Wednesday 28th November 2012
Barclays Premier League
Old Trafford, Manchester
KO: 2000 GMT

De gea
Rafael Ferdinand Evans evra
Cleverley Carrick Anderson
Van Persie Rooney
Hernandez

Please give this a chance. Drop our atrocious wingers for once, stop playing the 40 year olds, and play our best midfielders for once. Hernandez is in form, so he has to start as well. I really cannot think of a better lineup for us right now with the players who are fit. Home to west ham, if we play giggs and Carrick or scholes, it will be just like today or last week against Norwich.

DDG
Rafael-Evans-Rio-Evra
Anderson-Carrick-Cleverley
Rooney
Hernandez-RVP

Or something like that. Please.

I would like to see De Gea, Cleverley, Anderson and Chicha to all start, with SAF choosing the diamond formation.

Instead, we'll probably see Lindegaard, Giggs, Carrick, Valencia and Welbeck (playing out of position) in a 4-4-2 with no movement and the 'give it to Tony' tactic being adopted.

I'd like De Gea to start but can't see it happening. He's more likely to start against Reading. We could possibly see Jones or Smalling play instead of Rafael to give him a bit of rest but I would like to see the players in BD and bosnian's posts.

Giggs will play, if fit. Deal with it.

My view of today's lineup was we were resting those chaps to have a mean midfield midweek.

Hope I was right :nervous:

I expect

Lindegaard
Valencia-Rio-Evans-Evra
Anderson-Carrick-Cleverley
Rooney
Hernandez-RVP

Maybe Giggs instead of Chicha for the first half.

de Gea

Jones
Ferdinand
Evans
Evra

Carrick
Anderson
Cleverley

Rooney
Hernandez
van Persie

SUBS: Lindegaard, Rafael, Smalling, Powell, Valencia, Giggs, Welbeck.

We'll probably see this line up:

Lindegaard

Rafael - Rio - Evans - Evra

Valencia - Giggs - Carrick - Welbeck

Rooney - RvP

Giggs will play, if fit. Deal with it.

and he should. Rotation remains critical until end of January if we are to fight on 3 fronts.

If Giggs is fit id go with

DdG

Jones, Evans, Smalling, Evra

Cleverley, Carrick (or Giggs), Anderson

Hernandez, RVP, Rooney

Anderson and Powell/Cleverley in midfield surely.

I used to think like you mate. I used to believe that it would happen.

Don't worry someday you'll become cynical like me. You'll accept that whatever happens Ando and Cleverley will never start a game together again and you know what...

...its not so bad?

Once you get over the anger and the denial and reach acceptance its ok.

think Fergie has learned his lesson (I hope)... :nervous:

Lindegaard

Rafael - Rio - Evans - Evra

Valencia - Giggs - Carrick - Welbeck

Rooney - RvP

Na, Fergie has seen that this sort of thing doesn't work so I'm sure it won't happen again...........

Very true, I never knew we were playing midweek, vs a very good West Ham side.

I suppose in all the uproar people never considered that we were saving Anderson or Cleverley for the tougher fixture!?

Anyway, let's see if they start anyway.

An instant dose of pessimism on the first page. Classic.

Should be another 3 points - it won't be a walk over, but nevertheless I'm sure we'll be too strong for them.

I want to say start Hernandez, but I feel much calmer to see him coming off the bench - that's when I know that we have a secret weapon. If we must start him, bench Rooney or RVP in my opinion - if worst comes to worst then, we still have a secret weapon on the bench. Having all 3 on the bench doesn't fill me with great confidence if we're struggling as the game goes on.

Missed the second half today, but from the feedback Anderson should definitely start. It also seems like the type of games Giggs will be playing in, so I'd say a 4-3-3.

