Manchester United vs. Newcastle United

Rooney, Young, Jones and Welbeck?

Any idea why all of them are missing? It can't be that all of them decided to injure.

I don't like the idea of both Scholes and Giggs starting, if Young was injured which means that Giggs starts then Cleverley should IMO have started in place of Scholes.

Hoping for the best!

This is great.

I struggle to understand Valencia's continued inclusion in the XI. I hope he proves me wrong and plays brilliantly today but on present form its like playing with 10 men. He's simply gonna pick up the ball and stand there begging for an overlap what use will that be?

Look, no one even knows what's going with regards to injuries etc, atleast wait to find out before moaning your tits off!

Cue the Goal.com headline: 'Roo the day he crossed Sir Alex: is this the end for Wane Ruby (whose career is on the Wayne)?'

Like other posters have said, out of the next three games, this is the one I'd rest players in, especially considering who Newcastle have out. No Gutierrez in addition to Cabaye, Ben Arfa and Tiote is another advantage.

Scholes and Carrick in midfield seems insane to me, even without Cabaye and Tiote, Newcastle have some pace about them.

Okay, moaners gonna moan.

Giggs had a good cameo on Sunday, that gave him place in the starting line-up today. On the wing, not in the middle with Scholes, for feck's sake.

This proves some people are just going to moan forever when they see Scholes and Giggs in the same line-up. Wankers.

oh shut the feck up you
Its a football forum and people have opinions.
Live with it.

Perhaps SAF wants to rest a few players? Am I missing something? I don't love Scholes and Giggs starting with Roo nowhere the squad but SAF may well be resting them and we may win this match? I don't understand people getting worried... Scholes and Giggs are aware of their faults and you do see their performances getting better... I think you will be suprised by this game.

This is great.

It's easy to take the high ground and laugh, but on a number of occasions this year the pre match moans about our selections have been justified by dreadful performances.

Likewise, the positivity at other lineups has been equally justified by great displays.

I don't think there is anything wrong with stating that you are worried that our midfield consists of a 38 year old, a 39 year old and a winger who is seriously out of form.

David McDonnell from the Mirror says Rooney and Young got knocks in training yesterday and Welbeck was unwell overnight. Don't know about Jones, but a rest for him would make sense after his injury and two full games at right back.

Look, no one even knows what's going with regards to injuries etc, atleast wait to find out before moaning your tits off!

No, we don't but what are the odds that Rooney, Young, Welbeck, Jones etc all have knocks? We should never have to field Giggs and Scholes in the same line up. Time and time again it's been proven not good enough for a premier league match, hell we even struggle with one of them in the starting line up these days. Valencia continues to start and stink out the place

Odd. You read an awful lot into the words 'This is great'.

Sam Allardyce has banned tackling in training over Christmas, maybe United should ban it too?

We'll be alright. With their problems, Newcastle will probably be looking for damage-limitation at best.

Yep. The newbies is worse:

What the hell is SAF doing... Swansea draw not devastating enough? now we going to have that 2 old guards in the starting lineup with no kagawa , rooney and welbeck on the bench. whats wrong with him ..

We'll find out why they're all not in the squad shortly. I just can't see him leaving all of Welbeck, Young, Jones and Rooney out of the squad if they're all fit.

And here we go:

Rooney and Young injured in training yesterday #MUFC

Welbeck is sick

Risky squad, everytime we try something like this we always seem to drop points.

Surely someone like Macheda could have been put on the bench?

So Rooney, Young and Welbeck got injured/sick at the same time. Our injury luck is amazing.

Welbeck has a massive hangover is trending on twitter.

I did, apologies if I read it wrong?

I was laughing at the fact he's put out such a weird line-up with subs to back, and am expecting a lot of entertainment one way or another from the match, it also seems like Fergie is directly trying to wum this forum.

I honestly think Buttner wouldn't be a bad option on the left, he seems to have decent pace and isn't bad at beating his man.

Dunno, I think that line-up will give them a boost. They know that Carrick, Scholes and Giggs aren't the most mobile so I'm sure they'll have a good go.
