Manchester United vs. Newcastle United

We're bottling our lead again.

Fergie does this - he gambles everytime we get a lead - he did it last year with some poor team slections and doing it again.

If he wants to keep our players fresh then we need a bigger and better squad - not risk it by playing Giggs and Scholes so that others can take a rest.

We haven't exactly made them look like Barca, but they've defended very well, and pressed us really very well. No space given and quick on the break against ageing midfield and Rio.

It's just an expression not to be taken too literally. My point is that they've been by far the best team and we're lucky it's just 1-2

Only subs I can see Are Cleverley and Fletcher for Giggs and Scholes. (cleverley on the left wing)

Or Cleverley and Buttner for Giggs and Scholes. (Buttner and the left wing)

bloody hell, this is Blackburn from last year all over again.

A collective stinker of a first half.

Front 2 making no impact at all
Carrick doesn't look smooth like normal
Evans playing like his bad self
De Gea, breaking goalie rule number 1 of don't palm it straight back into the centre of the goal
Giggsy losing most balls trying to play killer balls
Scholesy ticking over neat and tidy but not getting anywhere
Valencia, one good fired ball in, but pretty anonymous.

A nightmare half.

I don';t buy all this bollocks about Newcastle fielding such a "weak" team though. Their back 5 and front 2 are pretty much their best, and the midfield aren't exactly a bunch of chumps.

At least one of Scholes/Giggs will be on the pitch at the final whistle.

Anyway, not like we've any other options. Welbeck and Cleverley I spose.

Another Fergie masterclass here

fecking hell its just embarrassing now. Consistently picking shit teams, that everyone can see won't work. I mean c'mon, who honestly didn't predict exactly what was gonna happen when they saw the team sheet?

And that bench. Jesus. :lol::lol:

We'll start playing whenever we bring on Cleverley for Scholes.

Apart from Cleverley what can we actully do?
We've got Kagawa, Nani, Young and Rooney out.
feck it, put in Welbeck and play with 3 strikers.

Sounds like I am lucky not to see this then?

I have to say, I cannot see why we always go with widemen. We beat this lot easily with a narrow diamond at thier own patch, why come away from that when you know it works against them?

Why play Scholsey, Giggsy and carrick at the start, when was the last time we played well starting with them, ok to bring on if winning and slow the game down, no use at the start or chasing the game?

Midtable?

they are 5 points off the bottom and lost 6 of their last 9 games...
Dont care about the table at the moment. They arent relegation fodder... but they arent a great side.

We dont deserve anything based on that first half.

People lose possession all the time. Carrick shouldve done better, but the first goal is all down to De Gea.

And what the feck was Evra doing for the second? Does he fecking remember he is our LEFT back. That seems to be the one fecking position he is never at.

Going forward, we have been ok at times. Nothing more.

Valencia needs to stop getting games for us.

He needs to get back on form. He looks far from the confident player of last season. He's just not beating his man as often as he did and when confronted by two defenders, as he has been in this game, he runs out of space and loses the ball. It doesn't help that he dawdles on the ball either.

City will either score really late or push three past sunderland early in the second half.

The core of the problem is poor defense. Rarely have both center backs performed in the same match, a lot of incoherence and miscommunication. You see it every game and it's why we can't keep a clean sheet despite dominating a game. When the match isn't dominated it's often glaringly obvious.

Incoherence and miscommunication from Dean and his assistant.

Yep true, there's no options at all for us.
Though I think no one will be replaced come half time.

At around the hour mark maybe Giggsy will be replaced reluctantly for Clev.

Giggs wil play the 90 I reckon. Scholes off for Cleverley around 65 is what I predict.

Vidic for Evans, Cleverly for Giggs is a must change immediately for the second half.
Evans simply cannot cope. Giggs has lost the shape of the team by drifting into the middle so often.

The bench makes me want to cry.
Must be quite a feeling to lose almost every game you start for scholes and giggs

Despite the shambolic and incorrect decision to award Newcastle their 2nd goal, I've no qualms them leading at half time. They have been the better team and deserve to be winning.

RVP, Hernandez and Valencia have been poor and need to assert themselves alot more as well as eradicate stupid mistakes in the 2nd half. I'd like us to also slow the pace down and knock the ball about in the knowledge that Newcastle will eventually have a break in concentration and concede, like they did out first goal.

Worrying we don't really have any options aside from Cleverley from the bench to change the flow of the game. I'd expect him to take over from Scholes on the hour mark. Hernandez and RVP really need to get into the game and win this for us.

What gamble?? wev got injuries!! Scholes for Cleverly is the only change and thats not such a big difference, its not why we are losing

Oh holy shit, didn't realise that was Mc Manamanamanmanamanamananamanan.

We'll start playing whenever we bring on Cleverley for Scholes.

Scholes has played well as has Giggs. Newcastle are well-organised and very hard to break down. What we are lacking is a bit of pace because we're taking too long to get the ball upfield.

There is definitely no spark nor chemistry in this XI. Waiting for RVP to deliver the goods basically.

Bench has no options either, I really don't understand the XI and the bench today. Even with Welbeck, Rooney, Jones, Young all injured didn't Fergie say Kagawa started training last week?
