Film The Movies I want to see thread

The new Star Trek should be good, I realy liked the first one despite never having watched the series.

Yeah same here, I never watched a single episode of the TV series but I loved the last movie. Quite a nice trailer for Into Darkness it should be a decent film.

I predict the next 12 months to be the rise of Benedict Cumberbatch.#Here's the Japanese tralier with a little bit of extra footage at the end that may indicate something........

I heard last night that Joe Carnahan is working on a Death Wish remake. Could be really good or, if it's one of his director-for-hire gigs, really bad.

Well, I did watch some of the series and I know a lot of Trekkies had problems with the movie, especially the creation of an alternate reality or whatever is was, but I thought it was brilliant.

Wasn't it time travel through a wormhole or something like that iirc? But yeah, it was a brilliant sci-fi flick I thought. And I'm sure it helps not knowing anything about the series to be able to judge it as a stand alone film.

I'm a trekie and I loved the rejig. All that continuity removed, no more did the films have to live within specific boundaries of the fans expectations and instead being free to tell whatever story they want.

Ender's Game. The original short story was great, the book was fantastic. I guess they are cutting down the time at the Battle School and having Ender arrive at it a little older then in the book, so they did not have to deal with having multiple actors play the roles of the kids. Though Orson Scott Card is also quoted as saying that the film has very few scenes from the book but he is comfortable with the liberties being taken. So it might turn out to be the telling of the same overall story but with a different way of getting there.

Has Harrison Ford in it, in a weird twist it also has an actor whose name is Han Soto.

Ho, Ender
Ho, Bean
The Enemy's Gate is down!

“At last he came to a door, with these words in glowing emeralds:

THE END OF THE WORLD

He did not hesitate. He opened the door and stepped through.”

Django unchained has recieved some very positive reviews. Tarantino returned to form with Inglourious Basterds and It looks like he's picked up where he left off.

I hope I'm not being set up for a big disappointment! I've been looking forward to this since it was announced.

Looks fantastically fecking stupid but enjoyable all the same.

I love Del Toro so I've got hopes for that even if it looks like a cross between Transformers and Godzilla. He certainly knows how to put on a visual feast.

Also, nerd/gamer fact - That was the voice of GLaDOS from the Portal series around the 1:00 mark.

Longer ST trailer

Genuinely can't believe I'm really hyped for this considering I barely liked the first. Cumberbatch looks like he's absolutely nailed this role.

Just watched it without the sound as I'm at work, will watch it again this evening, but bloody hell some of those shots are magnificent! Like him or don't like him, but Malick is a hell of a director.

Delayed another month. dammit!

I'm abit sceptic on this, it's pure entertaining with the steam punk fantasy fu i admit

But it just feel wrong, that's not ip man there. I'd rather they just create a new character rather than just fecking milking ip man all over again.

PS : Tony doesn't do martial arts, it's just weird him fighting and stuff

Looks a bit of a risk. Will audiences take the game nerdy 'macho guy in empty room punching the air' stuff seriously? I suppose it's aiming at the dumb and dumber demographic that made Independence Day a success.

TBF, I don't think empty room connected to real war machines are that far of a technology, infact it's highly doable now, it's just like a more instant radio control

Bet the US have started on this, something like fully loaded with arsenal mech type of thing remote controlled

Unmanned drones etc. It's not very heroic though, is it?

The music is wonderful. I need to find the name of that song.

I reckon it will be totally different from the other Ip Man films. Like a kung fu version of 2046.