Seems most of us are on the same page on this one:

De Gea
Rafael---Ferdinand---Evans---Evra
Carrick
Cleverley---Anderson
Rooney
RVP---Hernandez

In reality we will see the usual formation, but I do think we'll see Cleverley and Anderson starting this game. In terms of wingers if we discount Nani and Valencia as injured, then we're probably looking at Young on the right and Giggs on the left. Also I think the defence will be rotated - Rio rested for Smalling for example, and maybe Jones for Rafael. But can't mess about too much - West Ham under Fat Sam are more than capable of giving us problems.

Secondary objective to the three points is NOT to let Andy Carroll look like he's a footballer, and I don't want to see any fecking chicken dance when West Ham inevitably get the opener

Carrick and Clevrley will probably start in the middle with Valencia on the right.

One of Young, Nani (If he's fit) or Welbeck on the left.

Whilst still clearly not the best option, I would at least settle for this. Anything other than the same shambles all over again.

Based on this season's performances, any sensible manager would have Cleverley down as the first name in midfield.

In your eyes, is Sir Alex Ferguson a "sensible" manager? And further, if Cleverley for whatever reason does not start this match, would that render Sir Alex not sensible?

Giggs has surely done enough in two decades of football to earn a spot for this one.

Perhaps that was a bit strong. I do, for the record, obviously think Fergie is a sensible manager. For that exact reason, I keep predicting before each match that he will start Cleverley instead of Giggs or Scholes this time round (despite the growing evidence that he won't). Check the match threads if you don't believe me.

What I will say is that if he doesn't start either Cleverley or Anderson this time, it won't be a sensible decision. But I don't want to start going on about it all over again.

That's fair (the above), I just hate the over exaggeration that even if unintended/subconscious, comes off as subtle disrespectful digs at Sir Alex.

At least you retract the exaggerations on reflection, fair play.

if giggs is not starting this one, then he is likely to start the away game at reading. if it is up to me then he is no where near the first eleven until the dead rubber CL game against Cluj though.

v west ham
de gea, rafael, smalling, evans, evra, welbeck, cleverley, anderson, young, rooney, van persie

v reading
de gea, rafael, ferdinand, evans, evra, valencia, carrick, anderson/cleverley, nani(if fit), rooney, van persie

v cluj
lindegaard, vermijl, smalling, jones, buttner, nani, powell, fletcher, giggs, welbeck, hernandez

Hope we win the toss for the kickoff. Then we can just take the ball and boot it into our own net. It will save time and give us even more to recover :)

I think Hernandez deserves a start at OT. Rio could use a rest.

De Gea
Rafael Evans Smalling Evra
Valencia Anderson Cleverley Rooney
RVP Hernandez

Switch Valencia for Nani if not fit. If Nani isn't fit either then put in Carrick and play the diamond.

de Gea
Rafael Smalling Evans Evra
Anderson Carrick Cleverley
Rooney
RVP Hernandez

If we play a decent side with a proper midfield, I'm confident we'll have way too much for them. My only concern then would be that if we go up a couple of goals, we might start to ease off the way we had been in a few games this season before this string of bizarre midfields drew focus.

Whether or not Fergie thinks that Anderson and Cleverley are his strongest midfielders is not yet clear. They have to prove it to him without question, and make themselves undroppable. That doesn't just mean going two-nil up and then sitting comfortably on the ball (shipping a few counter-attack scares) for the rest of the match. It means going as hard as they can and not even thinking about stopping until they find themselves 6-0 up.

Cleverley should get a start in this game. I would line up:

DeGea
Jones Smalling Evans Evra
Carrick Cleverley
Rooney
Valencia RVP Welbeck

Subs: Lindegaard, Ferdinand, Rafael, Welbeck, Hernandez, Scholes, Powell

We have a tremendous advantage due to the fact that we are playing 2 matches at home in a row - whereas Hammers play twice away - not to mention that we get 1 day extra rest.

DDG

Rafael
Ferdinand
Evans
Evra

Carrick
Cleverley
Anderson

Rooney
Welbeck
Van Persie

Similar line up to the match at Newcastle minus Kagawa. The only performance of the season we haven't started a game like a bunch of absolute fecking pillocks.
