we would of been better without him on the pitch so actually you're right playing with 10 men would of been an improvement over him being on the pitch

His pass accuracy was 85%, 65 successful passes. He was also excellent defensively, I remember one moment very well where Braga counter attacked in the second half and he burst a lung back and got a block in.

Nothing like playing with 10 men.

I love watching him as I have a rather sentimental wish for him to succeed. Granted I don't watch him nearly enough as most United fans, but I'm a bit resigned to the idea that he won't give much more to United than he already has. The reasons for that can be better debated by you folks. Whether it's because he doesn't have a run of games, his fitness, his injuries, I don't know. I just lost hope.

I looked at the Gala game again last night, and apart from the three awful eye catching corners, he was actually pretty good. Made some tackles and was generally effective in defence.

I'd love Anderson to cut it but it's been 5 years and been nowhere near cementing a starting place just highlights how desperate we all are for a top midfielder.

I don't see how he was bad. He started very poorly but really grew into the game. It's important to remember that it was a second string team as well when it comes to judging all our players in that game.

Anderson was not that good in the last game against Galatasaray but I would mainly blame the formation for that. The game wasn't passing much through him as he was kind of shunted to the right of the diamond. But he did well when he did get on the ball

Why, oh why, isn't this lad starting more games?

The difference in our performances when he enters the fray is extraordinary. Modern football dictates pace and power as well as technical ability. Anderson has all three in abundance. A travesty he hasn't cemented his place in the first XI yet this season.

Surely the reason is fitness and his poor track record with niggling injuries

Been our best midfielder. Quite simply, he has to be starting.

It's almost like Sir Alex is picking the worst midfield options available in order to make Anderson look all that much better when he does get to play. I came in to this season not wanting Anderson here, and at this point I'll pretty much take anything to break up a Scholes/Carrick/Giggs/Fletcher combination.

That run and pass is so obviously what we've been missing from our midfielders. And believe it or not he did it without involving any wingers, something that you would think is impossible if you read half the posts on here.

Anderson haters can lick my hole. Yous are all shit at life. Never seen one player change a game so much, apart from Hernandez at Villa. He's won us this game.

This.

As I always say, have the posters on here are either clueless or they'd prefer to be right over watching a play they've slagged off become a success.

Once again Anderson does everything that can be asked of him in an English game.

The posts in here after the Gala game were just embarrassing.

It makes perfect sense to start Anderson in midweek. But we all know it's gonna be Giggs and Carrick.

We were playing QPR so we shouldnt get carried away. That said he deserves more starts to prove himself.

Why is he our only midfielder who drives forward with the ball, that's his biggest asset in our games where we need that sort of tempo.

Should be starting these sort of games. Him, Cleverley and Fletcher/Carrick in midfield for the next game, please.

I wonder if SAF brings him on from the bench because he is generally better when he comes on from the bench.

Could be true, certainly the way he plays doesn't really lend itself to lasting over 90 mins, not if you want it as impactful as it was today.

Game changer. It's so refreshing to see a player who is not afraid to run with the ball.It does help that he is a sub and that his opponent are really tired

He's our best midfielder. Simple as that. Has he even started a league game this season though? Hopefully sir Alex opens his eyes with regards to him, because most of those comebacks we've had this season were in part because him and Hernandez got subbed on.

What matters is whether he's better (when starting) than those who actually do start, rather than him as compared to him as a sub.
